Arrived at 4pm and all spots were taken by 5 motorhomes. A bit disappointed as a really nice spot…

Feel quite lucky being able to camp free in such a lovely spot. Amazing views, great toilet facilities. BBQs and picnic tables. The designated camping area is for CSC only. There is space for around 7-9 campers. Get in quick. It was full with 7 large motorhomes when we came.
Cafe across the road has an awesome menu, and next door a tackle shop for boaties. You’ll hear the water at night. The beach is rocky/stony. The reserve has wonderful large pohutekawa trees.

Great place to stay, would be nice if motorhomers were more considerate of parking spaces, some seem to think the world owes them. 5 hogging 8 spaces, Managed to get the park right next to the water, stayed 2 nights, rocky beach by parking but sandy beach by playground, lots of shade and trees on grounds, free bbq, outside shower for rinsing off, big toilets with changing room, people fishing at high tide pulling in snapper. 2nd/3rd Jan

Great place to stay. Loved it here. Nice place to park on the grass however make sure you are between signs we were slightly out of the sign posted area and got asked to squeeze in closer. Toilets are a short walk away however very clean facilities. Cold shower to wash off and nice safe place to swim. Local takeaway shop just across the road if you dont feel like cooking.

Stayed there for New Year’s Eve so was plenty of space. Lovely area to spend the night/half day and you get a beautiful sunset :) toilets are clean and there is an outdoor shower. Definitely recommend it.

Beautiful view, right on the water. Really nice clean toilets, stayed there 2 nights. Be careful to park in between the sign posts, they are strict on this. Good cafe across the road too.

Really enjoyed our night at this spot! It's by a beautiful beach and the sunset views were fantastic. There's a cafe across the street (pizza for NZ$22 if you don't want to cook), bbq, bins and playground. Nearby there's a grocery store (15 minute drive) and a petrol station with a dump station and potable water (20 minute drive). The toilet block is spacious, clean, well stocked and well lit with a cold water shower on the outside of the building. There is limited space, we arrived at around 3pm and the site was already more than half filled. Unfortunately we made a tasty meal for some mosquitoes so make sure all doors and windows are fully closed at night.

Beautiful spot along the coastline. Approx 3 min walk to the toilets which were clean. Outdoor cold shower. Great covered BBQ area and plenty of picnic benches around. There is a cafe across the road that does lovely food and ice cream. Would recommend! It is busy and tends to fill by 17:00. Note: rangers were ensuring vans were self contained and also parked between the markers.

A gravel car park beside the sea, with space for about 8 campers. Nice grassy area and playground for kids to play in. We saw glowing phosphorescent waves rolling in after the sun went down which was a bit of a treat! Good shore for beachcombing, great spacious and clean toilets nearby, and sheltered picnic area beside the playground. Not too busy when we were there, still places available at 5pm despite being school holidays (April 2018).

Clean and quiet location, we stayed directly (3m) near the sea, sounds great! Toilets and outside showers about 100m away, perfect for a overnight stay on the way to Coromandel.

A really lovely spot where you can hear the waves crash as you fall asleep (if the rain isn't bouncing off your campervan roof!). Clearly signed and marked area where you can park up, although some campers still ignored this. 200m walk to clean spacious toilets and also a kids playground. The coffee shop over the road is a must visit. Hot lamb pies, cheese scones and cakes to die for.

Nice freedom spot. Fairly clean toilets (although not the cleanest and no shower), café across the road.
Nice stop before going deeper into Coromandel Peninsula.

Nice place directly at the sea front with public toilets (open all night). Toilets are really big, but only ok clean. There is a coin bbq at the site and various picnic benches. Enough space for 4-5 campers. Nice grassy areas with big trees. Quiet and a very nice café on the other side of the street. Would definitely recommend this place for one night.

A primo spot only 10-15 minutes north of Thames. Across the road from the local store, covered area with coin operated BBQs, public toilets with a covered in picnic area beside the playground and beautiful big trees for shade - another great waterfront gift from the good people of the Coromandel.
