the spot is nice, right next to the beach.
public toilet less than 1 minute walk from parking site - nice and clean. gorgeous beach, waves can get quite big depending on conditions. only con was that around 9:30pm we had a vehicle arrive and check out the lock to the gated area with their flash and have a little nosey around, nothing happened but was just a bit startling as you are locked into the parking area.

Nice views.
Public bathroom in walking distance. Only four parking spots, which were all full + extra vans around too.

Egans Park Reserve
Long drop bathroom is a bit gross, and dark with no hand washing facilities.
However that doesn’t stop this spot from being a 10. The river is beautiful and clear enough that swimming in it feels safe. The area is very peaceful, there is no cellphone reception so it’s a good chance to switch off.

Beach Road Reserve, Whangamata
Quite a busy little spot when we went in late November.
Lots of spots under trees to park during the day for shade. Only two sc parking spots which is a bit disappointing. Clean bathroom in walking distance. Nice view of the harbour. Only a 12 minute walk to the shops/restaurants in town which is lovely.
