Would never give 10 of 10!
Nice tavern and beautiful surrounding wineries BUT camper parking bit depressing and scary. More lack a backyard with no views. Didn't stay there and drove to Queenstown.

McKee Memorial Reserve Camping Ground
Stayed for two nights there.
Amazing place! Extremely friendly staff, beautiful views and a lot of camping space along the shore. 4 clean toilet blocks with water and electricity, rubbish bin provided, cold showers will do. Looks like some people just live there and I can understand this. Lovely place.

$30 per van with ugly compost toilets and muddy campsite is a huge rip off!
Didn't have a choice and due to some booked party stayed with no kitchen facilities access.

I am sorry it has taken this long to respond to your review and we are sorry you did not enjoy the experience of staying (at all it seems). We admit our long drops can be smelly and we are continually trying to improve them. We are a back to basics Kiwi campground with amazing bush walks and river, which are part of the native habitat. Part of the camp fee is entry to this area and it helps us to pay for our pest control and maintenance.
If you stayed on the weekend of the 4th November, the camp was fully booked for a private function so there were not meant to be any other people staying. If this is the case it would have been because we were trying to help you out because, as you say, you had no other choice. I hope someone explained the situation, as it was a private party.

Scenic views, beach just across the road and railway (be aware of trains every couple hours, even night time).
Close to seal colonies. Free! The only bad thing is compost toilet. Anyway highly recommended by us.

$17 pp for a van so we decided to take a room.
Expensive for a room provided. Very uncomfortable mattress! However nice and fully equipped kitchen facilities plus hot showers and toilets Ok. Staff members not really friendly...

Only 10 spots so better to be a bit earlier on site.
Camp nice and quiet, $6 pp makes it closest budget stay to Milford Sound. Compost toilets.

One of the most beautiful places we stayed in NZL.
Clean toilets with water. Easy access via unsealed road. Beautiful views. Highly recommended.

Great spot to spend night or two.
Very friendly owners (what is not a rule in NZL), private campground, hot showers and everything for around $8 pp.
