Back in 2013 we visited NZ by car, and immediately know we had to come back and ride a Harley. After some searching on the net I ran across Bularangi's homepage; all the information given their gave us a pretty good feeling that they may be the RIGHT people to deal with.
After intial contact was established Ali was more than very helpful to plan our 4 weeks trip. She even sent a motorcycle atlas to Germany, and gave us additional recommendations based on their experience.
When we arrived a perfectly maintained ULTRA CLASSIC was waiting for us in Auckland. Minor problems, i.e. missing tie-downs for the ferry crossings, were solved immediately. Ali showed her concern when cyclone Pam hit NZ and she contacted us to make sure we understand the situation and how to avoid any risk. We stayed at the Bularangi Lodge in Waihi and Ali spent time with us for an exceptional diner.
We put about 6200 km on the bike, with no problem at all - me dropping it is not the bikes problem :-(
I cannot see anybody beating Bularangi when it comes to touring or hiring a Harley Davidson in NZ.
Thanks again Ali; we had the time of our lifetime.
The guys at Bularangi could not have been more helpful to a pair of virtual novices from England. The bike was in prefect order & we were given all the kit we needed to handle copious amounts of baggage. Importantly, prior to our arrival & over several weeks, Baz or Ali were extremely prompt & helpful with endless email queries & we appreciated their patience. We can't credit Bularangi with creating some of the finest scenery in the world on the South Island but certainly seeing it on one of their bikes made it extra special
On Holiday from the UK. Had a fabulous days ride out from Auckland to and around the coromandel peninsula, very good prices, hired a roadking which was very nicely turned out and rode wonderfully, jackets and helmets supplied, we had a guide for the day who showed us the best route and to give us some local insight. A real nice guy and good rider/guide. I Would recommend this company and this route (but not a great route if your not an experienced rider as the road is very twisty up and downhill ) We loved it😎
We (me and my wife) love to ride a trike on scenic roads.
We have done part of the Route 66 USA (one week journey) and gone from Germany to Nordkapp (Norway) in a 84 days trike journey.
We also have done many tours with our trike over here in Brazil.
But we never ever have so nice and enjoyable journey as in New Zealand.
Ali and Baz are the ones responsible for that.
Fantastic support. Very personal attention in choosing the most scenic roads and very comfortable accommodation.
Congratulations for this special way of treating your customers.
Nothing is perfect so you get a 9! and may I say thank you very much.. good people at the front and the back of the scoot adventure.
EMMANUEL DIAS DA SILVA
We´re a long time Harley riders (me and my wife) in Brazil (where we ride our bike) and worldwide (Europe, US, South America, always on rented bikes), so I am very comfortable to state that we´ve never had the highest level of services (we could say “personal care”) we´ve got from Baz (the Master of the Bikes) and (Ali, the Angel Guardian of our journey). They provide good bikes, maps, accommodation, tips and a valuable support to fulfill my wife´s dream to be at the Hobbit premiere in Wellington and to have a dinner at Hobbiton´s Green Dragon Pub
We did a 20 days independent tour in both islands, riding 3000km in 2 bikes and 15 overnight places. Even though it was a complete unknown country (continent, hemisphere) for us (not to mention the left lane drive “look right and drive left” – Baz´ golden tip), we felt always very confident and protected by our Boularangi friends, like when we face a sturdy thunderstorm in Coromandel Peninsula and Ali shows all her concern, care and professionalism, advising us to stay one day more where we are, to avoid us to drive amidst the storm.
We will surely be back to NZ (we´ve miss the Coromandel Loop on a good wheather, it rained all the time ) and surely will hire Boularangi again.
Thanks and cheers to all you kiwi awesome guys
Ali and Baz have got to be the best "business/customer" oriented people I have ever met. They provided a great experience for us, with very well maintained scooters. I could not have asked for more. It was like meeting up with my best bros right from start to finish.
Like Spinaltap's amps, these folks are a definite "11". Thank you so very much!
Great experience!! great people
They are the best!!
I will recommend to anyone wanting to hire a bike in NZ.
These guys were absolutely great. They dropped off the new and well cared for bike at the hotel on the evening before my trip, programmed my gps already with the nicest routes and off I was. Coming from Switzerland I had to concentrate on the left hand traffic, but with Baz's tips I got the hang of it quick. Ali at the office organized a Hobitton tour and tickets ready to go once I made to the Shire. Great experince as well. I had a great time and when I brought the bike back it was smooth and hasselfree.
My wife and I settled early on in 2013, that this Christmas was to be on the road in New Zealand. As we both love to ride a motorcycle, it was clear that this trip was to be on two wheels. None of us had been to New Zealand before, thus internet was the source of information.
After doing some research on rentals in New Zealand, we decided to go with Bulangari Harley Tours of New Zealand (BH). We chose this company in the first place because of their extensive tour suggestion offering and that you could pick up and drop of the bikes at multiple locations over New Zealand.
Us being from Norway, on the exact opposite side of the globe and used to drive on the right side (pun intended), we had of course numerous questions. No matter how trivial we got answers, good answers.
When we arrived, the bike and gear was ready as agreed.
The bike had made a good 50000 km’s and you could tell from natural wear and tear. Technical fitness was however excellent. No lose screws, no missing plugs, no rattling windshield and no leaking oil. Tires and breaks in good shape. The bike was in excellent condition for the 3000+ kms we were to add to it.
We borrowed jackets and raingear but brought our own helmets and communication gear. Jackets were fine, while both raingears had rips. Which we did not find until we used it. Still, BH accepted that the damage had been there in the first place.
We experienced BH as having a genuine interest in providing us with the best assets and information possible to make our vacation a success. Which it was.
I have no problem to recommend BH for others. No issues with payments, agreements held and hardware functioned flawlessly. Great service, attitude, with a personal touch.
We did not take advantage of the tour suggestions, as we believe the road is the target. A vague idea of the daily target and do as we like. Still, we did have a lot of recommendations with us, and considered those every now and then. Valuable information.
From the moment we contacted Ali and Baz to see if they could help us fulfill our dream of touring the North Island of New Zealand on a Harley everything was taken care of. The finest details were covered with professionalism, friendliness and hospitality which was outstanding. When we collected the original bike we reserved it proved a bit of a handful, so a quick telephone call later and we were then riding the Heritage Softail which is the same bike we own in Zurich. This model was better suited to us as we are so familiar with it, it made the adventure so much better.
The trip details provided by Ali and Baz were outstanding and we literally had the time of our lives, covering most of the trips they had suggested and recommended. The other tips concerning places to eat and stop at were fabulous, and without the guidance and assistance of this great team we would not have seen as much as we did. New Zealand is paradise and to have a service like this available is such a great initiative.
We wish Ali and Baz continued success and have no problem whatsoever in recommending their business to anyone.
With fondest regards,
Sandra and Robert Downie
Everything was organized unbelievably. Daily destination were incredible. In order of preference order would be. Poets Corner, Dairy, Punakaiki, Becky @ Taupo, Wellington, Fox Glacier and then the Warwick House Nelson. The Warwick House was beautiful and the room was elegant. The rides were absolutely fantastic. You run a world class operation.
I planned the trip to New Zealand with my 19 yr old niece and really wanted to take in some riding as part of the trip. I am an experienced rider, she however has never ridden before so I was a little concerned how she might take it all in. She said she was game so I went ahead with the plan.
It was a piece of cake from the moment I made the decision to go with Bularangi. I emailed the inquiry explaining the situation and very quickly received a cheerful, informative response with detailed information on how the day would play out.
Ali was incredibly flexible with the plan in case the weather did not cooperate. I certainly did not want my niece's first bike tour experience to be in an all day washout because I was locked in to the reservation.
Ali's instant understanding of my desire to build a love of the sport for my niece was wonderfully refreshing.
True to her emails, she called our hotel the night before to do a 'weather check' and see that we were arrived in town, happy, healthy and ready for our tour.
At 8:30am ON THE NOSE, Dave and Glen pulled up at the front door of our hotel. We geared up and set off on one of the most fun days I have had in my life. Their love of riding and professionalism as hosts shined thru in how smooth the day played out. Even though both of them had personal plans later that evening, they took the extra time to come back into town a lovely scenic route that we did not have time for in the morning. Expanding the reason why I love to ride and giving us the opportunity to fall even more in love with the breathtakingly beautiful New Zealand.
