Go in the evening and back the next day on the same ticket to see kiwis at night and in the kiwi house during the day.
You can get very close to the kiwis and staff are very knowledgeable.
The kiwis are beyond cute.
Best stocked and best value gift shop we discovered over three weeks travelling. We bought most of our gifts there.

The Kiwi exhibition and the view behind the scenes was fantastic!
The whole park and its attractions was worth the money we spent. Ideal for families - also with young children. Lots of information and you can pat the fishes.

I had heard that Kiwis were very rare and almost never seen so this was a pleasant surprise to be able to get up close with kiwis.

Meeting with a kiwi bird, awesome bird show, not so big area, typical NZ flora.
You need to pay for a Kiwi encounter, special costs.

We are an adult couple and was not interested in the children's games, rides and playground.
The park is set up for families with small children. We appreciate the efforts the park is doing for kiwi conservation and paid the high admission, but did not care to partake in the park activities other than the extra kiwi tour which we had to pay extra.
Expensive admission to the park, but we felt better knowing the money was going to kiwi conservation. We opted to pay extra for behind the scenes tour and enjoyed seeing the newly hatched kiwi. The tour guide shared lots of interesting kiwi information. Tour was short and we expected to see or hear more.

Great and beautiful park with NZ bird and animal life!
Pay $2 more and you have a 24 hour pass and the kiwi bird habitat with baby kiwi and the kiwi bird at night when it walks just behind a knee high fence (downside no pictures).
