Our heritage

Te Puia is located in the beautiful Te Whakarewarewa thermal valley. See silica terraces, bubbling mud pools and unique geothermal vegetation. View the world famous Pohutu Geyser erupting from the ground up to 30 meter’s high – an awesome display of mother nature’s power. Ten to twenty times a day it bursts into life; a tourist attraction since the early 1900’s.

We have seen the Maori culture and hot water and mud pools and geysers. It is very touristy but the park looks nice.

Nice place, well organised and tidy. Interesting information about Maori culture. Pricing a little expensive.

Geysers were worth the entrance price but the 'traditional' Maori show was not very traditional. A little bit overrated.

Overall a varied tour with lots of components. Parts of the one hour guided tour was rushed at the end as insufficient time was allowed for questions.

Better on a weekend - more information about carving and weaving school. Very good tour of volcanic area and park in general. Love carvings once in gift shop must exit to use toilets - get a stamp.

The guided tour through the park and crafts was quite good. But we get no information about family life, their settling in NZ and their life today. For such small information the price for the entrance - especially the so called 'show' - was too high!! Better to visit Te Papa Museum.