At the end of the day my niece could not stop talking about how fantastic the ride was and asked if she could come with my husband and myself when we take our 3 or 4 day bike trips in the States. Complete Success!
Thank You! Ali and Dave and Glen for a wonderful day! and a future of watching the next generation grow into two-wheeled explorers.
It was the best trip ever. Ali and Baz really helpful from my first email asking information on the rental. One thing that I can confirmed to all future client of Bularangi. They have a really great service and fast,...I mean really fast email response,... Millions thanks to you Ali.
Finally not forgetting guys at Rolling Thunder. Stefanie youre the best,...
Ali and Baz helped us plan our independant tour from start to finish. Ali was available on the phone whenever we had a query from here in the UK. Once they knew what we wanted they gave excellent advice on routes and accomodation. We had a specacular 12 day tour covering the top of North Island. 300 k's a day was about right and gave us time to enjoy the scenery and swim etc. Our bike (Ultra classic) was comfortable and reliable, much larger than what we are used to but ideal for the tour. Plenty of storage space. Sat nav was essential and all set up for us. We were even given a $100 dollar voicher to make up for the sat nav arriving 1 day late.. Highlights of our tour were the Bay of Islands (receomend arriving by ferry one way but leaving by road as the route is great on a bike. Also the coromandel if you enjoy bends. All in all a fabulous experience. Already saving for our return to do South Island!
Fran and Stan
Great service by great people - everything was done as promised and the bike and gear were top quality. Definitely would use again!
Great Customer Service from the first enquiry email. If you are considering hiring a Harley Davidson to tour New Zealand - and if you ride a motorcycle you will know it is the only way to see any country at it's best - then you will get first class service from Baz and Ali...Not forgetting Tony of course! Thanks for a great experience guys!
From the second I contacted Bularangi Tours the service from Ali and Baz was exceptional. From advice on type of tour, hire of bikes, route planning, accommodation recommendations nothing was too much to ask. When you book a holiday, especially when you are thousands of miles away and there is a 13 hour time difference, you have lots of questions. Ali's response times and helpful nature even for all the silly questions was outstanding. On collection of the bikes everything was as planned and requested and on route if we continued to have questions they were still answered in the same way. We even took advantage of hiring their accommodation in Waihi, which was like home from home, giving us the opportunity to meet Ali, and the welcome was just as warm. The bikes were in excellent condition and we could not fault the whole experience.NZ also has some of the best roads I have ever ridden. I would definitely ( and will be ) using Bularangi again
We had a great experience Ali was very helpful in planning the best trip for are time frame.
My experience with Bularangi started months before my actual trip, emailing from Canada back and forth with Ali in New Zealand about the rental of a Sportster for a self-guided tour of New Zealand. Ali was very quick to reply to emails, very complete in her answers from the slightest to the most difficult questions, very thorough to make sure I had everything in place I needed to have, very helpful with tourist information that I wouldn't expect would even fall under her scope of duties as a bike rental company, and all of this while being VERY friendly, inviting, and accommodating. When I arrived and picked up my bike, her co-workers were an extension of her courtesy, kindness, and professionalism, further rendering my experience with Bularangi an incredibly positive one. My trip on a Harley across New Zealand was life-changing, in no small part to Ali and Bularangi Harley Tours. I cannot more highly reccommend this group of people to ensure your adventure is a positive one. THANK YOU!
My wife and I hired Harleys for a day, to tour the Coromandel. Ali was a star leading up to the trip and very accommodating, as we had a tight travel schedule. On the day, bikes were ready when we arrived, decent helmets, gloves and jackets were available. The bikes ran faultlessly and we had great weather. The Coromandel loop is some 260km of winding, ascending and descending, good quality road, with spectacular scenery. An added bonus was that the annual Beach Hop was on and and on our way down from Whitianga in the afternoon, we passed a huge number of pristine cars from the 50s and 60s travelling towards us. After returning the bikes, Baz and Ali invited us to share a drink with them on the back patio, a great end to a fantastic and memorable day. Thanks guys, we won't hesitate to recommend you !
Had great week touring on the Heritage Softail, everything from the booking to the return went very smooth, The bike never missed a beat, Baz and Ali made everything easy will definitely recommend Bularangi Harley tours to anybody that will listen.
Sorry for the late review. It was an amazing experience all together. The bike, the route, the hotels, and mostly your company have all been great. We had an unforgettable experience and will hopefully be back soon to tour the Southern island.
We really appreciate your efforts in organizing the whole trip, to the last detail (including the stops we made). We especially enjoyed the ride around Taupo Lake and up the volcano roads. The lodges you chose for us were also excellent. We highly recommend the Poet's Corner in Waihi and the Taupu Lake Lodge.
Thanks for everything.
Rana and Imad
Thanks Baz and Kev,
Andrew and I had such great time, you guy's are the best!!! We felt very safe with you and I must say I would do that again. Our chauffeured tour with you, was the highlight of our holiday and I would certainly advise anyone thinking of doing this, no matter what age( we are 53 and 72}....GO AND DO IT!!! It was fantastic and for as long as I live, I will never forget it. Thank you for the ride!
Celine & Andrew
I had been waiting over 30 years to do this and I was not disappointed!! I felt completely safe and enjoyed every minute and km of our ride around the Coromandel.
Baz was awesome. My daughter and I would recommend this experience to all!
Save up to 70% on campsite fees! Support conservation and experience the natural beauty of NZ. 78 Department of Conservation campsites, one convenient pass.
This was the most awesome experience of my life. For the last 20 years I've said I'd ride a Harley on my 60th, & now being quite disabled my family said "No way!". However, Ali organized this for me with Donks from the Auckland Club & what a wonderful experience it was. I truly could not have been in better hands. Now I can't wait for my 100th to do it all again.
I was very pleased with the response time from Ali when enquiring about the tour. She responded in a timely manner considering the time change we were dealing with.
Baz was my tour guide for the day, and he did a very fine job at that. He is very knowledgable about the area including the history and culture. The Coromandel Peninsula Tour was fabulous. The sights we saw were beautiful!! The route we road was very enjoyable.
This tour was definitely the highlight of my trip to New Zealand. I am looking forward to my next New Zealand adventure!!
Was a stress free experiance Ali had all our maps loaded in the gps with suggested routes that worked perfectly and even booked places to stay at no extra cost and Baz set up the bikes well and they never missed a beat...what a place to ride a Harley pure motorbike nirvana .....should give a 10 but hey no ones perfect exept you and i
This has to be my best motorcycle trip to date. Everyday was excellent and so it is hard to define a particluar highlight. The booking, collection and returning the bike was so easy to do. The roads were excellent for motorbikes and I found every day was a different experience. I definetly want to return to do it all again
We have been lucky enough to have travelled many places over the years and we have to rank our trip to NZ as one of the best. Our experience with Bularangi was a big part of that. We rented a Harley Road King for 17 days and toured both the North and South islands. There can't be a better way to see such a beautiful country and meet so many nice people. But even before we started our trip Baz and Ali had already proven themselves. We were happy to be able to ride a Road King because that is what we ride at home in the US. They took care of everything - the itinerary, the hotel bookings, the ferry tickets, domestic flight tickets, and then delivered our luggage to Christchurch so we could pack our gear before heading home. Unbelievable service. Part way through the trip Ali called to see how we were doing and when she found out we liked to tour gardens, she sent an email so we were sure to see the best. I have to say that the garden she sent us to was one of the best I have ever seen.
Another unexpected pleasure we had was meeting some people from Germany that were also renting Harleys from Bularangi. Our itineraries came together for about three days, so we had dinner and drinks several times with them and made some new friends. What an added bonus.
Absolutely 10 all the way.
Thank you Baz and Ali
Rick and Mona Keehn
I never give a 10. Everything must be just perfect for a 10, right?
Well, 5 days riding as a pillar passenger in the South Island and everything was just perfect! The itinery completely adapted to my needs and wishes, great bike, wonderful driver, a lot of really interesting information. Even the weather was perfect.
And this is the third time I go with Bularangi, and not the last.
Was one of the highlights of our trip to NZ. A most enjoyable experience, visited interesting and scenic places. Riders were friendly, supportive, safe, understanding. We all enjoyed the experience. All required equipment was readily supplied. Was easy to arrange and though not cheap, was fairly priced considering the personal attention and the agreed, reduced price was honoured. The organiser, Ali, was helpful and very fast to respond on email. It was a scenic experience adding fun to new places. Would recommend to others. It was a perfect way to see the countryside whilst cruising NZ.
