PiwiWiwi might have a silly name, but we're totally serious about New Zealand road trips.
For details of our availability, take a look at our website - piwiwiwi.co.nz/booking/booking-enquiry
NEWSFLASH - we're open for the Lions Tour (June / July 2017)
Our campervans are fully kitted out to comfortably transport you (and your surfboards) around New Zealand checking everything our country has to offer (beaches, walks, waterfalls, vineyards, or museums - whatever floats your particular boat...)
We have vans tall enough to stand up in yet small enough to park easily. They are all well equipped - we've been campervanning for years, so know what you need and what gets in the way - you just need to bring your clothes, buy some food, and you're away. Our vans have stereos that you can plug your iPod into (you can’t have a road trip without a soundtrack) and USB charging points to keep your gadgets full of juice.
All of our vans are certified SELF CONTAINED so you have access to NZ's beautiful FREEDOM CAMPING spots.
Who wants to start their holiday in a busy city, driving a new van (on the other side of the road) straight after a long flight? With us you can skip that unnecessary hassle. Let us pick you up at the airport and drive you to Raglan where you can start your holiday being nice and relaxed in a beautiful Kiwi seaside town - what's not to like?
Our customers seem to be happy with what we do... why not give us a go too?
Raglan-by-the-Sea, the perfect place to start your New Zealand roadtrip. We can chauffeur you the 2 hours from Auckland saving you the stress of driving a new vehicle on the wrong side of the road in a busy city while jet-lagged!

After I booked my ticket to NZ I had to figure out everything else from there…..rent a car, stay in Hotels / Hostels etc. After some checking around, it seemed a campervan was my best option because of the flexibility and ultimately the cost too. I was almost ready to book with a faceless company and hope all would work out. By luck, when checking out NZ surf stuff on Surfline, I saw PiwiWiwi’s advertisement and visited the website. The vibe was so different than all the others and really spoke to me. I emailed several questions and responses were always prompt and written as though I had a friend there vs. a vendor looking for my business. They even hooked me up with a great mountain bike which was a HUGE addition to my trip. I had a little challenge along the way, and they were super responsive in getting it taken care of…which is really the ultimate measure of a good company to work with because things are not always perfect.
As a surfer…..there are the obvious advantages of this vehicle but possibly the biggest advantage to me (someone who drives on the LEFT side of the road) was starting out in Raglan. Trust me, after a LONG flight you don’t want to try to learn this on the city streets of Auckland. As a surfer, you gotta check out Raglan for a few days anyway....so why not start there?
If you want to rent a campervan for your NZ adventure, definitely connect with PiwiWiwi and see what they can do for you….and have an incredible Journey!
Anna and Niall were so lovely and helpful when we rented the van - every base was covered and they are very passionate about their vans and travelling NZ!
We took a van for 5 days just for a mini tour and just loved our Piwiwiwi! Fully kitted out with everything you could need and clearly the design has been thought about. Perfect and compact.
We couldn't have picked a better company to use for our first Kiwi experience....loved them :)

Anna and Nial are amazingly friendly and helpful, they made the whole rental process a pleasure. They made time to give us some excellent recommendations on where to visit and stay.
We found the vans the perfect size for two, big enough to live in, with all mod cons, fridge, cooker etc so that we didnt need to eat out, topped off with an amazing nights sleep! They were also very easy to drive, handling like a car, which is important on New Zealand's beautiful but sometimes challenging roads. To top it off, they were great value, with extremely competitive prices.
We did not use the surf board customisations as we were on honeymoon, but I am seriously considering learning to surf so that we can try them out when we return new year!

