Great to have an opportunity to wake up by the water and walk on the beach. Quite a few campervans however nice and quiet in Level One. Clean toilets and great boat ramp.
So good ! Beautiful view on the sea and Auckland.
Backpack On Fire
Lovely place with 20ish spots to park and it did fill up. Small beach when the tide is out to swim and a nice river to walk along. Windy because it is right on the ocean so if cooking outside of your van like we do then it might take longer than normal to make a meal. Good clean toilets. A dump station available. No drinking water. Great plss as we close to Auckland.
Nice Place with all time clean and open toilette. Lovely view to Auckland Sky Tower.
LOST! We lost a ebook reader from Tolino yesterday on 3rd January in the morning. Please contact +64 2108058044 if you found it. Thank you, Mona!
Gorgeous free lot! Would have never guessed. There is lots of room but it was 80% full before 5pm, even when I had arrived at 4:30. Nice view of Auckland skyline in the distance. Quiet location. Nothing within walking distance though. Marina was beautiful in the morning, though a lot of boat launch traffic due to the weekend warriors. Toilets were clean but no potable water.
It is an ok spot, but it is a busy parking lot. Cars come and go in early morning and in the evening. If you like a more quiet spot surrounded by nature, I would go to shakespear regional park and pay a 15 dollats to stay on the campsite there.
Nice place, nice view ! Quit a lot of spaces for Campervans (marked by yellow painting)
Toilets ok. No drinking water
Would recommend !

In a car park right on the water. Pretty busy spot but lots of space. Great first spot outside of Auckland! Nice walk around the harbour. Great first night in our camper waking up and cooking right by the water.
Very clean flushing toilets with lights. Up to 20 spaces but appears not too strict as campers outside zone? No potable water.
Lovely view over the sea and at a distance Auckland city, also lots of harboured boats on the opposite side.
There's a fair few spots here for Self contained, there are yellow lines in the carpark to designate the freedom spot.
Dump station and good quality toilets.
A bit bright at night from the over head lights, but kept pest to a minimum.
No water facilities so make sure you have enough.
Great location close to Auckland. Can leave van here and take ferry into Auckland. Good space, good view and good facilities. Plenty of room but arrive before dark. Quiet. Would definitely stay here again.
Good free place! Toilets were clean and open all night. Dumping station but no drinking water.
Woke up to a beautiful view of the Auckland sky line.
Was completely full (about 10-15 spaces) when we arrived at around 7pm in winter!
This place is lovely. Nice clean toilet. Can go for a nice walk.
Nice parking lot. Gets fairly busy. There’s a designated site by the looks of it but a few people parked outside of it as well and doesn’t look like there were issues. Clean bathrooms
Really nice views and 24hr toilet - make sure you get there early to get a spot!

Sweet and quiet spot. It’s a designated area away from the rest of the car park, so no one who is in and out. We got there around 7pm and was nearly full, so make it an early stop. Toilets were good enough, and also a dumping station. Beautiful sunset to end our first day camping. Would recommend!

Ample parking lot by the water. Arrived at 5pm and got one of the two last spots. Clean toilets, rubbish bins and dump station. Perfect.
It is a very calm and nice place with a great view. You can walk to the „town center“ there are a few restaurants.
On the last pier close to the rocks and the parking you can find some Kingfish and around the other piers we saw a few sting rays!
As there seems to be some confusion as to where camping is allowed: It is the eastern end of the parking lot next to the water. The area is marked off by a (more or less visible) yellow line, so are the individual parking lots as opposed to white lines used in the rest of the car park.
Parking lots designated for camping may be used by day time visitors, too. If nothing is free when you arrive asking around if somebody does not intend to spend the night may secure a space when the day visitors are leaving.
Got there around 8pm, luckely squeezed into the last spot. Great harbourview. Had breakfast among the bunny's and seaguls. Definitely a place where many go (boating). Clean toilets. Drinkingwater. A good stay in between drives.
We directly came from Auckland Airport. Very nice place for first night.
You can see skyline of Auckland in the distance.
For a free camp site, more than you can expect. We had a good stay! Nothing to complain.
Arrived around 5.30pm and fortunately a few spaces left in designated areas, big lot with Loo’s the other end of car park. Quiet and lovely view over the ocean. Ideal for stopover from Bay of Islands (about 3 and half hours) going on to North Island. Get there by 5 - Recommend.

Great spot right by the water!
Toilets were clean.
You are supposed to park in the designated area, but it wasn't very clear what that area was (at least to us, but we arrived in nighttime). However, it did not seem to matter as more people where parking outside that area.
During daytime it is quite busy with people who go fishing and the parking lot can be full.
At end of Marina which has toilets and small cafe. Quite a few spots with great views over ocean. Fantastic place to stop
Great place for a freedom camping. Nice views of Auckland, close to Tiritiri matangi island. Clean toilet and dump station.
Clean toilets, lots of space. Basically in a car park of the harbour. Directly overlooking the water. Fair enough for a free spot but nothing special.
Can’t get a better view of Auckland. Easy to find and nice, safe area. Bathrooms are fine for being public. No traffic or noise (other than the waves). Definitely recommend as free stay!
Great free spot next to the water, plenty of space. Toilets and dump station.
Perfect place for one or two nights. Free quiet camp, with public toilet.
Good free location and isn’t as far as it looks out of the way, dump station too will nice views. Gets busy in the mornings with guys and there boats but no trouble
Perfect place for freedom camping: beautiful views, some grassed area, toilets, dump station. Maybe a bit busy. But that's ok regarding the closeness to Auckland.
Spacious and safe. Plenty of lights and other campers around
Arrived late at night and there was plenty of space, very nice area surrounded by a golf course and marina. Decent view of the sea and reasonable toilets.

Incredible spot with amazing views over Auckland and the bay. It is a perfect spot to stay close to Auckland with clean bathrooms and even a dump station.
Can only recommend it. Make sure you arrive early (before 4 pm) if you want to get a spot on the ocean side. It does get really busy especially on the weekends.
Great view of the ocean. About 15 parking spaces for campervans up to 8 metres. Gulf Harbour Marina wifi available also sometimes Spark WiFi, first is slow but free. No shower only toilet.
Stunning views. Can't believe this is free.
Quiet with loads of space, this spot by the sea was perfect for a one night stop on the way North. Clean toilets and dump station. Nice Thai restaurant nearby on Gulf Harbour Drive.
Car park next to the boat ramp with a very nice view across to Auckland. Toilets are close, and were clean, plus there is a dump station. There are spaces marked out at the far side of the car park specifically for campervans (around 15-20 spots), but people also camped in other parts of the car park, and there was no sign saying that you couldn’t do that. Ended up coming back here as it was quite a handy free stop on the way to/from Auckland.

Beautiful afternoon when we arrived. A busy car park in the daytime with many boat trailers awaiting their boats return, we left to visit family and returned later. It was lovely and quiet overnight. Clean toilets, dump station.
Large car park by the marina with great views. Excellent, clean toilets, available 24hours. Some campers stay well over the time limit. Very busy at the weekends with boat trailers (fair enough), so make sure to camp in the designated camper area. During the week doesn't seem to be an issue. We visited late October.
This motor home park offered far more than we expected for the free price tag. We parked right on the water and enjoyed a beautiful view of Hobbs Bay, Kotanui Island and the Auckland skyline in the distance. There are wide open grass fields, a harbour with hundreds of boats, and a variety of views from multiple vantage points. The dump station and clean toilets and washrooms.
This site is a parking lot in front of the ocean. There is also open space for kids to play. There are clean toilets and dump station. Nice place with a nice view.