I have to give Bularangi 10 out of 10 for there service & customer care. Jo & Dennis who look after the Queenstown depot were fantastic & made the whole operation easy & stress free. This was the first time I have ridden a Harley & it was the beast, the Electra Glide Ultra Classic & this was my choice. It looked fantastic but as a riding option on the South Island it was ponderous to say the least, oh for a stretch of straight road. I was faced with mountain faces or edges & this is certainly not the bike for these windey roads as it just doesn't give you the feedback to ride with the confidence you need to have the electrifying experience you normally enjoy on a ride. On the plus side it sounded fantastic echoing off the mountain faces. Next time I would opt for a BMW R1200RT with a loud exhaust pipe.
i owe Ali a HUGE THANK YOU, she helped us get my Fater-in-law on a bike that suited him, was amazing in helping us get him on the bike on a sunny day in a month of rain, and then gave us the perfect route for him to ride. The day's trip on the Harley was the highlight of his holiday and we would recommend Bularangi to any and everyone with no hesitation at all. Overall a fantastic experience, brilliant service and an all round MUST DO again.
Awesome experience. Tony and Kerry gave us a couple of hours of Auckland cruising the streets and views. Neither of us have been on bikes in years but we felt safe and enjoyed it immensely. Both guys were awesome to deal with, real nice people to meet. I'd recommend it to anyone. Thanks Ali as well for keeping us informed and in touch prior as the weather was dubious leading up to the day but it all came together for us.
Many thanks to Ali and Baz for providing excellent customer service, you certainly know your stuff. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience on the Heritage Softail and my husband was thrilled at the surprise. As opposed to other rental companies your Waihi location is centrally located and providing perfect access to the Coromandel.
What a beautiful country. This was my partner Georgias first time on the back of a motorbike!she loved it and is keen on me getting another bike.Prob a buell again ,unreal bike. From the first contact via the net to the time i dropped the bike back.i found Ali and the team flexible co operative and passionate about there business and passionate about helping us have a great experience. Thanks to Kerry as well for helping me out and giving me a lift back to Auckland.thanks Guys see you next time
First time ever on a motorbike, let alone a Harley and boy what an unforgettable experience! TOTALLY AWESOME and Kerry and David were just wonderful guys and every minute we felt so safe. The service i got from Ali in the planning was just sensational and what a great surprise to my husband for our wedding anniversary. Finished our 1 hour ride with a fabulous lunch at Riverside Tavern.
Hired a Heritage Softail for a day picked up at Rolling Thunder in Christchurch, staff were very friendly and helpful bike was in excellent condition and everything was ready to go when I got there. Had an awesome ride to Kaikoura and back with a Kaiapoi local on his fatboy lunch at the pub and sunny all day couldn't have aked for a better day. Can thoroughly recommend Bularangi and their agents for excellence in customer service makes the experience all the better, thanks to Ali and all the staff at Rolling Thunder in Christchurch
Absolutely Fantastic!! We had never done this before and Bas and Jason gave us the utmost confidence. Their ability to handle the bikes and to make us feel comfortable was superb. If you haven't already done this - do it now!!
Middle-aged English lady who should know better - but I had just the best time on the back of Tony's bike on a trip to Piha. Ali couldn't have been friendlier when I booked it and was very accommodating with my wish also go over the Harbour Bridge and cruise into the centre of town. Tony did all that - and was just terrific. He was very patient and friendly from start (letting my friend's little girls sit on the bike for photos) to finish (bearing with me for my totally inelegant dismount from his bike!). It was brilliant - I can't recommend it highly enough.
I'm a keen sports bike rider but wanted to try a big Harley to bring in Santa for our party and of course for a bit of a cruise myself. The service from Ali at Bularangi couldn't be faulted and they were accommodating far beyond expectations. As for the ride: despite the weather it was like lounging back in a big comfortable chair and taking in the scenery in comfort - all with the throaty roar of that massively torquie 1540cc engine that just wanted to pull all day. Oh that noise - it certainly turns heads.
Thank you so much guys for looking after me. I can't recommend Bularangi highly enough :-)
I have owned 5 bikes in my life, starting with a Vespa and ending up with Honda 500 4 but had not ridden a bike for 20 years. I hired a Harley Heritage Softale from Queenstown and after driving through to Cromwell to pick up my wife, we rode to Wanaka for a birthday brunch and then past Lakes Hawea and Wanaka and onto the Gates Of Haast where we stopped for a picninc and photo stop. We returned the same way but instead of riding back through the Kawerau Gorge we went over the Crown range to Queenstown. I cannot speka more highly of the servise we got over the phone and by email from Baz and Ali and when we went to pick up the bike in Queenstown Jo and Dennis were equally friendly helpful and professional. I urge you to do this once in your life and the circuit we did was just fantastic with a mixture of gorges, hills and straights but all thetime the views were impressive.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 2-hour ride on magnificent Harley Davidson motorbikes. Our hosts were very friendly, courteous and helpful. They drove safely and took us on a tour of notable Auckland sites including the Harbour Bridge, Tamaki Drive and One Tree Hill.
We highly recommend the Harley experience.
10 out of 10 guys, i'm still smiling a week later. Eventhough i have lived in New Zealand for nearly 3 years my rider Tony took me to places i had never been before. His knowledge and riding skills were excellent. He was also a great person to speak with. The Harley was amazing, big, loud and clean. Anybody that has an interest in bikes or just wants to see New Zealand from a different perspective you should really give the guys a Bularangi Harley Tours a call. Thanks guys, you made my year. Ben
Fabulous four hour tour of Coromandel on a great Harley "Ultra" - still grinning two weeks later! Baz was a great guide. An experience well worth the money and not to be forgotten. Thanks!
First class experience, from my initial contact with Ali to the moment I got (reluctantly) off the bike after a day trip to the Coromandel with Baz. Thank you Baz and Ali for a very happy and memorable day. I can't wait to do another trip! All the best, Karen
Fantastic 6 day cruise over the South Island on a very well set up Road King. Although November, after a good late snowfall the day before setting off, all the mountains remained snow capped down the East Coast, through to Queenstown, and the a return run up the West Coast and back to Christchurch through Arthur Pass. Not a hiccup from the bike, great handling and the most fansastic range of scenery. Thanks Baz & Ali.
I have hired bikes all over the world & found Bularangi to be without peer. The service was unparalled, & in the end we let Ali do all our planning & bookings for us. Baz was very accommodating in dropping the bikes off & collecting them. The bikes & rental gear were all in pristine condition & worked perfectly. NZ is certainly a beautiful country, & despite the weather, a motorcycle tour is definately the way to see it in all it's finery. For the best service & support, I would unreservedly recommend Bularangi !!!!
It was an amazing, incredible trip. The bike was just fantastic, our tour prepared with care by Ali and Baz, they were in contact with us all the time to make sure it was all ok and to suggest great places to visit in every place we stayed... I can't wait to do it again!!
Excellent service and great bike. Hired the Harley in Auckland and had a great trip north on my own visiting Bay of Islands and up to the Cape. The team at Bularangi were very easy to deal with, kept me informed, and were very flexible in their arrangements which made my trip all the more easy. Will definately be back...Andrew, Sydney
Access savings worth hundreds of $$ on Top Ranked NZ Accommodation and Activities for just $1 per day.
Over for the rugby. Bularangi v helpful on assisting with other activities too. As for the day on the bikes it was spectacular . The bikes were in mint condition mechanically and were presented well. The clothing and equipment supplied were very good quality too . Terrific day out -Living the dream of riding a hog through roads perfect for biking . Service was great ..might be useful to have some way of waiving the $3000 bond to a lesser amount but otherwise ..its all good !
My friends chipped together to shout me a a 2 hour ride to Piha. Will never forget the day - cruising along on the back of a fantastic Harley Davidson on the road to Piha, listening to 'Brown Eyed Girl', surrounded by ferns and our gorgeous nz scenery, with the sun shining... cherished memories.
The guys are fantastic - passionate about bikes, sincere, friendly, extremely safe drivers, and just the perfect riders to employ. Loved the bikes, the music was a great touch, and ride was so smooth and comfortable. I'm an ex 150cc scooter driver who has aspirations of buying a 'proper' bike soon (500cc unfortunately, not a 1800cc beast!) and being out on the road again on 2 wheels has inspired me to my motorbike licence :-)
Thanks again to Bularangi - a very slick operation - those bikes are just incredible.
