They are all well equipped - we've been campervanning for years, so know what you need and what gets in the way - you just need to bring your clothes, buy some food, and you're away. Our vans have stereos that you can plug your iPod into (you can’t have a road trip without a soundtrack) and USB charging points to keep your gadgets full of juice.
All of our vans are certified SELF CONTAINED so you have access to NZ's beautiful FREEDOM CAMPING spots.

Let us pick you up at the airport and drive you to Raglan where you can start your holiday being nice and relaxed in a beautiful Kiwi seaside town - what's not to like?
Our customers seem to be happy with what we do... why not give us a go too?

Just returned from a month-long Piwiwiwi camper van holiday throughout NZ (we travelled 3,300 kilometers). Cannot think of a better way to have more fun and better adventure than being self-contained in a mini camper van from Piwiwiwi. New Zealanders and visitors are crazy about traveling with camper vans; as such, the camping infrastructure is easy and plentiful. Being self-contained in one of the well-equipped and comfortable Piwiwiwi vans made our time in New Zealand fun and relaxing.
We initially chose another van rental company, but quickly redirected our business to Anna and Niall when their personal attention and interest in addressing our queries demonstrated their desire to provide superior service. We went with them because of the following: no hidden costs, they were easy to work with and the van was a reasonably priced package. The website says it all; they honestly deliver the goods as advertised.
The van we rented was by some standards a little older (2003) than some of the other rentals out there, but we found the vehicle was well-maintained, clean, well-appointed with the essentials and ready to use. A Toyota Hi-Ace is commonly known as one of the hardest wearing workhorses in the industry. Ours ran like a top! It started every time, had a solar panel that kept the fridge running all the time (no worrying about leaving the car for multi-day hikes), ran on regular leaded fuel (best priced gas) and never let us down. The smaller dimensions make it easy to handle and allowed us to stop in normal parking spots in towns (and other places one might not consider with a larger unit).
The interior was equipped with everything we needed to live comfortably for a month for two people. How nice not to have to put up and take down a tent. Bring your camera and clothing as everything else is included, even a beach towel.
Piwiwiwi is a 10 in our books and NZ is a must do.
Me and my wife rented a piwiwiwi campervan for our honeymoon. We lived in the toyata hiAce for 2.5 months and were absolutely happy with it. The campervan never caused any trouble and Anna and Niall (the lovely couple behind piwiwiwi) have put a lot of useful stuff in it. We also rented 2 surfboards that could be stored easily inside the van (on the top) without getting in our way when cooking, sleeping etc. Before we started our trip I have checked out many other companies but piwiwiwi had by far the best offer (price) and the friendliest replies. No matter what questions we had before or during the trip: Anna answered all of them and offered solutions tailored to our needs. She even asked us about our travelling interests and based on that gave advice on where to stay. Niall drove all the way from Raglan to Auckland to pick us up in our hotel. This review is not a commercial. We were just truly impressed by Anna and Niall and completely satisfied with the campervan and the fair price we paid for it. Cheers, Anu & Marcel from Switzerland

If you are planning a trip to New Zealand, most will tell you that a self contained camper van is the way to go, and our experience with Piwiwiwi was absolutely perfect! The personalized service and caring attitude was just the beginning. Our month long adventure through the north and south islands was made so much more fun by having our home on wheels. Traveling by camper van had the flexibility that we wanted during our vacation, and the days spent driving were some of the most beautiful. The camper van is outfitted with everything you need, and I was surprised at how much I loved our little house, and how much space I actually needed. Initially we thought that we would spend the occasional night at a hotel or B&B, but we found staying in the cozy camper van was the best and easiest option. It was easy to cook on the little stove top , and we even invited a camp neighbor over for dinner one rainy night and we sat together at the surprisingly spacious table(which then easily turns into a bed). The whole experience was such a dream that I have reconsidered how much "stuff" I actually need and have begun to simplify and purge- is it going too far to say life changing??All expectations exceeded- Highly highly recommended!