I recently rented with PiwiWiwi for three weeks over the Christmas and New Year period. I got the recommendation from a friend who knew both Anna and Niall, and decided to give them a ring. Straight away I was impressed by a friendly welcoming attitude on the phone, as well as daily hire rates that were considerably cheaper than any other campervan hire company based in Auckland. When I arrived at the house in Raglan I was very impressed by the hospitality shown (cup of tea, biscuit etc!), which made a real impression, as it didn't feel as if they were trying to take your money and get rid of you in 5 minutes.
As for the van the guys have literally thought of everything to ensure you have all the comforts of home within reaching distance of your bed. Nothing had been left out, and there is even usb/mp3 sockets at convenient places around the interior for added home comforts. The van itself I found to be very economical, provided you stick within the speed limits! After the trip if you need to be in a certain place then the guys will happily drive you back up to Hamilton, making catching a train/bus/flight easy.
All in all the last 3 weeks have been a dream come true for me, and that in no small part is due to PiwiWiwi and their awsome vans, as well as friendliness. Anyone asking in the future about hiring a van will get one answer from me, PiwiWiwi! Thankyou for the experience and oppertunity guys!
I hired a car from Piwiwiwi after a reccommendation from a local hostel, Anna and Niall are super lovely people and went out of their way to help me (they even came to pick me up in the car!), it was an estate car which i could have slept in if needed as the seats folded flat, and it had a USB and good stereo. I would reccommend Piwiwiwi to anyone, especially those who dislike the big hire car companies and want a more personal experience! Cheers, see you again soon!! Dan :)
What a great camper and what a hassle free way to have a great holiday!
This is the first time I've rented a camper and well if you consider that this was a birthday present to a none surfing girlfriend aside the fact I am now in proper brownie point credit, less I say more about how much we both enjoyed it?
The surf racks kept my babies safe but out of the way, usb ports kept all iPods and so forth running nicely, cooking was easy with plenty of storage and good kit plus we actually slept 9 hours every night, testament to a comfy bed!
Waking up to sunrises and surf in one of these babies is the business. Driving them to and between the spots for the best waves is easy, smooth and pretty cheap on fuel too.
The guys at piwiwiwi were great to deal with from start to finish and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone with an ounce of NZ surf wanderlust.
Ace campervans, ace people to deal with, and ace holiday. We hired a campervan to cruise around new zealand watching the world cup and finding out what nz had to offer and we wher blown away, but it was only made by piwiwiwi so profesional with fanily touch. If i ever go back to nz i'll be using them again 100%. campervans have everything you need, all the sockets etc, even down to fine details like usb socket, bed was realy comfy and the van was lovely to drive. TOP CAMPERVAN COMPANY!
Myself and my boyfriend recently decided to have a spontaneous surf trip to Taranaki and wanted the comfort of knowing we had somewhere to sleep where the surf was pumping. We found an ad for Piwiwiwi on a surf website and were very impressed by the fact that they are set up to store surfboards inside. The custom made straps mean that you can keep several boards(even longboards)strapped to the inside roof and still have plenty of room for standing up/cooking/sleeping/sitting at the table. The van was perfect for Taranaki because you often find yourself spending heaps of time at remote surf locations and the van is completely self-sufficient so it's easy to spend a night away from a campsite. The van ran like a dream and has plenty of grunt, we especially liked the folding table which turns into a double-bed. The guys at Piwiwiwi were super helpful and friendly but also professional. There are lots of extras that come with the van including a surfing guide to NZ book, chairs and heaps of accessories. I would have no problems recommending Piwiwiwi to anyone who likes a smaller company with a personal touch.
I was very lucky to stumble upon this young Raglan company and its great package, the immaculate campervan was delivered to me quite early on a sunday morning and It was quickly apparent that this van was the business, It was decked out for some serious travelling, with all the neccessary electrical equipment and plenty of plugs in the front and back for charging electrics, was capable of strapping two boards to the inside of the van and it even had a jack lead for my ipod, serious tunes. I found the van very solid on the road and was pleasantly suprised by the fuel economy. this van was the business. The head height inside the van made it perfect for those imperfect new zealand days. thank you piwiwiwi, you made my trip. jimmy, galway, ireland
I’ve just returned from a month’s road trip cruising New Zealand in a Piwiwiwi campervan. I decided to use Piwiwiwi as they were always prompt responding to emails and calls, and as a smaller company I felt I was getting a more personal service. The vans were also equipped with everything I could possible want, kitchen stuff, camping chairs, Sat Nav and USB connectors so that I could keep my phone/mp3, etc charged. When I collected the van, Niall and Anna were welcoming and gave me a detailed guide of the van, so I felt at ease driving it around. They clearly love NZ and gave great tips of places to visit.
The van was a breeze to drive, because it isn’t too wide you could easily park and manoeuvre around, which is great as some of the roads and bridges are extremely narrow. It also had plenty of power to get me up steep roads. The van is extremely spacious inside; you can stand up to make tea! It has plenty of storage space so your belongings aren’t on view inside. The bench seats and table lay flat to give you a double sized bed, with the curtains closed it felt private and secure.
I toured around and covered 3000km without any issues, I loved my van it felt like home and I was sad to leave it. As a single woman traveller I felt confident and Piwiwiwi exceeded all my expectations. Excellent!!