What an awesome road trip i had, made all the better by Ali, Tony and undoubtedly everyone involved with bularangi rentals. The bike was a dream to ride and the service was second to none!! These people know how to look after you. Have dealt with the more well known companies in the past,..no more!!
I rented a harley with my husband and it was a wonderful experience! We really had a great time and everithing was just perfect. Thank you Ali and Tony for those magical moments!!
My wife and I went down to New Zealand for our honeymoon and Ali, Baz, and Tony made sure we had a wonderful time on our first day. They went to great lengths to accomodate our schedule and make sure we would have an unforgettable experience. Baz was quick to assess my level of ability during the ride, which made it much more enjoyable to pick up the pace a little yet still drive cautiously on unfamiliar roads. The Heritage Softail was a wonderful motorcycle, and my wife and I loved the views while "out there" driving on a motorcycle. I can't thank them enough.
My wife & I did a 3 day guided trip around Queenstown including Milford Sound with another couple & led by Baz. Our Ultra Glide Classic was immaculate & performed perfectly. Baz set the pace and trip within our capabilities and we never felt pressurised: frequent stops at points of interest & for photographs. The whole experience was very friendly. The accommodation was good with wide selection of places to eat. We would recommend the experience - even with the 2 hour trip from Te Anau to Milford Sound in the rain! NZ is certainly a brilliant place to do tours like this compared with the UK - empty roads & spectacular scenery.
Having reached the age of 60 & never been on a motorbike before, I thought it time to put that right & travel in style. I had a terrific afternoon as a pillion passenger with Dave in Auckland & it was the perfect end to my tour of New Zealand.
We hired a Heritage Softail for a day out of Queenstown and had a brilliant experience. Ali was very helpful and professional from our initial correspondence right up to the follow up when we got home. She helped plan the best route to ride, organised another bike when my first choice of a Buell wasn't available, and was great in general, as was Jo who was there where we picked the bike up.
We had an amazing day riding through some stunning countryside, the bike was in almost new condition and very comfortable, and the route out to Haast was the perfect distance to cover in a day.
Many thanks to the guys at Bularangi for helping us with one of the best days of our trip.
My mate Tony and I rented a Superglide and Roadking in Queenstown through Bularangi. The bikes were in great nick and everything happened as promised by Ali. We were picked up from our apartment in Queenstown taken out to Cromwell to pick up the bikes and then spent a couple of amazing days enjoying the best bike ride of my life! Highlights were the Kawarau Gorge and Crown Range Rd from Wanaka back to Queenstown. Some truly awe inspiring rides and views around Lakes Wakatipu and Wanaka. A truly memorable ride in amazing Alpine conditions. Great roads and we will be back, maybe a couple of months earlier in the year because it sure was cold at times! Thanks Baz and Ali for making it all so easy.
I recently was shouted a Harley tour of Auckland by my lovely wife Jude. She managed to keep it a secret until I came out of the hotel and there was Tony with a fabulous looking Harley Davidson. She got me good! We went all over the place and Tony was such a nice guy. He was informative and had a great sense of humour. I thoroughly recommend the whole experience. What a great ride! How am I gonna top that for her birthday?!
All the best and continued success. Ross
A truly memorable experience on a 14 day guided tour of the South- and North - Island. The organization was flawless. My bike a 2011 Harley Roadking as good as new when I picked it up in Queenstown. The daily tours where well selected and I had an easy time adapting to the bike and the NZ roads. Baz provided many, many insights into the various locations and was always happy to adapt the tour as see fit.
We have finally driven almost 4.500 kms together on that trip and I can highly recommend Bularangi to anyone considering either a rental or guided tour. Another big thank you to Ali & Baz for a perfect road trip. Hope to be back at some point in time.
I was given a 2 hour Harley trip of our local area for a birthday pressie and it was great. Awesome ride but not long enough (could have gone all day)! Also has reignited my love of riding...hubbie might regret giving me the riding bug again!
I want to take this opportunity to thank Ali & Baz for making my trip to New Zealand not only memorable but exhilarating and exciting.
From my initial enquiry nothing was too much trouble, Ali took care of everything and Her help made organising my trip trouble free. Baz made me feel very welcome from the beginning and I couldn’t have asked for a better guide and companion to see the spectacular sights of New Zealand only truly appreciated from ridding a Motorcycle. Although I’d ridden many bikes, I’d never ridden a Harley yet I found it easy to ride and the perfect bike for such an experience.
If anybody wants to contact me and ask me any questions about my experiences with Bularangi Motorbikes, please feel free to e-mail me on email@example.com and I’ll be only to happy to pass on my experiences of the trip.
What a fantastic holiday! Ali and Baz were the perfect hosts on an amazing tour of the South Island. What better way to view the beautiful scenery NZ has to offer than on the back of a motorbike. And what a bike - loved the Buell!
Couldn't ask for a better team than Ali and Baz to show us around the South Island...they handled things with professionalism and were great fun! Also, we were so grateful that they personally made sure we got back to Auckland in time to catch our flight back to the US...despite the terrible earthquake in Christchurch!
We rented their Buell for a few days and had a blast. Ali was very helpful from beginning to end and everything was very professional. I highly recommend Bularangi to any motorcycle enthusiast.
Thanks for everything!!!
Adrienne and Eric
Wow, well what can I say Bernie and I arrived in your lovely city of Auckland to start our holiday and booked a 3 hour Harley tour with Ali through email before we even left Canberra, we were met by Divot and Dave who were fascinating and informative guys, we had the best time touring the countryside and city and didn't want the time to end, we have told everyone we know what a great time we had and that they should follow in our footsteps, we are definately going back to NZ to do another ride.
Thanks Ali, Baz, Divot & Dave for a wonderful and fulling experience of a lifetime, you guys totally rock.
Maria Alexander & Bernadette Hay.
A great big thank you to Bularangi Harley Tours, we had an outstanding experience exploring the North Island on their 2010 Harley Ultra Classic. Baz and Ali were both a pleasure to deal with from our first e-mail enquiry through to the end of our trip; our GPS route planning was explained to us at length and we appreciated the amount of time that they both spent answering all of our questions. It was by far the favourite part of our holiday and it has to be the best way to experience New Zealand. Highly recommended!
Thanks again Baz and Ali!
Marcus and Tracey
Saturday was a perfect day for a ride and it was so cool to tour Auckland on such an awesome bike. My friend and I really enjoyed the ride with Kerry and Divot, they were very considerate and experienced riders and I had a great time. Thanks guys x
My partner and I hired a Heritage Softail for the day and loved every minute of it, even when it rained. The bikes were in great working order, they supplied all the gear (including wet weather gear) and they even organised getting us to and from where we picked the bike up from.
Thanks for a great and memorable experience, they simply couldn't do enough for us. The scenery on our ride was breathtaking.
I would highly recommend the experience and again thank the staff for making it an absolutely fabulous experience.
My 70 year old Mum wants to buy a Harley! On Boxing Day 2010, the rumble of the bike arrived and Baz introduced himself. Once kitted up and rules explained, Mum was off; leaving Papamoa, travelling over the Kaimai's and up to Te Aroha. She said that to be a pillion passenger on the bike was an absolutely amazing experience and highly recommends it to everyone.
Thanks Baz & Ali for taking care of Mum, she had a blast.
I did the 1 hour ride with Jason and it was fantastic. Jason was lovely and very careful and safe. I have always wanted to ride on a Harley and this fulfilled my dream. The scenery was magnificent and the time went so quickly. We went through the Karangahake Gorge and then down by Wahai beach and both places were beautiful. I would definitely recommend Bularangi Harley Tours, whether just for the hour ride that I experienced or for a longer ride/tour. Very friendly and accommodating people who do everything they can to make it a memorable experience. Thanks guys, the highlight of my 2 weeks in your lovely country.
Great experience overall. Ali was a pleasure to deal with and everything was exactly as promised. The bike was a new Ultra that rode great. New Zealand was a fantastic place to ride and Ali and Bularangi Tours were an excellent outfit to rent from.
What an absolute magical day and an experience we will never forget.
The only disapointing thing with this tour is that we didn't book it for longer.
All credit to Ali and her team for their professional approach from when we first enquired through to the end of the ride and Kerry and Donkey our giudes for the tour were brilliant.
Thanks guys for an awesome experience and trust that we will be catching up again in the near future.
I've always been a Harley enthusiast and yet never been on one (namely because I have as yet been unable to start learning), and I was surprised with this trip by my family.
