Exceptional service and great quality camper vans

PiwiWiwi might have a silly name, but we're totally serious about New Zealand road trips.

Our campervans are fully kitted out to comfortably transport you around New Zealand checking everything our country has to offer (beaches, walks, waterfalls, vineyards, or museums - whatever floats your particular boat...)

We have vans tall enough to stand up in yet small enough to park easily. They are all well equipped - we've been campervanning for years, so know what you need and what gets in the way - you just need to bring your clothes, buy some food, and you're away. Our vans have stereos that you can plug your iPod into (you can’t have a road trip without a soundtrack) and USB charging points to keep your gadgets full of juice. For all you surfers - we're also the only company in NZ with surfboard stroage straps in our vans to keep your boards safely out of your way when you're not in the waves. For cyclists - we have bike racks for our vans too.

All of our vans are certified SELF CONTAINED so you have access to NZ's beautiful FREEDOM CAMPING spots.

Our customers seem to be happy with what we do... why not give us a go too?

We absolutely loved our campervan from PiwiWiwi <3 Their personal approuch is the best! Nick and Julie were interested, friendly and excellent in their communication. They picked us up from our hotel, checked every now and then to make sure we were doing good and they made our 4 weeks roundtrip through the South Island an unforgetable holiday. The campervan itself was perfect and clean, it is the right size, drives very good and has everything you need.

This is the second time that we have taken a holiday in NZ and we chose to hire a van again from PiwiWiwi. We felt that PiwiWiwi's customer service was even better than previous - and it was great last time! Our van was super reliable. We asked for the exact same van as last time (memories!) and we had no issues at all. Not one! He did us proud. The first thing we thought when we drove off was; the van feels taken care of. You can tell that PiwiWiwi take time between customers to make sure their vans are as well presented as they possibly can be.
Nick and Julie were so warm and helpful. Always happy to help or answer questions on the run-up to the holiday. Happy to sit down and talk with us in their own home on our arrival and make us feel welcome, after collecting us from the airport. It was great to get some tips and ask their opinion as locals on some of the places we were thinking of visiting. Nick checked if we were getting on OK after there had been some bad weather mid-way through our trip. They care about their customers!
We had a fantastic 31 days in our PiwiWiwi van and wouldn't hesitate to hire from them again if we return (really hope we can in the not too distant future!).

Our PiwiWiwi was just perfect. It was clean, had all the stuff you might need and drove along smoothly for 7.500 kilometres - Nick told us we are currently holding the record for the season! :) The vans might not be the newest but in fact, in comparison to newer models, we found that we liked ours the best: the layout is very clever and we often noticed that we had much more storage space for our stuff than most other people in different (and newer) vans. Being able to stand, sit and cook inside is a big bonus during rainy days. Nick and Julie had great some great tips for our journey and were lovely hosts. Thanks again for everything!

We had a perfect service with PiwiWiwi Campervans! Right from the very beginning, when we were planning our trip, to the end of our travels, when we were dropped back at the check-in desk for our flight home. A very personal and family orientated company. The campervan itself was very clean, everything in good working order and very well organised. We have a campervan at home and so have experience with vans- we found this camper layout very comfortable to live in. In fact, so comfortable, that during our trip we got engaged! We would definitely recommend PiwiWiwi to anybody wanting to travel New Zealand!

What an amazing service it has been! We were a 3-generation family of 6, renting 2 vans from Piwiwiwi to cover the North and South island in 6 weeks time. The communication throughout the renting proces (before and during) has been flawless, with Nick being available for any request or question. The vans are perfect, and found a sleeping solution for our 2 small kids with Nick beforehand. During our travels we also added bicycles to the rental for a few weeks, which was great (including brand new child seats!). Piwiwiwi does not spare any effort to make you feel welcome and serviced.
The vans are as complete as you can imagine, up to the beach towels and cooking kits/camp chairs. We wanted for nothing throughout -> Highly recommended!

We traveled New Zealand for 4 weeks with PiwiWiwi and are extremely pleased with the service!

The owners Nick and Julie were wonderful hosts. Upon arrival, guests are picked up from the airport or in our case our hotel where we spend one night to recuperate (highly recommended), and were brought to the airport at the end of our trip. We really enjoyed the fact that piwiwiwi is a small family business and Nick and Julie take the time to explain everything and answer any question you might have before going on the road. Also during our trip, we were able to contact them at any time when we had a question about the car.

Even though the campervan was not the newest model, that was actually a good thing! Newer vans have a lot of (too much for us) storage space and limited space to maneuver within the campervan, whereas ours had perfect proportions and really nice features such as USB chargers added to it. The van includes everything you need in terms of utensils, pots, pans, linen, and we could take two extra camping chairs free of charge. Also the fact that the van isn't branded is a bonus. The van was easy to drive and made all the mountain peaks and hills easily. Only hiccup was that the water tank was air-locked quite often making it seem like the tank was empty. With help from Nick we figured out how to fix this problem.

We definitely recommend this company!

Nick and his family/team at PiwiWiwi Campervans provide a 5* service that I would recommend to anyone looking to hire a camper to explore NZ. They picked us up from the airport (and returned us to the airport after our adventure) which took the stress out of wondering where to go after we arrived in the country. We were given a very useful tour of the van, which was a Toyota HiAce which has an excellent layout and is fully kitted out/self contained for freedom camping for a couple of people (or couple with young child). PiwiWiwi gave us some top tips on where to go before we set off, and they checked on us halfway through our trip to ensure we were ok. We certainly had an excellent holiday thanks to them. I strongly recommend you consider using PiwiWiwi for your campervan hire.

