Great little spot right by the beach, only about 5 or so spots, or if people rock up with big campers maybe less.
We arrived at 4pm ish and there was no space for us, about 4 campers camped outside the signs with no problem.

Gorgeous view and beautiful beach, not much space to park up. Lost points for the toilet which had a bird in it and no sink.

Very nice place in the heart of Coromandel Peninsula. The long-drop non-smelly toilet is especially amusing - it's painted by a professional painter and it's asking people to "take 3 for the sea" - basically pleading people to collect 3 trashes from the beach and put it in the bin to keep NZ beaches beautiful. There is a bin and not much more. Some houses close-by but after all it's a secluded place with a sandy beach. It's one of my favourite places I've camped at and it's well worth the cca. 10km drive on gravel road (it's well maintained so no worries there). I would definitely recommend!

Just a sandy patch of gravel to park on with a long drop loo and no water. But room for 6 vans and a beautiful beach right at your doorstep!

Decent little place to spend the night. Small car park that leads onto a beautiful beach with clear waters. Toilet is a long drop but clean enough and space for three or four campers. Very quiet for a good sleep!

This free campsite at a small parking lot (only two spots) deserves the maximum score. It is next to a beautiful beach, playground next to the campsite, toilets and a (cold) shower inside a facility 20 meters away. This is the only free campsite we spent the night, that had an indoor shower nearby. From here you can go to New Chum’s Beach by foot, where you can have your own beautiful private beach (in november).

A really beautiful, secluded bay. We were the only ones there. The loo leaves a little to be desired but that's freedom camping. If you want peace then it's worth the miles of gravel roads.

Lovely half moon beach with Pohutukawa trees for shade from the heat. Busy spot in the summer months. The parking area is nothing to write home about but access to the beach is on your doorstep. Only room for 1-2 campers. Public toilet.