My husband and I rented a HiAce from Anna & Niall for 31 nights over December 2015 and January 2016. We had such an amazing time. I had e-mails with Anna for a good number of months beforehand and she was always so helpful in sending over advice. On arrival we were picked up from the airport and Anna then sat with us for a couple of hours and we talked over a map; she recommended places to visit and gave us useful booklets on DOC campsites, a big book of everything NZ... it was all covered.
We had a detailed tour of our van (Percy) and set off! As non-surfers the van still had everything we needed. There was enough storage space for our clothes, luggage bags, shoes etc. All the utensils you could need are included, as are other helpful things like a foldout table, camping chairs, a blanket should you need it and ample electronic charging points. My husband is 6'4" and was worried about headroom - it was all good. So for anyone wondering if height will be an issue, don't worry (unless you are vastly taller than 6'4").
I would recommend to anyone to rent from PiwiWiwi and I am so glad we chose them. I feel that we had a hundred times better customer service than we would have if we went with other well known brands that you see all over NZ.... I feel that we had extra perks like the lifts to/from the airport, the hours and hours of advice, the posting home of a hat we accidentally left in the van! I could go on...
If you are planning a trip to NZ, give these guys a shout!! They care that their customers have a great time and are not just a sales number.
We miss our van and NZ and hope to come back, so Anna & Niall, I hope to be renting from you again :-)
My wife and I rented a HiAce for five weeks and loved our experience. Anna and Niall were great to work with all the way from booking to returning to the airport. Anna spent a lot of time with us before we took off to review our itinerary and provide excellent inside tips about where to go and where the best camping spots are. This session led us to alter our itenerary for the better.
As non-surfers we found the van to be kitted up nicely. Many campervans have huge logos and/or graphics that scream "I am a tourist please steal stuff from me" but the Piwiwiwi vans aren't branded and really make you feel like a local in and out of campgrounds and freedom camping spots. It's a small company that provides great customer service - I know because I banged up our van a little and they handled everything for us so it didn't add any stress to our trip. The prices are great compared to other companies but, the vans are a little older. We had had a couple of maintenance issues with the van that were handled great by Anna and Niall but were still an inconvenience. From reading other reviews though it doesn't appear to be a widespread problem and we are just one data point. To reiterate, the customer service was incredible. If/when we come back to NZ (it is amazing) we would definitely rent from Piwiwiwi again. It is almost a month later and we are still talking about how much we miss our van Templeton.
Such a great experience! Niall and Anna have done an amazing job with their small fleet of vans. They are very well maintained and have everything you could ever need. I should know after 6 weeks of living in one that there were no complaints or lacking of equipment. There was not one problem with the van during the entire trip! It started and ran perfectly every day, even after I put over 12,000 km on it! Starting off in Raglan was fantastic, one of my favorite towns in all NZ. It allowed for awesome first and last nights and a relaxing town to start the adventure, compared to starting in busy Auckland. Definitely got better treatment by the locals in this van as it wasn't a giant RV with huge banners and logos of the rental company's name. (Hope Niall decides to keep the logos off!) Everyone thought I owned it! Loved that the most as I was able to share some beers, surf stories and even whitebait with some locals :) If you are a surfer, look no further and book with Piwiwiwi. The van is rigged with everything you could need, easy board storage and Raglan is a great surf town to start out. Driving manual was no problem, even when I learned just 2 weeks prior to the trip! For the price, service, quality of the van, and overall experience, look no further than Piwiwiwi!!! I will definitely be booking with them in the future and suggesting them to everyone I know!
Firstly let me just say that Anna and Niall were amazing, from the initial contact right the way through the whole trip. I had a fantastic time travelling around the North island with Ruru (one of the Base Jumper Campervans), and I honestly couldn’t think of a better way to see New Zealand.
After collecting me from the airport Anna and Niall spent plenty of time with me explaining the features of the van and some of the best spots to visit, they also provided me with a copy NZ Frenzy which is great guide book from seeing some of the hidden gems of the North Island.
The Base Jumper Campervan has everything you need for a great trip - just chuck your stuff in, add fuel and food & drink and away you go. Having a self-contained vehicle also allows you stay in Freedom camping spots around New Zealand, which means you can stay overnight right by the beach for free!
