Indispensable to discover and understand the Maori culture, even if is now becoming a business. Show was very realistic and nice to see. We recommend going in low season when less people are there. Great typical Maori dinner and walk through the forest and glowworms.

I did this to get more information about Maori and there it is not so good. It is very interesting to learn about their singing and dancing and the people doing it are very funny and lovely. Also the food tastes great. If you are looking for good food and entertainment go for it. But I heard that there is a better place on the West Coast of the South Island.

The only negatIves, and here I should explain that our group had 2 disabled people (who loved it!), were that the evening bush walk was very difficult for them, and we hadn't been warned of this. (It was fine for the rest of us). Also the evening meal was quite late, and we didn't know that beforehand. Perhaps the MC could have been quicker in his introductory talk?

This was generally an excellent experience, however when we went there were 300 people that night and this lessened some aspects. Our chairs for the performance had our view partially obstructed by a pole, and the waka coming down the river element felt a little like a circus due to the crowds of people. However, the content of the show and the interaction with the chief, the skill of the performers were all first class. This was a really excellent experience despite a few downsides. I did think that Mitai are going to need to set limits on expansion or they will be a victim of their own success.

The evening was overall fine, and touristy but that's to be expected from such a place. The 'hangi' could have included some more traditional fair. You can be sure that lamb, chicken, stuffing and potatoes where not the traditional Maori dinner. They were good though.

It was a fun night, but the question has to be asked, is it worth the relatively high price. You can spend that on a better meal in town, but this way you also get 3 hours of entertainment too. Fun night overall.

Mitai ... the best Maori Cultural Show in New Zealand. I have seen most of them, and though I agree this has progressed into your normal "touristy" activity, it is still the best around. The owner Wetini Mitai has the 'mana' far and beyond what most other shows are trying to acheive. Also, you won't get a better "Hangi" anywhere else in New Zealand. Its good to see that the "Mitai" family is involved, which goes a long way to ensuring its visitors of "Family engagement" and sustainability.

As a visitor I felt a little exploited. To many people crammed into a small place. Learnt alot but it was not very personal. Mainly song and dance.

Really good maori concert and food. Nice people who run the family business in Rotorua. If you go touristy then this is the way to do it.
