One of the best freedom camping site We've been so far in the South Island.
Clean flushing toilets (with toilet paper) which is luxury after the many longdrop toilets. Bins provided for rubbish. Very nice view and lots of places. Clean stunning lake to dip in.

Hamurana Reserve, Rotorua
We spent 2 nights in this freedom camp.
It fills up quickly, after 6 pm is hard to find a spot. It supposed to be for 10 vans, but it can fit easily more between the arrows. The toilets are clean (with lights) and 24/7 open. There is also one tap for washing dishes. Charming view over the lake. Nearby is a playground where you can use the grill facility as well.( Personally, I liked this site more than the Rotorua center one)