It was easily one of the best days of the holiday, quite possibly up there in the top ten days of my life to date. New Zealand is a beautiful country, but it's never looked better to me than it did from the back of a bike, with the wind blowing in my face.
Baz, Donkey and Divot gave my family and I a day that we'll never forget and for that I am truly grateful. I arrived back in the UK yesterday and in two days time I am going to see a man about starting my bike license.
I can't wait to get back over and tour with them on my own bike.
the experience was really brilliant. the genleman Andy (blok) was a good safe rider and I did not feel at all nervous as this was my first time on a motor bike. My age is 70 and he took excellent care that I was safe and happy..
Thank You - to the thousands of travellers that have contributed to our Top Voted NZ Activities Map - it's free from Rankers.
Have been telling my friends about this. I had an awesome time, simply the best way to spend an afternoon, seeing some of the worlds best scenery on the best mode of transport possible. Thank you Baz and Ali. You Guys Rock!
An incredible day for my family and I was spent touring the Coromandel Loop with Baz, Donkey & Divot.
I am a rather large lady with a disability which required me to be passenger on a trike. Baz treated me with respect and kindness and made me feel alive again. I felt like a 'normal' person for a day and that alone was priceless. If you get the chance to tour with these guys, you really should.
I just loved my Harley ride. It was an experience of a lifetime and I would highly recommend it.
An awesome experience and what a wonderful birthday surprise! a Harley tour has been on my wish list for a number of years and it exceeded all my expectations. The half-day tour as pillion passenger behind Baz on the Harley was exhilarating - I'm still grinning! The mid-winter weather was perfect and the southern Coromandel scenery was just stunning, the fresh air so clean and green. As a local I can recommend it as a fabulous way to see the country - excellent gear, very comfortable ride and a top guide happy to share his local knowledge and experience. A great experience all the way from Ali's enthusiastic response to my husband's initial enquiry right through to receiving the fantastic photos taken by Baz of my big day out!
We travelled to New Zealand in March 2010 for our first motorcycle int'l trip and rented our Harley's from Bularangi Harley Tours of New Zealand. I worked directly with Ali via e-mail for the trip. She was very responsive and accomodating. There were a few things I had to follow up with her on that had been communicated and then forgotten, but she was always true to her word. Baas who delivered the motorcycles to us in Christchurch was very nice and passionate about his bikes. He sat down with us to do our paperwork and gave us suggestions on places to eat along our unguided tour and also helped us to make some last minute changes in our routing we requested. Overall I thought they were a trustworthy place to work with, offered a quality motorcycle rental, go the extra mile to accomodate your request in a fair manner, but are a bit unorganized logistically. Finally, we would definitely go back and rent from them again. I made the arrangments for my own hotels, airfare, etc. Their insurance they offered was great also.
Absolutely the best experience. We chose to join a guided tour for two reasons, to keep us on the 'right' side of the road and to meet like minded people.
Fourteen days of riding the best roads on the North & South Island, on the best bike a Harley Davidson, eating the best food, staying at the best places, meeting the best people, having the best guides Baz and Tony, and did I mention the best weather. I won't mention all the bottles of great NZ wine and gallons of beer consumed by the group who became fast friends after the first evening at the bar.
Ali answered all my a questions for a year prior to the trip and was there to meet us at the airport.
What a beautiful country and what better way to see it than on a Harley. You have to experience this and you have to do it with Bularangi Harley Tours of New Zealand.
I hope we can make it back again, but if not I plan to spread the word to every biker I know.
My wife and I spent the thick end of 3 weeks riding around both South and North Islands. Ali's arrangements were absolutely perfect both prior to and during the tour. The bike provided was exactly what I requested and performed faultlessly.
If you are thinking of touring NZ on a bike then look no further Bularangi is the company for you. Great people, great service, great bike 'nuff said.
Great ride just let down by GPS problems! Would've also liked to have stayed at the Waihi Beach B&B and done a couple of day rides from the one location.......
20/20 hindsight! Otherwise, couldn't have been looked after better. Client service before, during and after ride as good as it gets. Thanks Ali & Baz for 'mothering' us as necessary :-)
11 days in what is one of the most scenic countries I have ever visited and riding Harley Ultra Classics to boot.
new Zealand was always on my list of "must ride" places but for many reasosn always got put aside for more 'exotic' destinations far away. After all NZ is only three hours from Sydney so i could do it anytime right?
Why did I wait so long. My friend and I covered nearly 4000 klms in 11 days mostly on the South Island. The whole renting experience from the first contact with Ali has been seamless and first class. We arrived in Christchurch at the dealers to collect our bikes and were made feel welcome straight away.
The bikes themselves were presented in an immaculate condition and preperation. I would rnak the whole experience with Harley Tours NZ as First Class.
A small critiscism was the small choice in gear I would have liked a choice of helmets, raingear, jackets etc to choose from. That said when it was obvious the rain pants didn't fit me, Baz immediately solved the problem by giving me his own ones. Fantastic.
Thanks heaps guys we had a great time and experience.
I was fortunate enough to have a few days leave to travel down to the South Island and catch up with family and friends so needed some wheels to get around. Thought about hiring a small car - boring!!! Then thought motorbike, then thought HARLEY DAVIDSON. Web search brought me to "www.harleytoursnewzealand.co.nz.
This was so easy to organise, one phone call and a few emails and all set up for me to pick the bike up in Queenstown late on a Sunday afternoon. Jo runs the Queenstown operation and I can say if the world was full of people with her passion and commitment to others then we would all be "living the Dream". Within half an hour of arriving in Queenstown I was cruising in the Southern mountains on a 2009 Harley Davidson Dyna Superglide. A crowbar and a pound of force feed overboiled Spinach wouldn't of wiped the smile off my face.
When you go an adventure like this you build expectations leading up to the big day. These guys exceeded my expectations. You guys have a great business and understand your customers very well. Thanks for the experience.
We've just got home to the UK after the best motorcycle tour ever - and that's counting 12 years of tours across Europe and North America.
NZ Harley Tours can't take the credit for the fabulous roads, weather and scenery in the South Island but they can take the credit for the faultless hotel bookings and the detailed arrangements. We chose to modify their standard tours and did a 14 day self-guided big double loop around the South Island taking in every major sight and mountain pass except Invercargill and the far south. Nothing was too much trouble for Ali and Baz despite our fussy hotel preferences and changing attendance list from eleven to the eventual seven people on four bikes. We also rented clothing and helmets at no cost and a biking GPS at a very reasonable rate.
We do have a few comments; three of the four bikes were faultless but my Ultra was delivered with a serious front brake disk warp that Baz was aware of. After some pressure, a replacement bike was provided that also had a slight front brake disk warp that I deemed acceptable. However this is a known issue with late model Harleys and Baz needs to be on top of this problem with his local dealership in Christchurch. The waterproofs were one-piece 'babygrows' that are less than ideal (but are apparently being replaced this year). Finally a couple of the recommended hotels were too far out of town for convenience.
Once resolved, the brake issue did not affect our enjoyment of the trip of a lifetime - the roads of Europe (and especially the UK) are no longer safe for biking. Every biker MUST ride NZ roads at least once in their life and I would highly recommend Bularangi Harley Tours of NZ to make that happen. If you get perfect weather like us, you are truly blessed.
A big thank you to Harley Tours and your crew. We had a memorable day's outing as pillion passengers travelling out west to Piha then winding back through scenic country with a final blast back along the motorway. The day's outing exceeded my expectations and brought back many happy memories of carefree and exhilerating motorbike excursions. We'll just have to do it again soon!
I did 2 pillion rides: Coromandel Loop with Kev and Gates of Haast with Pete. Those were my first rides on a motobike ever and I felt safe and loved it from the beginning. Everything was just great: perfect organization by Ali, awsome scenery, cool bikes and best guides. New Zealand's just perfect to explore on a Harley Davidson and if you think of taking a ride do it with these guys. You never feel as a client, but as a mate enjoying the same amazing thing. Looking forward to the next ride (hopefully soon).
