Located approximately 20 minutes of the highway, this campsite has plenty of grass parking spots, which allow any vehicle type and also tents. Toilets available which where clean. Domain is located next to rugby club and there isn’t much around so be prepared.

Perfect for a night or two if you just need a break but there isn’t anything close by, still a great clean campsite!

Only 20 minutes from the highway you'll find this nice campsite near a rugby playground. It's completely for free, there is plenty of space and good toilets. Also if the weather is good you can use a cold shower. :) Just be aware that there is no gas station and no shop nearby.

I walk through the Freedom Campers area in the Onewhero Reserve most days and it is lovely to see travellers (mostly overseas) enjoying the country area of Waikato as their first and last stop before the Auckland International Airport.
Observation : More signage is needed for the drive into here, I see cars/vans going round and round the triangle to find out where they go and park. A lot of vehicles arrive last evening from overseas flights.
Want more rubbish bins with top of bin with smaller circle so that rubbish does not fly out and trash our Reserve.
Want the council to give back to the community the Old Post Office house so we can utilise this/rent (as rate payers and our community) for an Information Centre and Cafe. (Wanted and needed!!!)

Great site with lots of places for campervans. There is nice grass ground to stay on with the camper with gravel roads.
There were multiple other groups that sung and yelled into the night and we couldn't sleep well until they stopped at 2am. This was bad luck I guess.

Nice place but limited local shops or services. My GPS sent me up a road called Mission Track, but don't do this as it turns in to a farm track and a normal road car cant get through. You need to take Onewhero-Tuakau Bridge Road instead coming from either south or north.

We weren't sure if it's really allowed to camp here, since the sign said no. After a bit research we found confirmation on a website. They should probably change the sign. Otherwise a nice spacious place but at the moment they are rebuilding the playground so there is a working site which makes some noise early in the morning, but can be avoided by parking a bit more behind.
