Food was average, drinks with spirits were mainly full of ice, tables weren’t properly cleaned, service was okay but with a large group no one came to collect our dishes. Not a pleasant experience.

I went to Brewtown today with my family, we had a meal and drinks which had problems of their own (bites instead of wings, different mixers paired with vodka than asked, sauces that leaked through the criscross holey plates they were served on and more) but this wasn't the big problem.

I bought my family a $400 voucher for Christmas 2021 in the hopes I would come over for Xmas to spend it with them and visit; unfortunately due to covid this wasn't possible at the time.

I returned today for our booking at 5pm and was told our meals and drinks couldn't be paid for with the vouchers I brought (total of $417).

I had the voucher code, receipt with my bank details and order number on show but was told I needed a physical copy to show them.

This one special moment bringing my family from other countries together finally turned into a stress filled event and ended my birthday on a not so sweet note.

I whole heartedly respect and promote local, kiwi, genuine businesses but this is just not on.

I will be taking this matter further if not resolved

If you’re thinking.. hang on. Is that really a self-contained spot in the middle of five craft breweries? Can I really go eat and drink fabulous beer and then retire to my campervan?

Yes. Yes it is, and yes you can.

Just spent two nights here mid-week. Phil and Anita and co were great, the beer and breweries are great, the experience is great. Breweries open up in the afternoon and close by nine or so, so there’s plenty of time to get around to everything, and still quiet for a good night’s sleep.

One of my favorite spots - I’ll defintely be stopping by again on my way back North!

Note: Do give a ring or send a request through the website before turning up, and make sure it’s available. They often have bigger events, and it’s more of a spot on the side of what they’re doing than a proper campground.

But if you can make it work, Brewtown is a *wonderful* place to spend a night or two.