Firstly let me start by saying that I have not ridden a bike in over 25 years, so I was a little nervous about taking a bike out for a full day and not just a little trip around the block. My fears were unfounded and put to bed the moment I met Pete (my guide and companion for the trip). I called to the house the night before the ride to choose a bike and met Jo and Pete who immediately put me at my ease. I found them both to be extremely friendly and helpful. We started the trip by leaving Queenstown around 8am the next morning and headed out into the country. It really was like" riding a bike" (pun intended) the memories and instincts came flooding back and as Pete said later I had a smile on my face all day and many days later. I honestly haven't enjoyed myself like this for years. The scenery was breathtaking and to this end I thank Pete for choosing a route that was not only a bikers dream for long sweeping bends and turns but for views that I will remember for ever. When I return to New Zealand I will take a long ride covering both Islands. Pete and his lovely wife Shirley met myself and my wife and son that night for a well deserved drink. In all my experience with Harley Tours was a very personal one, I never for a moment felt like a client but instead I was welcomed like a friend with a common bond. Thank you all at Harley Tours I look forward to our next meeting.
I have toured in both Europe and in every state In the U.S. and have dealt with many touring companies, but I have to rank Ali and Baz ( Bularangi Harley Tours) as one of the best. Ali set up the itinerary for my solo 12 day north & south island tour on the GPS ( never made a wrong turn) as well as referenced the best hotels and B&B's. Baz even came to my motel early in the a.m. to make a shield change. Now that is what I call "customer service"! The Ultra I rented was perfect for the trip and was spottless upon delivery. I was embarrassed to bring it back so dirty but 12 fabulous days of riding will leave some dirt. The suggested routes ( 4500 K ) enabled me to visit most of the best of N.Z. and the scenery was fabulous! Put this trip on your "bucket list" ! You will not find a better company or a better riding experience! Thanks to both Ali and Baz for a most memorable time! Tom Brun
Jan 2011 - I've been very lucky to be able to come to New Zealand again this year and to make good the promise to myself to have a longer ride on one of your super bikes. This year I had a two-hour circular ride around the southern end of the Coromandel. Once again it was first class. I felt extremely safe, and just love passing through this lovely countryside. It rained for part of the way (this was my first experience of being on a bike in the rain) and it did nothing to detract from my enjoyment. Living with a man for nearly 50 years who is 'anti-bike', you can imagine I don't get many chances to indulge myself, so having the company of Baz last year, and Jason this year, plus these wonderful bikes, just makes me grin for a whole week!! Hope to meet up with you again. Thanks for another great experience.
Feb 2010 - This super ride was a Christmas present from my cousins in Tairua during my visit from the UK. What a wonderful gift it turned out to be. I might have been one of your oldest passengers, but this old biddie couldn't have enjoyed it any more. Baz was very good company, very knowledgeable, and looked very much the part (no pigtails!!). I was able to appreciate some beautiful countryside that I hadn't seen before while really enjoying being on that wonderful bike. I hope to be able to do it again on my next trip - but for longer next time!
Many thanks, and best wishes. Margaret.
What an awesome way to tour the Coromandel.
Super people to deal with - Ali and Baz have been most helpful and a delight to
deal with. Will certainly return for another tour
The 14 day tour of both the North and South Island was truly a trip of a lifetime, from the moment we were met at the Christchurch airport to the fairly emotional goodbyes in Auckland. The best of bikes, scenery, food, beer and accomodation but most importantly the best of people...whit mair could a body want ?
I found myself in a tight spot trying to organise something different to bring my dad and his wife to his surprise 60th birthday party, there just wasn't anything in Christchurch until Bularangi came to the rescue.
The 2 lads who rode up were the bomb. The bikes, the gear, the look, everything was Harley Authentic and I'd recommend you to anyone who's looking for that experience with a difference.
My dad is still to this day talking about his Harley ride and the sheer exhilaration of going through the Lyttleton tunnel and the roar of the Harley, next time he want's to take one out for himself.
You definitely made the surprise party that much more of an experience. Thanks again guys, you totally rock!!!
I booked one of these amazing Harley's as a suprise for my fiance to pick him up and take him to our wedding. I really cannot recommend these guys enough. Ali and Baz organised everything for me and provided a beautiful Harley for my partner to arrive on along with a fantastic driver who took him on a ride around Queenstown before taking him to the wedding Chapel just before my arrival.
A wonderful experience and wonderful people- a must do for all bike lovers!!!
My partner was absolutely blown away by the experience and it was a wonderful tribute to his father who sadly passed away two years ago but had always wanted to own a Harley Fatboy.
We now have some truely wonderful memories and photos of us with the bike to remember our perfect day!!
As experienced Harley-Davidson touring riders, we feel that Bularangi Harley Tours of New Zealand, by far, has been the best company we have ever dealt with in our 20 years of touring by bike. From the first e-mail inquiry (that was answered within minutes) to the final turning in of the bikes, every detail was handled professionally and with personal interest for our comfort and safety.
We asked for a 3 week route for touring NZ and hotel accommodations. They inquired as to our personal interests and preferences for what we liked to do and see, how long we wanted to ride each day, whether we wanted lay-over days, hotel requirements, etc. Within a day, they had sent an entirely customized itinerary showing the route, items of interest all along the way, hotel accommodations with internet links to each hotel for our ease of reviewing them, and much more.
The ride itself was fantastic, and knowing that every detail was taken care of for us, from hotel rooms, a preprogrammed GPS showing us the route, reservations already made for some of the activities that they had recommended along the way, and a 24 hour number to call for any reason, we truly felt that we could not have chosen a better company!
New Zealand was amazing! With each new day, we were always stunned by its changing beauty, wonderful riding roads, and incredibly friendly people. So much to do and see, we should have stayed longer.
If you are interested in motorcycle riding of any kind (self-guided, guided, day rides, etc.,) this is the company to call. When one finishes a 3 week trip, and can truly say that they have no suggestions to the company for improvement, you have found the ultimate company, don’t look any further! We found this company on the internet, had no knowledge of them at all, but we feel we found the “Best of the Best”!
From being collected at our cruise ship by a smiling Ali who seemed like a long lost relative to gearing up in Waihi, and all the floorboard scraping twisties along the beautiful scenic Coromandel Loop, just a wonderful experience, as my wife described it was a rollercoaster ride through paradise. We stopped for a wonderful lunch of New Zealand greenlip mussels at Pepper Tree in Coromandel. Kev, our guide was easygoing, professional, lots of laughs, and a great photographer, patiently taking lots of pics of us at picturesque stops along the way. We had a grand time with Kev and his wife Annette and the wonderful Ali. We didnt want it to end so Ali stopped on the way back to our cruise ship at Brownies for a toast with local beer and wine, the perfect end to an absolutely amazing day. Thanks so much for a fantastic experience! Bill and Connie Maier
Absolutely Bloddy Brilliant!! What a tour, 14 days of North and South Island Bularangi, great bike, roads (apart from the gravel) fab views and superb people and what an excellent guide in Baz, good on ya mate! Can't wait to go back. See you next year Baz for the Rugby World Cup when Wales will beat the All Blacks in the Final????????/ Sorry Ali but It only goes up to 10..............................it should be MORE!!!
It was absolutely the most amazing experience for both of us. We rode an ultra classic for two days and had the best time ever, the bike was the perfect choice for us. Completely smoothe and very comfortable for my girlfriend and me.
And of course thanks to Ali who made this all going so well for us. Sinead & Sammy.
Today was great ! It was a birthday prezzy and i loved it all ! Baz and I went from Waihi to whangamata for a icecream out to waihi beach to bowentown and home again. Baz was a great tour guide and told me about a cople of things about the land and history on the way.
Thanks baz hope to do it again some time :D
I have always wanted to be the pillion passenger on a Harley so whilst on holiday in New Zealand that is exactly what I got to do. My driver was Dennis Deavoll, he was just fantastic, he was so enthuastic, knowledgeable and a brilliant driver, he made me feel completely at ease as I had never been a passenger before. The whole experience was just awesome and I would recommend everyone to experience this at least once in a lifetime. I booked everything on the Internet before leaving and Ali was just so helpful. When Dennis arrived he had brought 2 jackets, 2 helmets and 2 sets of gloves just to ensure my outfit would be the perfect size. I really cannot begin to thank Dennis enough for making this the experience of a lifetime and one I shall never forget. I have not stopped talking about it since I got back home to the UK, so once again thank you Dennis for the most awesome experience. Mary
we had the best time in christchurch with Kevin and the rest of the guys, it was a work do for 7 woman hairdress's aged from 18-35 and each one of the girls loved it and felt completly safe.i would recommend this for all ages.
thanks again to ali for helping me to organise our amazing day
We had limited time so hired the trike for the day, out of Queenstown. It was all organised online and everything went perfectly to plan - Ali's emails kept us informed of all we needed to know. Jo was brilliant - friendly, really helpful and almost as excited as we were. It's a perfect area to tour around by trike - and yes, the posing is part of it, let's be honest :)) We were also very lucky with the weather. We can't wait for the next time!!
