Not *just* for surfers

PiwiWiwi might have a silly name, but we're totally serious about New Zealand road trips.

We are currently FULLY BOOKED until mid-March 2017. For details of our availability and our SPECIAL OFFERS, take a look at our website - piwiwiwi.co.nz/booking/booking-enquiry

Our campervans are fully kitted out to comfortably transport you (and your surfboards) around New Zealand checking everything our country has to offer (beaches, walks, waterfalls, vineyards, or museums - whatever floats your particular boat...)

We have vans tall enough to stand up in yet small enough to park easily. They are all well equipped - we've been campervanning for years, so know what you need and what gets in the way - you just need to bring your clothes, buy some food, and you're away. Our vans have stereos that you can plug your iPod into (you can’t have a road trip without a soundtrack) and USB charging points to keep your gadgets full of juice.

All of our vans are certified SELF CONTAINED so you have access to NZ's beautiful FREEDOM CAMPING spots.

Who wants to start their holiday in a busy city, driving a new van (on the other side of the road) straight after a long flight? With us you can skip that unnecessary hassle. Let us pick you up at the airport and drive you to Raglan where you can start your holiday being nice and relaxed in a beautiful Kiwi seaside town - what's not to like?

Our customers seem to be happy with what we do... why not give us a go too?

We had a hiace campervan and it was very well equiped and really cosy. We felt very safe in it, knowing Niall and Anna would do anything if something would get broken. But nothing did. We travelled in it for 7 weeks, north and south island and everything worked perfect. We saw a lot of other hiaces, but none with aside table like ours! And that was so handy! Also we had a lot of space and boxes for our stuff and we could leave our bags at Anna's.

Thanks Anna and Niall for a great campervan experience. All the info prior to us arriving was really helpful and the travelling tips were great. The van performed well and had all we needed for a fabulous tour of the North Island. Excellent value and service from a local business. Hope to support you again in the future.

The best rental company you can imagine! The owners, Anna and Niall, are very very very friendly and do everything that you can spend a great and stress free holiday in their campervans. From the first inquiry to the drop off of the van everything just went perfect. We've been traveling for 2 months, drove about 5500km and never had any problem with the van. We also rented a surfboard with the van for a more than fair price. Piwiwiwi is the top choice for a holiday in NZ!!

Wow there are not enough words to describe how great Piwiwiwi are!!!
From the very first email I received from Anna and Niall I was impressed, super friendly and not pushy, willing to answer any and all questions we had. We really got the sense that the owners care for each of their customers and want to make each hire the best adventure possible.

The van was well maintained, clean, and comfortable. It had much more provided than we expected, everything is there from pillows to potato masher!!
The van was pleasant to drive and handled even the challenging NZ roads really well.

During our holiday Anna and Niall kept in contact and were genuinely interested in how it was all going. They were always at the end of the phone and willing to help. When we had a problem they went out of their way to resolve it quickly and efficiently.

We cannot recommend Piwiwiwi highly enough, 11 out of 10 if we could. When we return to New Zealand we would use a Piwiwiwi campervan again!

When we decide to organize our self a great 5-weeks round trip in NZ to celebrate our retirement, we contacted several campervan companies, but only PiwiWiwi provided us incredible helpful advice. Anna and Niall answered (quickly and patiently) all our questions and were very flexible.
The transfer from Auckland to Raglan happened stress less and comfortable and was a great opportunity to clarify many practical questions (driving in NZ…) with Niall.
Our Toyota van was expecting us, clean and full equipped, easy to drive and, after 1 hour briefing and loading, for our amazing adventure : 5.200 km, 5 weeks… and no problem.
As hikers, we “surfed” some Great Walks and we appreciated the campervan was self-contained, with a lot of internal space and nice enhancements making our live easier… to spend nights everywhere.
It was also a very comforting feeling to have a 0800 phone number to contact PiwiWiwi at any time for any question or emergency.
PiwiWiwi price was competitive for a top campervan experience ; this was great value for money !
We will definitively recommend you to prefer PiwiWiwi for their personalized service, their friendly partnership and their comfortable & reliable campervans.

WOW! I can't stress enough how impressed (and incredibly happy) we were with our experience renting from Ana & Niall. They really care about providing their customers with a well-maintained, reliable van. We drove all over the South Island (and some of the North) and didn't have a single problem with the van. It was clean, had tonnes of storage space, and extra additions that were bonus conveniences, such as the USB plug for charging electronics. Aside from the van being amazing, Ana gave us some incredibly helpful advice for things to do and see which were outside of the busy touristy spots. Ana also provided us with some great hiking books and a surf guide, and from these we ended up finding some hidden gems. Ana was quick to respond to emails, and very flexible with extending our van rental (although this was in November/early December, so before the busy season). We had originally only booked the van for 18 days, but ended up keeping the van for most of our trip (5 weeks) because we loved it so much. The van was easy to drive, and the 'app' that Ana recommended we download for DOC and free camping spots was one of the better apps - with easy to follow maps. We ended up passing on this info to lots of other travellers that we met along the way. We would 100% recommend renting from them - it was one of the best decisions we ever made in regards to our NZ trip! Niall and Ana were also very accommodating with rides to and from Auckland. To top it all off, Ana and Niall are really awesome people, so we were incredibly happy to be able to help their business thrive!

