It’s a car Park in the very center of Takaka.
No services it is just to park for the night but it is convenient since it is the only free camp. There are public toilets and even a DOC WiFi a few meters away in the Main Street.

Very cool campsite, with kitchen and hot shower which is agreeable.
The staff is great there. Prefer the non power camp, it’s on the good side of the river, which is accessible directly from the campsite.

Picnic Bay Campsite

Tiny campsite, but with a beautiful view and access to the sounds beach.
We were the only ones there while the other campsite a few meters away was full. The only service is a toilet, which wasn’t very clean though.

The campsite is huge with plenty of space.
There’s a shelter very useful to cook when it’s windy, a cold shower and several toilets. We had the chance of seeing a beautiful pink dusk sky :)

Very nice basic campsite, right on the shore of the bay.
There are just toilets as services but they were just cleaned right when we arrive so it was perfect.
