Quaint little camping spot. There were 8 normal sized campervans near the DOC sign. The sign also says "Self Contained 5pm-9am only" but no one came by to kick those who were still there out after 9am.There were 2 campervans on the other side of the street. Could hold a lot more vehicles. The last part of the road is rough, but can be done in a campervan.

I think the free sites tend to get higher reviews. This is a simple site. Gravel parking, and a long dirt road to get to the site. For free it’s great. Rating +1 for freeness. Otherwise would rate 7-8. There’s signage and that’s nice. There’s also a track at the site. We were also the only ones there, though a few people parked for a hot minute—but they decided to leave. Not too much traffic.

Tiny site in a really gorgeous spot. No amenities, and really only enough space for three or four vans (and maybe one more across the road). It's right next to the road, but there were no cars at night (it isn't a through road). Enough sand flies that we didn't sit outside, but the view from the van made it all worth it! We were one of two vans here.
It's a car park, so don't be put off, its Stunning views, on a quiet road. We watched birds of prey for hours here it was amazing.
Stayed here for 2 nights with our kids and they loved the place. We did the Glacier trail on one morning the other morning we went to another trail close by. Only few cars on the parking. Unfortunately lots of sandflies so after 5-6 in the campervan.
Only a car or two went past in the early evening. This place is just amazing, incredible views no matter which way you look. They sky was so clear and beautiful at night.
Thanks to all the good people working for the NZ Department of Conservation - for all your hard work - making NZ more beautiful, accessable and healthy! Cheers 😍
