I first heard about Eco Rafting through friends that had come back with fantastic photos of their trip.

I've rafted with my family in Idaho for most of my life, so when it came time for me to plan my NZ trip I knew that I wanted to go down the Whataroa with Eco Rafting!

I didn't contact them far enough in advance to get the exact day I wanted, but I was able to join a trip they already had scheduled a couple days later. It was easy to find the location where the helicopter was to pick us up, and they provided is with plenty of layers to keep us warm in the beautiful glacial waters.

The Whataroa was low that day, which made the rafting quite technical. Josh quickly got a feel for how good a crew we were and did a great job of explaining what we needed to do in each section. The trip was fantastic, and I would love to raft it again at a higher flow.

I'll also say that lunch spot was beautiful and I've mimicked Josh's bucket meal several times now with good success.