Baz & Ali run a brilliant tour of NZ, having just completed their 22 day legacy tour I reckon I saw most of the significant places in the country. I give them my highest recommendation, you will have a ball. However, dont sign up for it unless you get out the cement, as Baz will tell you, and harden up up a bit, cos you will need it....its tuff but worthwhile for the experience if you think you can handle it.
Big Rog Thames Valley Vultures (VSOC) UK
We have just returned to the UK after a 23 day tour of both Islands. What a wonderful experience it was! Our guides were superb. Besides being enthusiastic motorcyclists and excellent riders, their extensive knowledge of flora, fauna, natural and cultural history made them more than just your average tour guides. Safety and our wellbeing was always their top priority and nothing was ever too much trouble. The bikes were in mint condition, the accomodation excellent, the routes and stopping points meticulously planned. We would have no hesitation recommending Harley Tours NZ.
A perfect 50th present given to me by my daughters.
Such a great way to spend a sunny day coasting around auckland on the back of a Harley. Absolutley recommend it!
Well, we ordered the 2 hour tour round Auckland - a present for my husband for our 40th wedding anniversary. What a fabulous experience and such a great bunch of people. We would reccommend this to anyone who remembers what it was like to ride a motorbike in the middle of last century.
We are two french moto racers and we have spent a very nice day on the road with the harleys. We have rent 2 harleys during one day ( good price).we like this experience and they are very friendly i like it..
thank you so much its a pleasure to drive a Harley in Coromandel
Wife hired a Harley for my birthday.
What an awesome ride we had to Auckland.
Got plenty of looks from people and other Bike riders.
See what next year brings.
It was 7 days trip for 4 people with 3 bikes around South Island. It was an undertaking very much professionally organised. Baz is a very frank, elastic person and well organized. He led us safely with left side of the road. To sum up we state that it was very much extreme and unforgettable experience. We recommend this kind of trip everyone.
Ryszard, Stanisław, Tomasz, Stanisław
What a great ride.Baz took me for a ride around the lake at Rotorua and it fulfilled a dream I'd had for years. What a fantastic birthday present from my kids! Can't wait to do it again and go for longer.
I can't believe how much we enjoyed this tour and would thoroughly recommend this as the best way to see Auckland. From being quite apprehensive, I can honestly say that I have never felt safer and so was able to relax and enjoy the sights and smells of the beautiful countryside. Definitely the highlight of our visit to New Zealand.
The tour was excellent. The host, Kerry, was careful, provided all the gear and gave me a thrilling but safe axperience. He was also a fun guy to be with and talk to.
We just loved our tour experience - it was the most brilliant way to see Queenstown, smell the forests (and the beautiful clean air!) not to mention enjoy our very knowledgeable and exceptionally pleasant tour men. Thank you, it was sensational, safe and the best day of our time in New Zealand. See you soon!!
Spent 8 days up and down the country as a pillow passanger, with Tony up north and Graham down south. What an amazing experience!!!! Saw the true New Zealand, everything was incredibly well planned and when the weather got the worst of us, got saved by Tony's fantastic wife or had lunch with Graham mother in law :-) Feeling like a real "biker" for a while is quite an adventure, and the incredible sights and sounds, the culture -- what a privilege having locals show you the "true" spots....Will be back. Anna
I did the Bay of Plenty tour and the Coromandel tour (as one was not enough!!). Everything was so perfect, weather, scenery, bike and Colin of course. Thoroughly enjoy the all experience. Thank you very much guys!
Had the Ultra Classic for a day and took it down to Taupo via Rottenrua then back to Waihi. Ran like a dream, and Kay loved it.
I'm used to sport bikes but thoroughly enjoyed riding it. Handles well on dirt roads too.
We took the Ultra Classic out for a half day ride through beautiful countryside. February weather was fantastic, Harley didn't skip a beat, plenty of corners to satisfy the dream of riding in NZ.
Ben & Janet (Australia)
From 2 ladies from Canada; Laurie and Liz:
From Liz: The few people I sent the pictures to think the guys are quite good looking. I was so impressed that these gentlemen were willing to take us to the Harley shop and out to the country and buy us lunch. They were true bikers.
I know it was one of the highlights of my trip.
Peter and Darren really made our holiday! Was a great time and the best of our holiday. Wished we could have toured more as seeing the sights on the back of the bike was the BEST.
Pillion tour for 4hrs and desbite being a complete biking virgin (almost), Graham was fantastic and despite strong crosswinds almost constantly i felt very comfortable on the bike. Am inspired to perhaps get my licence now. Of all the activities i did in Queenstown i rank this the best and would recommend to anyone. Excellent!
Jay & N
The guys were great.
An opportunity to safely introduce my partner to the joys of riding. Now I can buy my bike! A wonderful afternoon spent with Dennis and Graham from Queenstown spent riding pillion from Queenstown to Glenorchy. Not much to do in Glenorchy, but that wasn't the point, Sue needed to experience the joy of riding a Harley and from the first moment we stopped after riding for about 15 minutes she was hooked. I have often told her of my experiences and now she had safely experienced it too. She's hooked and I couldn't be happier. Dennis, looked after her and made her feel very comfortable and by the end of the afternoon was riding pillion like she was born to the saddle. Thank you guys!!
Fantastic. My Brother-in-Law (a Harley owner from the UK), myself (Japanese sports bike rider, living in Auckland) and a mate hired bikes on Boxing Day and went for a run round the Coromandel loop, which was recommended by Baz. The bikes were top notch, the hire process was easy, Baz and Ali were keen to communicate and work to ensure that our day went well and the weather was awesome! I would highly recommend Baz and Ali at Harley Tours New Zealand to anyone who wanted to hire Harleys in New Zealand. Thanks guys, a great day!
A dream come true !!!!! I never thought I would be on a Harley bike ever but this country seems to make some dreams come true. Got a tour for my Christmas present from my boyfriend, it took me around Whangamata, Karangahake gorge,Such lovely scenery. Baz is such a cool guy, it would be soooooooooooooo cool to have a job that you love and enjoy also like giving the harley experience to some one else . Thank you for a great day thanks, ill see you again
Baz was a great tour guide, he showed me sites that i had never seen before and gave me information that i took home and shared with others. The bike was amazing, so comfortable and it felt really safe. He even stopped allowing me to take photos. My experience on the bike was memorable and we also had a great selection of music to listen to. :) Ali was so helpful and always welcoming when talking to her on the phone. They were both so flexible in organising a time for the ride, even when we had to postponed due to weather and my slight fears of getting on the back of a Harley for the first time. I really enjoyed this experience and would recommend others to exprience this for themselves.
I know i'd definatley like to do it again!
Thanks Baz and Ali for this experience. It was really FUN!
I would most certainly rank my experience as 10 out of 10. There was literally nothing more that I could have asked for. I had been suffering from sciatica so was very doubtful about my ability to even get onto the bike but with a bit of help I made it and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Baz was a very considerate and informative tour operator for me and I learned much about the surroundings of the locality I have been living in for some 8 years now. My experience was an absolute joy. Many, many thanks and best wishes for a prosperous future.
I did a Harley Davidson ride in Queenstown and it was awesome! One of the most exhilarating things I have even done! Graeme was great - he even went pillon passenger for me which was a real leap of faith! Would recommend this to everyone as a thing to do.
Shame I cant give a rating of more than 10!
This company certainly deserves a high rating.
I used them in Auckland a couple of weeks ago. A mate and myself wanted to visit Rotorua, but we were very short on time, ie one day.
We heard Baz and Peters bikes before we saw them. On walking out of the hotel in Auckland there was people admiring the 2 harleys.
Baz was one of the most professional guys I know, and safety was paramount.
After fitting us with jackets/helmets/gloves etc, they made sure we were ok as pillions and off we went.
This was without doubt the highlight of our trip. The scenery was breathtaking and the day flew buy
My biggest memory is riding out of Rotorua with the Rolling Stones, paint it black blasting out, what a way to go.
Baz made sure and reassured us all day if we were ok, and they would have us back to the airport in time.
I explained to Baz that at this time i didnt care if i missed the flight as if i did there was always another flight, and i would book another tour with them the next day.
