We arrived at night, the place was completely empty. Dry toilets easy to find at the entrance, they were really clean for a toilet in the middle of nowhere. Amazing views in a foggy winter morning. There's a wooden walkway that goes around the lake and it's perfect for a morning walk. We saw pukekos!
Toilets open all night but stinky. Lots of locals during the day. Quiet at night.
Free camping right beside the lake. If you drive on past the first campsite you get a nicer site closer to the lake, but the toilets are at the first parking lot, there are tons of spots there in a big paved lot. Quiet and a nice stop for us on the way to Waitomo

Great lakeside site with plenty of space to enjoy the views. Quiet at night. Long drop toilets a short walk across à grassy reserve - pity some campers don’t bother to use it and do their business in the nearby bushes (shame on you if you behave this way)
The campground itself is pretty good, the drop toilet was very far, near the rowing club, but clean and with hand sanitizer. No drinking water
Read the reviews first as we initially parked
at sailing club car park to then read reviews to the correct place further on. Toilets at first part not actual grounds. Lovely spot by the water. Great walk around lake.
Lovely secluded grass/gravel spot with views directly over the lake. Public toilet which seemed to be open all night. Large campsite with room for 40ish+ campers. We stayed in June and approx 20 campers parked here.

Quiet place to stay with nice view. Don’t park too close to the boat ramp (in use early in the morning). Start point for a walk around the lake.

Both of us really liked this place. A little away from everything, and you have to drive all the way to the end for the campground. But once you’re there, it’s a very quiet and peaceful place next to the lake. New drop toilets are a little walk away (about 500m), but clean, and with sanitiser. No water available which is always a downer. But a relaxing spot with a beautiful sunset.

Beautiful place to stay, scenic and peaceful.
Plenty of room. Toilets although very dark, easily accessible and in reasonable state.
No water available.
Lovely little spot. We pulled up in the first Car Park initially, but had a bike round round the lake and found the second spot past the yacht clubs which had much nicer views.
We have a two year old so it’s great to find any spot where she can run around safely.
The old toilets were shut and it was a 5 min walk to get to the new drop ones by the car park entrance.
Sunrise was amazing so a great little self contained park up.
Very quiet location right on the lake! 7 out of 10 because there was no lights in the bathroom which is a bit scary. Other campers around us but everyone kept to theirselves so no hassles. Great spot! I would recommend and stay again!
Amazingly maintained for such an unassuming location. More lake views would have been nice.
Nice spot just next to the lake (be careful with mosquitos and other bugs). Has toilet with sink (all cleaner than expected) and space for about 10 campervans. It is quiet and the views when you wake up are really nice.
We arrived at night and we got amazed the next morning when we saw such a beautiful lake. Clean toilet and a walking track around the lake. Seems crowded during summer as it is famous for its boat club.
Beautiful spot by the lake. Easy to find. Flush toilets, no power. Nice little trail nearby to stretch your legs. It was a very quiet spot except for the roosters that are awake at 6am.
Delightful campsite next to a scenic little lake, flush toilets open all night.
Very beautiful by the lake... Great spot for a fully contained vehicle. Wake up next to a lake. But be very careful - and check the ground before moving the vehicle - some spots are very soft ground and muddy. We had our camper van wheel stuck in the mud. But certainly worth it.

No power, very nice walk around the lake, good for one or two nights, flush toilets, clean boatclub.
