Wild Kiwi runs small-group day tours to Milford Sound from Queenstown. Every tour is fully guided, travels in a Mercedes Sprinter with just 16 seats, and includes a 1 hour 45 minute nature cruise on a small boat.
The road in is part of the day. Your guide stops at Eglinton Valley, Mirror Lakes, the Homer Tunnel and the Hollyford River, with time for photos. On the fjord, look out for dolphins, seals and waterfalls straight off the cliffs.
Choose how you get back to Queenstown:
- Coach & Cruise: back by road, with more stops on the way. A long, full day, around 12 to 13 hours.
- Cruise & Flight: fly back in a small plane over the Southern Alps. About 10 hours, and the flight is a highlight in itself.
- Cruise & Helicopter: fly back by helicopter, with an alpine landing on the way. The top-tier option.
If the weather stops the flight, you come back by road and get a refund for the flight part.

I had an absolute blast touring with Wild Kiwi and can't recommend them enough!
Knowledgeable and friendly guides, great itinerary, comfy vehicles and a great group size - I left with lots of amazing memories and friends from all over the world (UK, Canada, Australia, Germany and Singapore).
Due to the small group size (max 18), we were able to get off-the-beaten-track and experience some less touristy spots along the way which made the trip extra special.