These guys were awesome. They made their surfing camper van work for me and my family of three. After seeing lots of different campers around the country we realized how thoughtfully there vans are put together. They also helped us out with a refund when we had to leave early; even though they did not have to.
Awesome

Niall and Anna are awesome. You may find yourself contemplating moving to the charming seaside surf town Raglan just to hang out with them and of course, take advantage of the surf and sunsets. The BaseJumper is easily worth the investment in comfort. Comfort in knowing you’ll have the power and nimbleness to navigate the narrow twisting roads and in having a very well maintained and amazingly clean vehicle. You may realize that your house back home is much too large and all you really need in life is contained within the vehicle. I initially chose PiwiWiwi because they are ranked #1 and after spending 3 weeks with their equipment and a fun filled ride to and from the airport, I can say they earned that top spot.

We had great holidays.
Our family (2 adults and one 4 year-old child) rented a small van. The van was clean (I didn't know how van for surfers would look like). All of the additions made a difference to my eyes: (i) self-contained certification gives access to much more freedom, (ii) 4 USB plugs to recharge all electronic appliances, (iii) better sound speakers, because we're are on holidays.

Being the driver, I also appreciated a much more responsive engine and a well spaced gear box (when compared to a similar van from another company last year).

Raglan and Kawhia are much less touristic than the East coast and I really enjoyed black sand, hot springs on the beach. You don't need to go far to start enjoying the landscape.

Anna and her husband really paid attention to our satisfaction. Don't hesitate to tell what needs fixing in the van for the next person hiring it (batteries for the fridge probably reached their end of life).

Make sure to ask them what Piwiwiwi means (I got lost but got the idea anyway). Cheers.

We rented the campervan for 37 days (end October - early December 2014).

When Anna handed over the camper, we got clear instructions and tips, very helpful. There's also a really handy book with instructions and tips for using the campervan, so you can read it all back later.

The campervan itself was very nice. Niall added some nice enhancements himself, like the cup holder en de USB chargers. We were also very happy with the included roadmap, not only useful for finding your way, but for finding campgrounds and sights as well. The diary which came along with the camper - with all the tips from all the people who have been using the van - was great, we used it a lot to find the best stuff to do.

Anna en Niall are great, fun and friendly people! Their service is great and very personal. We wanted to start in Auckland, which wasn't a problem, and after returning the van in Raglan Niall drove us to the airport again.

If we should go to New Zealand again, we definitely get a campervan with Piwiwiwi again. It's an awesome company, and you get great value for your money. Highly recommended!

We explored the whole of NZ - an unique experience & just awesome! This was in many situations thanks to the great campervan we were travelling in.
We first rent it for 37 days, but we just couldn´t leave "our" van :) so we ended up renting it for 40 days. During that time we didn´t experience any problems.
Facts:
40 days (Sept./Oct./Nov.)
6090 km, ~ 700 km gravel roads - we recommend the full insurance if you travel that long & if you plan to go on unsealed roads. It's good to know you can go without any worries about extra costs if the window gets stone-chipped. The GPS included was very useful.
Average fuel consumption at 90 km/h = ~10l Regular, if you cruise around 70-80 km/h you can go under 9I ;)
Time lost because of technical issues: 0 days :)
The car was reliable & had very good tyres. Driving was fun even on steep gravel roads & when raining/snowing.
Anna & Niall equipped the van with everything needed for a comfortable time. We didn´t miss anything & at the same time, the limited room was very well used. You could feel the campervan was equipped by someone who had experience living in it :). It was a very comforting feeling to have different emergency phone numbers in the rare case we did have any questions.
We had been thinking about renting a smaller car. But especially as we were travelling in September/October we were really happy that we had decided to take a bigger van - it´s really worth to be able to cook inside and standing up rather than outside in the cold or rain! We had a nice fridge, big enough for a few days fresh food so we could save money and were more independant. Plus, there was lots of spare room - we didn´t have surfboards, but had no problem to put our tent, hiking gear and lots of other stuff away! Thanks to a port-a-potty (small camping toilet) and a greywater tank the van is certified as self-contained - this means we were allowed to stay in the designated freedom campsites (which most of the time have toilets ;) ).

Small company with very personalized service. Anna was incredibly flexible with our schedule for airport transfers, and was a wealth of information for planning out our itinerary. Driving around the country for a few weeks and seeing the quality of other vans at this size, there is no doubt that Piwiwi vans represent the best of whats on offer in New Zealand. I highly recommend renting the vans that fit into a standard parking space, as you get all the benefits of a fully equipped camper, without any of the hassle of trying to find extra wide parking spaces, etc. We recommend Piwiwiwi to any of our friends who are thinking of visiting New Zealand. Not just for surfers, but we both surf, and this thing was perfect. Great memories.
