Great site, lovely shady pitches. Really nice host. Close to the town and shops. The showers are amazing. Really good place to base yourself when visiting Paihia and the surrounding area and good value for money. $21nzd +$2 for the shower and free unlimited wifi.

Well where to start.
Let’s start with check in.
We arrived at 1pm. No one there. There is a phone to call them. A frantic voice tell you check in is at 2. all you want from them is your lot, but all campers just had to wait for an hour for nothing.

The kitchen is just a pagola with disgustingly old soiled cookers. Don’t even think of a fridge.bird poo on every chair and table. Would take 5 min to clean up, but no ownership.

$2 for a hot shower when the campground powered is 55 per night with two adults is steep...
Also when the campground is full there is just not enough facilities. Queues at the toilet, shower...

On the upside countdown is just across the road.

Look: in comparison to many European campgrounds we stayed at still good, but far below the kiwi average.

One thing is certain: first and last time here.

Cost $45 for a powered site and two of us, the showers cost $2 for 5 minutes. When I tried to use it the hot water wasn’t working so had to get a member of staff to help, not a very nice shower either lots of empty bottles and blocked drain.
However managed to charge everything and refill van with water. Countdown is across the road which was handy as well. But all in all was expensive for not a lot.

We arrived today and were pretty disappointed. The kitchen is just a small cleaning area. Most of the toilets are in a trailer you know from bigger events. However what was absolutely shameless was the two dollar fee per 5 minutes of hot water in the shower. A powred campsite allready costs 45 for two adults. Never again

Beautiful spot with great amenities. Close walk into town for a little night life and amazing food. Travelling In a campervan and only stayed one night, price at $20/person for non powered was a little steep, but don’t regret spending it!

We loved it here- the hosts were incredibly friendly and the facilities were amazing, yes you pay $2 for a shower but they are the nicest showers I’ve ever had! The host even encouraged me and my husband to share a shower as the cubicles have heaps of room. We never had to wait for either a toilet or a shower.

It is a really nice and new (looking) campervan park. Very nice people and very clean facilities. They do a very good job and have a brilliant system for late arrivals and non-bookers. You can arrive at any time.

I felt very good and cozy (especially recovering a cold in my campervan), hot water always available for tea.

Stayed here 2 nights on campervan road trip. The site is small but lovely grassy slightly shaded pitches with picnic benches if you want them. There are gas BBQs to use, laundry facilities great shower and toilets are very clean. What more do you want on a site . Oh and the hosts are very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay if ever in this part of the world again.

Great little campground, very friendly and helpful lady on reception, also got us a discounted boat trip for the next day, booked for us, tickets printed there and then! Facilities were lovely and clean and fairly modern (although didn’t use the laundry), allowed us to park in spare space while we did the boat trip next day. Only tiny thing would be to have the showers for free.

Clean and modern toilets and showers. Annoying to have to find $2 coin for a shower. Only 2 toilets and 2 showers for 30 sites and no kitchen. Good location near beach, supermarket and town. Pitches close together but separated by olive trees. Park is adjacent to a busy road which does get quieter at night.

We had many problems with this site:
- No electricity to the terminal: the circuit trips all the time
- Washing machine with defects and dryer down
Fortunately, the BBQ was ready!

Bay of Islands Campervan Park responds:

We are sorry you had these experiences - we try for everything to be working well as much as we can. In reference to the Campervan Power I cant say what may have been an issue, all I can reply is that most of our guests don't have any problems - our experince is that if the circuit trips it's usually an appliance in the van. We did have some issues with the electricity supply to the commercial washer and dryer - but our Electrician has dome some re-wiring, so all sorted for future visitors. Hope you enjoyed the Bay of Islands anyhow, sorry again you had some issues. Regards - Gary - Owner

My Mum, two sisters, the family dog and myself stayed two nights here in one of the apartments to attend a family function at the Kingsgate Hotel. What a lovely place to stay. The staff were friendly and very helpful, the apartment was very clean and the heater had been turned on 2 hours before our arrival to make the apartment cosy as it was a little chilly on checkin. Free wifi was available and our dog was able to stay in the apartment with us on her own bed, there was a dog biscuit treat for her as well as human biscuit treats for the rest of us. Countdown is across the road, a simple 5 minute walk away and there is a hot tub in a beautiful bush setting for exclusive use by those of us staying in the apartments. Visitor carparking is also available. I inadvertently left behing my ugg boots and the owners went back to the apartment to look for them after I phoned. They went out of their way to contact me after finding them and have arranged for them to be couriered back to me. All in all a really awesome experience topped off with excellent customer service. I look forward to staying here again.

Fantastic place to stay, in a great secluded location close to the town of Paihia and a 5 minute walk from Countdown supermarket. We stayed for 3 nights on a powered site between the olive trees and by the duck pond. The owners/staff are so nice, accommodating and helpful. The showers and toilets are new and very clean. Hot showers are $2 for 5 minutes, washing machine and dryer are $4 each for a full cycle. The site has waste and grey water disposal as well as drinking water. Wifi is free and very fast, we could watch movies on Netflix with minimal interruptions. Can't fault this place, would definitely stay again, thank you for having us!

Worst night's sleep in just over 2 months in New Zealand, about 20 yards from a busy main road with traffic throughout the night. Also $40 for a powered site for the evening (2 people) but with only 2 toilets for the entire campsite which meant long queues in the morning. For that much you shouldn't have to pay extra for showers, which ran out of hot water after only a couple of minutes. Only benefit of this campsite was the free WiFi.

Bay of Islands Campervan Park responds:

We are sorry that you didnt enjoy your stay so much. We try hard to keep our facilities clean and welcoming, and as much as possible place our guests as far from the road as we can, normally it does quieten down overnight. During the period you stayed we have been busier / more popular than we expected which is possibly why you were placed close to the road. At times at peak times we are aware there can be queues; some guests do seem to take a long time. Which is why our shower timers are set at 5 minutes which the majority of our guests find long enough. The Hot water doesnt run out, its on a timer. Trust you enjoyed your stay in NZ

Perfect place to stay whilst visiting the Bay of Islands. New, modern toilets and showers which were always exceptionally clean and always available. Lovely grass areas with benches (we also had our own bench with our parking spot), lots of bbqs to cook on and washing up facilities. Very close to town to book or go on tours. Loved the owner, very friendly and always happy to help, gave us heaps of advice on what to do and where to go next and even helped us jump start our car when we couldn't get it going in the morning!
