Our favourite spot to stay in the Catlins.
Good kiwi camping vibes with a great mix of international and local folk. Hectors dolphins swimming in the bay and sea lion on the shore. Only improvement would be better upkeep of the toilets, especially on a long Easter weekend, BYO toilet paper :)

Great stay at this tidy and cared for camping ground.
Old school facilities but cared for very well. We felt really hosted by the owners and it was a super affordable stay. To be honest I think they should put their price up for the standard they provide :) make sure you drive around the south coast to take in the beauty! Primo!

Convenient to the ferry but the facilities simply didn’t feel cared for.
The women’s toilets were pretty gross. This could be good if someone actually cared for it. I’d look at staying in Invercargill, getting up a wee bit earlier and driving out to the ferry.
North Island ▷ Manawatu - Wanganui ▷ Whanganui ▷
As kiwis ourselves, we were pleasantly surprised by this morning market.
There were heaps of great food choices, lots of fresh local produce and an all round good vibe. Well worth the visit while you’re in Whanganui. Grab a coffee and watch the steamboat and waka paddlers go past!