If you’re planning to visit New Zealand, give these guys a shout before anyone else, I honestly cannot recommend them enough.
Thanks again Anna and Niall for making my first couple of month in New Zealand so memorable.
Niall & Anna are awesome!!
We were looking for a camper-van company that was friendly, accommodating & above average for customer service....that is exactly what we got!!
Right from the initial enquiry Piwiwiwi were the most helpful, their quote was competitive & as we were to discover, excellent value for money!!
When we arrived in New Zealand we were picked up & transported to Piwiwiwi's base in Raglan by the lovely Anna, we were taken on a thorough tour of our van & Anna made sure we were happy with everything before we went on our way, assuring us that they were just a phone-call away!!
During our journey we rang them a couple of times, as we were unsure of the NZ way of doing things & they were only too happy to help!!
I can't recommend this company highly enough, other than to say they are the only camper-van company we'd choose WHEN we come back to the beautiful country of New Zealand!!!
MASSIVE THANKS TO ANNA & NIALL AT PIWIWIWI!!!
We spent five amazing weeks travelling around the North and South Islands in a BaseJumper. What's not to like? We aren't surfers but the van was equipped with absolutely everything we could need, and more. We had very hot weather, very cold weather and very very wet weather and the van kept us cool or warm and dry as we needed! We self-catered nearly all of the time and found it really easy. Fridge is a great size so you can stock up, which can be a big help - especially on the South Island. Wine rack too! We didn't freedom camp but stayed on a mix of holiday parks and DOC campsites, with and without power, and never experienced a problem. Anna was great, right from our first enquiry through to our last contact, and she gave us some really good tips about places to stay and things to do. We really can't recommend Piwiwiwi highly enough and if you have an opportunity to get out and see New Zealand in one of their vans then go for it. :-D
Lee & Sarah .
For our NZ leg of our 'Round the world trip' we wanted to do it in a camper. Finding the right company, never mind van, is daunting.
For us, our criteria was as follows: value for money, excellent customer service, good-sized van. Simple as that. Money and van size are the obvious ones and will no doubt be top of this list no matter your budget or trip plan. Customer service might be the curve ball. This was important to us for 3 reasons:
1. 6 weeks and nearly 6,000km means a long time on the road. If we needed advice and tips, we wanted to know we could get it.
2. All the vans, no matter who you go with, will have clocked up some miles. So if something goes wrong, you want to know it'll be dealt with in the best and fastest way possible to keep you motoring.
3. It's just a lot more pleasant if the people you're dealing with care, love what they do and are just nice to deal with from the outset.
So rather than waffle, we'll tell you that Anna & Niall's Piwiwwi ticked all the boxes. Right from our initial email exchanges, through to meeting them and going for breakfast together at the end of our trip, we felt reassured and happy. We hired the Basejumper for the extra room and it was the perfect size. We took it all around the North & South islands, mainly freedom & DOC camped and loved it. The Basejumper is a workhorse. Nice to drive, easy to park and kitted out well. Extra touches put in by the team all added to our enjoyment. Our van had 'a moment' at one point with an electrical issue, completely out of the Piwiwwi teams control. We were well in our travels as well but a quick call to Anna & Niall and they were all over it. They took control, did all the liaising with the local mechanics and got us back on the road. Just highlighting exactly why it's important to make sure the company you're hiring from is going to take care of you when and if you need them.
So far, on our world trip, NZ has been our high point so we wanted to say thank you to Anna & Niall.
As Piwi is Niall and Anna's own business they really care about their customers and give a first class service. Excellent handover with all the personalised help you could want. We had the Base Jumper which was really comfortable and extremely well equipped. The GPS was a godsend when looking for remote campsites.
Anna and Niall are great, the campervan was very reliable, customer service both beforehand and during our hire was excellent (they answered loads of questions in detail), and overall they know how to look after their customers! Would definitely use them again and would definitely recommend.
Everything everyone says: it's true!
We had an awesome expierence.
