Hands down the roughest place we’ve stayed on our trip through the South Island, and we’ve stayed in a lot of free spots.

there are only two spots in the middle of a caravan site, which on our occasion were covered with poo from the ducks and cats they have waking around, and if the strong smell of poo wasn’t enough where we were camping the toilet and showers also stank as well as the showers being ice cold. Day light robbery! If you were like us and non self contained I would risk it and stay in the free self contained spot across the road.
