Absolute stunner of a place. New toilet facilities, outside shower, grasses area to park on and beach within steps. Awesome views and lots of hikes nearby. Highly recommended.
Great little spot to park up overnight! There is a new toilet block right next to the parking area with flushing toilets and sensor lights. It was nice and quiet when we stayed.
There is clear signage which indicates where you can park. There is space for approx 4-5 vehicles keeping in mind that the council by-laws state that you need to leave a 3m gap between cars.
Make sure you are self-contained and that you have your legitimate paperwork certifying as the (friendly) Ranger will ask you in the morning.

Incredible beautiful camping space. Very quiet with beautiful beach. We were there during construction and were told it was ok to camp outside of freedom camping signs, had no problems. Very fun park for families! Four campers in total. Highly recommend!
Great spot in the grass to the right of the parking lot. When I was there (dec 2019) there was still construction going on of the new bathrooms right next to the freedom camping area. This cut into the amount of space allocated (cut it down to about four vans) but all four spots filled up that night. Beach shower and bathrooms up the hill were still operational and it’ll be super nice and convenient when the new bathrooms open up. 10/10 would camp there again

Nice quiet spot by the beach. Toilets nearby. They are building new toilets on some of the freedom camping space so it isn’t quite as big as stated on the map. If you want a quiet spot with wonderful views this is a good one.
Super nice spot, less than a minute walk from the beautiful beach and toilets, which were moderately clean & open 24 hours. Small space, able to accommodate 5 in a row, maybe one or two more if allowed to block others in for the night! Would stay here again!
This place is absolutely fabulous. Highly recommended. Make sure you stick to rules so don't ruin for others
We were the only campers, great location with lovely grass area, great beach and view; top spot for sunrise. Only downside was council workers at 0730 mowing right around camper.
Great location if you can get a spot (only 4).
Beautiful quiet beachside location. camped in June so it was a bit chilly to walk to the toilets. Toilets are clean flush. Beach cold shower would be great in the summer. A nice walk to a small sea cave to one end and then a waterfall cascading to the beach on the other. Only a small area to camp, very boggy with recent rains. Coffee shop wasn't open whilst we were there. Wish i could share some pics.
Nice camp. As others have stated it's quite small. Only room for 3 (or 4 at a stretch). Clean toilets nearby. Had the Fire Brigade turn up at 8pm right alongside us, doing training running a noisy gasoline pump and spot lights for an hour. They just sprayed water on the vegetation. We got the impression that maybe we weren't welcome?
Great freedom spot (self contained). Toilets (somewhat clean), outdoor beach shower (cooooold) and a great beach with nice waves :)
Fancy coffee/restaurant place nearby.
Amazing spot, so nice walking on the beach then sitting out when dark listening to the sea. Cold water shower available. Toilets nearby. Spaces are tight between the freedom camping poles certainly no good if one van goes over into another area. But then there is no sign saying park in a line so I presumed area was the grass also in front of the poles. Would have been nice to chat to other travellers but the Dutch and New Zealanders sat in vans watching TV seems such a waste on such an amazing spot. Going to enjoy going sea kayaking from here today.
