Available to self-contained campervans only
North Island ▷ Manawatu - Wanganui ▷ Whanganui
We couldn't find the campsite as indicated on the Rankers app, because apparently the RSA club moved to another place in town in August 2018. The campsite is now located behind the RSA building on Ridgway Street. Just ask them, they are happy to help! We could use their facilities, which was great. Don't expect a lot of the camping area though, it's just a simple car park. We were the only ones camping that night.
Great spot for self contained campers. Free power hookup if needed and friendly staff inside the RSA with great prices. Earlier in week is better as can be noisy with the two allotted parks right next to kitchen and staff break area.
Save up to 70% on campsite fees! Support conservation and experience the natural beauty of NZ. 79 Department of Conservation campsites, one convenient pass.
After reading the reviews this looked like a great spot to camp for the night butwhen we arrived we discovered the council has changed the laws and u can no longer camp overnight 😔 what a pity!
Lovely town filled with kind people and art galleries. A downtown spot (with power) for our campervan was perfect! Stopped in the RSA office early afternoon and was told to return after 3pm when the lot would be available. Thank you so much, RSA!!!
Access savings worth hundreds of $$ on Top Ranked NZ Accommodation and Activities for just $1 per day.
Stayed in December, middle of Wanganui, on the RSA car park. We were lucky to get a power socket (one of two) - offered free by the RSA club! Thanks so much! Go & check your parked ok, have a drink and/or dinner there, say hi to Keely - everyone was very friendly. Wanganui was quite a cool town.
Free parking with power. Ask at the RSA desk. Very friendly staff. Thank you for letting us stay at your parking lot.
Very friendly staff who were only too happy to help. 2 power sockets available so get in early. Best scotch fillet for $22 I've ever had. Would have been a 10 but we stayed there on a Saturday night and the hoons were out. It was a car park and we were grateful of the free power.
What a great gesture from the Wanganui RSA Club in providing this free facility in their car park. Thank you Kyle and your staff and members. We were warmly greeted by Club members (bloody Orstrailians - can't play Rugby!!) and staff when we stayed there on 9 April 2016. Great beer and wines served by absolutely superb hosts in Keely and Penny. The restaurant also had great value meals. Stay here and support this Club, you won't be disappointed. There are toilets down the street on right side opposite Farmers (near Observatory I think) about 1.5 blocks away. If you are Aussie, you may be able to coach them on how to bowl underarm at cricket!!!
Very convenient location close in downtown if you want to visit a pub and have a night out.
Great Overnight spot. 2 x power points, centre of town. No outside hours facilities but Toilets, Bar meals, Restaurant most nights and lunch times during opening hours.. First in best dressed just need to check with the Club Office or Reception/Bar) out of courtesy first.Central to all town facilities Bars, Meals, Shows, Library, Museum and so on. Stayed here twice.
Great place, no facilities, but free parking with power sockets for free! Ask in the RSA of your not sure where to park