SUMMARY:
We would definitely recommend Piwiwiwi!
SERVICE:
Piwiwiwi was high quality service from start to finish on our 26 day rental. The van ran perfectly the entire time. Nick was helpful and accessible the entire trip. The whole experience felt very personal and positive, a perk of renting from a small, family operation.
CAMPER:
The van itself is one of the older models so you are not going to win any races going up hills. Just take advantage of all the lovely view points and pull-outs.
All in all it was a cosy and comfortable set up, everything was well cared for and very clean.
The set up with the kitchen in the front, bed in the back, is ideal with adequate storage and very well stocked. It had every thing we needed (think the little things like cheese grater, bottle opener, French press for coffee and tea, clothes line and pins, camping chairs and so on).
There was enough standing room for two people to move around comfortably.
The bed was firm but not too firm, still very comfortable. The extra pillows and extra blanket were very welcome!
Lighting in the van was very good, which was particularly nice for those rainy afternoons and evenings.
We cooked plenty on the little stove and it worked very well. I recommend setting up the table either outside or inside for additional food preparation space, worked like a charm for us.
ISSUES:
On the first day we noticed the secondary battery was not charging via driving (was fine if plugged in). We contacted Nick and it was sorted immediately.
We also had an issue with the passenger side door. It would not make a tight seal. We decided not to bother Nick with this while we were traveling. It was more of a minor annoyance than anything and we wanted to keep on the move. Unfortunately for us, we found out the hard way that when it rained hard, it would leak. We walked through this with Nick when we dropped off the van. He was very apologetic and is getting it looked at right away.

Extremely pleased with the overall Piwiwiwi experience in New Zealand.

Nick, the business owner, is incredibly professional and very friendly. He'll pick you up from the airport, provide you with every single bit of information you need to have an awesome trip. His pricing are very competitive and there are absolutely no hidden fees. Everything is explained black and white during the communication with him to secure the booking.

They cares so much about the 8 vans they own, that he and his wife actually clean and prep them by themselves instead of paying someone to do it. Conclusion: A very clean van, in excellent working order (not once in 20 days did we have anything fail on us) and most of all very discreet (no branding)...and trust me that's a big plus out there!

Van has got plenty of space for all your stuff, an actual full size double bed, stove, fridge, sink... and an oven! It's also fully loaded with quality cooking equipment!

100% recommend this company, enjoy your trip!

Delighted with everything after my 5 week surf / SUP tour of North and South Islands with PiwiWiwi Campervans.
I could tell from the start from the personal emails, answering all my questions including "Will a 9ft x 30" SUP fit in the roof with a 6'4" surfboard?" Answer YES! and it was easy - They both went up there in the straps and when then tilted I had almost full headroom in the middle of the van. Would have managed a 9'6" easily. Perfect - Boards safe, paddle under the bed and hired bike strapped on the back - I was away on 6250KM trip.
The van was reliable, fast enough and comfortable to do long hours on the roads, which is easy to do with that amazing landscape out of each window, everywhere you go.
Major advantage of this smaller van size is the ease of parking - Spent a week in St Clairs, Dunedin where I was able to park overlooking the point break each day and wait for optimal surf conditions while drinking tea! No larger van would have got anywhere near this spot.
I started off Freedom camping, but the camp sites are cheap - Normally $20NZ per night - Quite reasonable. 4G is nearly everywhere so navigation with Google Maps on your phone is easy - Bring a phone mount!
On my arrival and departure, Nick and Julie were most hospitable - The van was parked in the shade of an outbuilding to let me settle in and pack up in comfort - The weather was great!
If I go back to NZ I will definitely do it with PiwiWiwi Campervans.
Leave all your travel plugs etc. at home - Plenty of power by the USB chargers front and back of vans. Didn't use the portaloo, as toilets everywhere in NZ, and much better quality then I'm used to in the UK.
Do not hesitate to book - You won't get it cheaper or better elsewhere!
PS. I scored some epic surf and the surfers are pretty friendly if you are considerate in your approach! Even to a SUP!

Thanks to PiwiWiwi we had a great experience travelling NZ. They are a family business, the contact is personal & warm. Before the trip, they gave us some practical tips, and when we were there we noticed that they really do 'the extra mile' for their customers.

While looking for campervans before the trip, we didn't know about some little details that make the travel better. The vans are very well-organised with the optimal storage vs. space ratio. They are tidy and contain all that is necessary (sheets, blankets, towels, etc.). The van was reliable, the engine ran smoothly, and we felt at ease. Although, we felt completely assured knowing their well organisation, in case of any issues.

During the trip, we really liked that there wasn't any advertisement on the van. Before the travel, we thought that a portable toilet would be necessary (which the vans do contain), but NZ is full of public toilets and showers. This made the type of campervan perfect : compact but spacious. The vans are Self-Contained, which means you can camp on all available places.

We can keep on writing all positive aspects, but there's one argument that beats all: when we come back to NZ, it will be with PiwiWiwi :-) !!

Thanks Nick & Julie, and Holly hopefully we see each other again :-)