Baz fortunately (or Un fortunately ) got us to the airport in time, no problems at all
I am now back in UK and am planning next years trip.
I cannot thank Baz enough for what he did for us, he was so utterley proffesional and a great guy to be with.
I thought I would send a thank you note for the QUEENSTOWN Harley hire.
The bikes were fantastic. Having only ever owned Japanese Sports Bikes and never been on a Harley or a Cruiser before we weren’t sure what it would be like or if we would enjoy it. As soon I rode down the street I instantly felt comfortable and confident. The bike fitted me perfectly. After a familiarisation ride around Lake Hayes and Arrowtown to Queenstown we picked up our wives and headed off to Glenorchy for brunch. Unlike my sports bike the Harley felt natural and really easy to ride with a pillion passenger. Even going ‘two up’ over the Crown Range to Wanaka for lunch was a breeze and a pleasure. After a leisurely ride to Cromwell and through the Kawarau Gorge we dropped the Ladies off at a Winery and went for a quick solo ride to Kingston and back before returning the bikes.
I’ve done a lot of riding over the last 30 years. A day spent touring Central Otago on a 2007 Harley Softail would have to top the list. We all enjoyed it so much we have decided to make it an annual event. Next time we might take them for two days.
When we picked up and dropped off the bikes Jo was wonderful. She is obviously an enthusiastic rider herself and her enthusiasm is infectious. We couldn’t have felt more welcome.
Please pass on our thanks to Jo and we look forward to seeing her next time. We will be recommending you to everyone we possibly can.
It was an absolutely breathtaking experience. The scenary was fantastic and the guys were great. We also learnt some local history which was great.
Had a blast and would recommend to anyone of all ages.
It was one of the top 3 things I have done in my life. I just need to find a man with a Harley and I will die a happy woman. The guys were fantastic. Thanks
I can not express how amazing our experience was. I orgainsed our 2 hour Pillion Tour as a surprise for my husbands birthday. He is recovering from cancer and one of his wishes was to have a Harley Ride. Ali and Baz helped me to orgainse a dream for him. We had to change the day we went due to the wether but were so please we did as the day could not have been more perfect. Terry & Kevin picked us up from our home to the greatest smile I have seen on Shane's face for such a long time. We had an amzing time, all our needs were meet and it is a day we shall never forget.
Thank you to everyone for making Shanes' dream come true.
Shane & Kathy Reily
This was bought for me as a gift I had no idea what to expect but Baz is great. Really interesting and definitely the best way to see this stunning part of NZ.
Reckon I'll be getting you to teach me to fly fish soon too Baz mate. :)
Baz and Kerry where brill! They made a grey slightly damp day a fanatstic day as part of my dad's 60th birthday treat. I'm tempted to get my own bike when I move to NZ. I thoroughly recommend this to everyone to try at least once as one of the best ways to explore NZ.
See you again in the future guys!
Fantastically fun way to experience all or parts of NZ! Ali & Baz provide friendly, professional service & all the right gear. So you feel entirely safe and look the part. (most important!) If you are like most people who don't own a Harley but spend a lot of time thinking about touring on one this is your chance - seize it!
Wow, did I have a great experience today. i was given a trip with Harley tours - I am a retiree, and the last motor bike I was on was a Panther in 1963!! Baz and Ali made sure I was kitted out in leathers and helmet, then we set off on a Ultra Classic Harley, where I sat in almost an armchair!! Baz was most helpful, and explained about the trip we took - into the Karangahake gorge, then up past Owharoa Falls, and thru the countryside. what a great experience, and a great gift, many thanks to Baz and Ali, and my family. would recommend to anyone.
This was the highlight of our trip to QUEENSTOWN the bikes were perfect and our riders/guide Graham and Dennis were just great to deal with along with Baz and Ali we could not have enjoyed our day out - hitting the rode to do the sights is amazing we enjoyed the company and saw sights and areas that you could not experience on any other mode of transport - it is Harley from now on for us both in NZ and around the world - on our travels - you feel years younger and it is an experience you have to do to believe it Graham and Dennis can show you around Queenstown and beyond in pure comfort and safety we just were amazed and count this as one of our outstanding highlights in our life (mid fifties) if you wantthe best go RIDING and you will not believe the experience - well worth the money and more - memories are priceless.
Awesome day mate - highly recommended. Great place, great bikes and great company.
Wow!! What a fantastic experience. I had a half day sightseeing tour on the back of a Harley and it really was one of the highlights of my trip to NZ. I especially loved that Baz was able to talk to me through the wireless headsets and so was actually learning about the area whilst taking in the beautiful scenery. Thanks guys!!!!!
Ride was a great thrill which we used as a reward to the winning team of the amazing race. No one new what was happening until the rider turned up and the winning team got to ride with a very capable and safe driver. Sitting on a Harley is something very special we reach 100 k per hour no problem. The only down side was the ride was too short - Very professional company. - Thanks for the thrill
What a fantastic day. It was my first time, but I felt really safe on the back, and was able to enjoy the ride straight away. The views were breathtaking, and the commentary from Baz over the headset included all sorts interesting stuff about the local area, its history and people. Great fun, thankyou.
Awesome, awesome, awesome!!!!!!! Guys were very professional, and obviously luv their bikes. Great way to see Auckland. There was no way I could convince Baz to let me ride his bike though. ha ha 10/10
OMG! Far toooo much fun! What a BLAST!
Gr8 guys......gr8 bikes......gr8 fun! Wanted to keep on riding into the sunset.
What a FANTASTIC way to see the sights! The bikers were all really friendly and the whole tour was perfectly organised, even with our huge group of 15 (thanks Baz & Ali). Amos was very accommodating, even though I'm a fat bottom girl. I felt safe and secure at all times. I loved the wind in my face and the bugs in my teeth and would have loved to have gone faster! Woo Hoo. Highly recommended!!!!
Great way to see a city! Laura and I loved every minute especially the trip through Cornwall Park to the top of One Tree Hill - stunning. The guides were great and Baz & Ali were really friendly and fantastic at organising our route. Highly recommended!
We had a great time, Sue really loved the trike and my ride with Colin was awsome. Its a great experience, especially the stop over at the Riverbend I think it was to stretch and top up fluid levels. Well done guys & Ali.
Great way to see the countryside, well organised for our group size. Harley riders were great guys, very friendly
Ali and Baz of Harley Tours were very helpful in the planning of our Auckland City Tour. We travelled as part of a group of 15 people (approx. 30 people in total including our friendly riders!), so there was alot of planning and organisation involved to make it all happen. It was great to finally meet Ali, Baz and the rest of the gang on the day. It was very exciting and we all had a fantastic time! All very positive feedback from this end. Everyone raved about how good the tour was, and they're all still talking about it. Even those that had a few nerves in the beginning soon got over it and really enjoyed the experience. I felt safe in the hands of the riders, who all seemed very experienced. They were a great bunch of guys, who obviously love their bikes and love what they do. A few people commented that it was a lot more comfortable on the bikes that had a back rest. It was also nice to have a rest break and stretch the legs. Magnificent scenery along the way - and a very unique way to see the sights of Auckland! It was a great experience and I would definitely recommend it.
It was a total surprise for me when Baz turned up on a Harley at Beach Vets our vet clinic to take me on a Harley ride. My parents had organised the trip as birthday present and being a bike loving girl the trip was right up my alley, I was not disappointed!! It did Rain and Hail on our ride, and I dont just mean a light hail, the road was white with the stuff. This made the trip for me! Being in hail on the back on a Harley is definitely not something to miss:) I was impressed by how professional and safety conscious Baz was, and it was refreshing to see that he was more worried about not making the trip long enough than short changing me.
I would not hesitate to recommend this trip to anyone (not just those with a love of bikes) as its a great way to see the beautiful things New Zealand has to offer.
What a great tour. The scenery was great, the guide new all about the history of the region, I felt safe all the time, even stopped for a bit of kiwi food and a brew.
Awesome - HK
Organised by my husband as a birthday treat as have wanted a ride on Harley for years. Totally meet my expectations.
I got in touch with Ali and Baz of Bularangi when I wanted to rent a Harley for my husband as a surprise birthday treat. Well, the surprise was that he would be riding the bike with me on the back for a few hours around the Coromandel! Baz was very thorough going over the Harley Softail before we took it out - and we had a great time. Definitely recommended (even from a novice bike rider like me!)Thanks Ali and Barry, regards Bridget
