My wife and I spent 35 days in a virtually brand new 2-berth motorhome rented from this excellent company, collected in Christchurch and returned in Auckland.
This is the fifth time we have rented from Tony and his team since 2012 and we have always appreciated the excellent service they provide, the quality of the vehicles and the support which is always available when needed.
During our travels around both South and North islands we were often complimented by other campground occupants on the van we were using which was very comfortable to drive, economical on fuel and which had very comfortable living accommodation including a rear U-shaped lounge which converted into a very comfortable king size bed. The van was very well equipped and Glenn kindly provided us with two linen packs given the duration of the hire. Glenn also very kindly collected us from our hotel in Christchurch for the handover on Day 1 and Eddie’s son kindly drove us to our hotel in Auckland once we had returned the van.
One small issue, it would have been useful to have had an oven as having only the microwave and the hob does limit the options when dining in. However this was only a minor issue and we adapted over the rental period.
We have really enjoyed our five memorable sojourns in New Zealand and wouldn’t hesitate to strongly recommend Discover NZ Motorhomes if you are planning a road trip in NZ in the future.

Discover NZ Motorhome Rentals
In our original research for NZ motorhome rental companies we sought feedback from previous travellers and we found customer feedback on Discover NZ was extremely positive.
Consequently we made reservations with this company in 2012 and 2014 on a very similar basis and were very happy with the arrangements.
This time around we were not disappointed. We arranged for collection of the vehicle in Christchurch with drop off in Auckland and requested an interislander ferry crossing.
All was handled in a very professional manner.
Unlike in previous years we did encounter a technical problem during our hire when the fan belt failed whilst travelling in the North Island. This deactivated the power steering and footbrake so we were left in a relatively remote area with no effective means of getting to our destination.
We called Tony Terrell and within an hour a breakdown truck had arrived which took us to our next campsite. The following day a replacement vehicle was supplied while our own vehicle was repaired and the day after that our vehicle was returned to us fully repaired. Thus, impressively, we experienced no disruption to our holiday due to the efficient action by Tony and his team.
It is true that our vehicle was perhaps a little older than some motorhomes seen on the roads in NZ, however we loved the vehicle, felt very comfortable in it and, frankly, were sorry to hand it back at the end of the rental period.
Having now rented motorhomes with Discover NZ Motorhome Rentals three times in the space of five years we cannot praise enough the quality of service this organisation gives its customers and would recommend them highly to anyone contemplating renting a motorhome in NZ either this year or in the future.
