Ballooning Canterbury operates all year round with early morning flights, weather and passenger numbers permitting. Meeting times vary by season: Summer around 4:45 am, Spring around 5:30 am, Autumn around 6:00 am, and Winter around 6:30 am. The full experience lasts approximately 4-5 hours, with about one hour of actual flying time. Standard flights are daily except Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day, which have special celebration flights. The Wairarapa Balloon Fiesta flights are scheduled for April 3-6, 2026. |

This was an absolutely incredible experience.
We have travelled around New Zealand for 5 weeks and this was by far the best thing we did and we could not recommend this trip enough. Michael is a brilliant pilot who made us feel extremely safe at all times and is also extremely knowledgeable, giving us great insight and knowledge about the local area. The views from the balloon were absolutely amazing and it was incredibly quiet and peaceful up in the balloon. One of the best experiences we have ever done, if we are lucky enough to come back to New Zealand in the future a trip with Ballooning Canterbury will be top of our list of things to do again!
