Convenient location near town
Clean facilities
Affordable fees compared to others
Quiet at night after road noise
Easy payment system with fob
Ambiguous parking guidance
Additional fees for amenities
People seem negative about the KiwiCash / Penny facilities, but we've had a fob for about 10months and think they're brilliant, wish there were more of them!
You just buy a fob and top up your account and pay for the amenities you want e.g. 20cents for hot water to do dishes, $3 for 5 min hot water shower. Tap and pay as you go.
Lots of space to park up and nice and quiet.
$20 here for the night, unpowered.
You don't get campsites with these facilities for anywhere near the low cost so it's great! Even if you just want a shower, it's cheaper than a leisure centre if you're fast. Top tip: take a bucket and fill it with hot water at the start so if you run out you can rinse and finish / use it to shave your legs or whatever if you need longer.

Clean, safe, close to town if you’ve been freedom for a while and need a shower!

Not bad.
It’s 20 dollars entry and you don’t get much included in that, not even peace and quiet because you are next to a main road and a BP. Shower was nice but for 3 dollars shouldn’t have been intermittently cold. Camp is flat though and there is free recycling/ rubbish dumping. Would be aware that you are near a fire station that makes a terrifying alarm when the trucks go out on a call which me and my boyfriend (both from UK) mistook for an air raid siren lol.

Yes you have to pay for showers etc.
8/10
Not at all scenic but very Close to town and super convenient
Immaculately clean
Noon check out welcomed
But still very reasonable non the less
Fob can be collected from BP opposite the road for access

Super unclear where to park - there’s a barrier half way through the “marked bays”.
Unsure if that means you’re only meant to go through there or you can be on the other side. Feels like the signage is wilfully vague to get you to pay and go through the gate (but then what’s the point of the other 25 spaces!!)
Additionally, stove tops weren’t working and took our money. Person from Penny we spoke to on the phone no help with either of these points.
On the plus side the location is v. central to town (if you don’t mind being by the road)
Showers and lay dart look the same as all other 4 kiwi camps (penny) locations we’ve stayed at so I assume will be fine - but unwilling to use in case they take our money and don’t work too!

Great facilities, complete laundry set up and quiet.
15 minute walk to the glow worm dell which was awesome and the kiwi centre is a must to see the feedings.

Very basic.
Just a parking spot really with a block of amenities (all extra charge except for toilets). Very clean & good location in town to be able to walk places. Probably a bit pricey for what it is. No character unlike a lot of other parks around.

If you are short like me take a stool to the laundry as the pad is very high on the wall.

It is what it is and it is a parking lot with a small ablutions building.
It has showers toilets laundry and sinks and stove at back. It has come in very handy for me with a van at mechanics next door waiting for parts. You need the little key fab to use everything except the toilets . Shower $2 5min ..long and hot laundry $5 wash $6 for 54 minutes did not use kitchen area at back. If you need a place to park for the night this is good. The road noise ends around 10pm or so

An overpriced parking lot.
20$ entry (feb 2024) and all facilities except toilets cost extra. They can get away with it because all others around cost more. There’s a hole in the market here guys.

Like all other KiwiCamps, it's nice and clean, as well as convenient and easy to use with the tags.
You have to pay individually for showers and laundry, which is fine, but then there's a $20 fee just to park here overnight, which is way more than it's worth given that many freedom camping spots I've been to are as nice if not nicer. Since this was also sandwiched between a couple of garages on the main road, it was very bright and a little loud all night (although luckily for me the rain mostly drowned it out). At least I had good phone signal here.
