This is a great place for the self-contained gang to stay for the evening. Please make sure you vacate the area between 10am and 4pm everyday. This site is limited to 10 campervans/motorhomes at any time.

Nice car park looking over the ocean, new drop toilet just behind the bushes. Don’t come here if windy, all in all. Good quite place to stop!
Stayed here Christmas Eve, it was only us and 2 other campervans. Would have been better if the weather was nice but the main reason for my low rating is the toilets were disgusting (very full long drop), and the traffic ALL night. Apparently it’s a teenager hang out, we had cars purposely peeling out, honking horns, screaming/yelling & loud music, spray painting penis’s all over the restroom and grass around it, shaking our van in the middle of the night (scared the crap out of us). Maybe it was because it was a holiday, but if you don’t mind the loud environment it’s ok..

Very quiet and clean, lovely view, didn’t use the communal cooking or seating but it was there. Cleanest long drop I’ve ever seen.
Large RV one night. Brilliant site overlooking the sea just stunning views. We arrived about 4 lots of space, filled up during evening but still a couple of spaces free. 20 min walk to nearest supermarket. Quiet site great to see the sunrise. Make sure you turn left up the hill & go under the Rotary club banner to find right place

Stayed here one night on our way down the east coast. It’s essentially a car park but we had the place to ourselves and the views in the morning were great. There’s a sports club toilet about 250m from the site. A&E
We arrived late so couldn’t see much, but when the sun rose over the water the next morning it was lovely to wake up to a beautiful spot.
Enough room for a few campers, overall lovely spot.
Great view of the sea. Nice spot, as mentioned b4, bit of a walk to the toilet. Can get very packed here. A little bit to far from amenities and shops for me!
Stunning views from what is essentially a carpark on the cliff top for about 10 vehicles. We took a wrong turn and had to back track but found it in the end. There were 3 spots left when we arrived at about 7pm and the other 2 spots were taken soon after we arrived. The toilet was a short walk away at the local sports grounds club rooms. They were clean. We preferred this area to the other one provided down by the port as this was just out of town and the views are amazing.
Nice, quiet spot. Towing a caravan, had to reverse 200m up to top parking area as there wasn’t much room to turn around.
Nice place. Asphalt parking lot for about 10 vehicles, all with sea view. Large grass space in front to relax, and there is an outdoor bbq available. Couldn't find the toilets other reviews speak of though...
Lots of locals come by in their car to sit in the car and fiddle on their phones for some time (good reception there maybe?),
30Oct18. Previous reviews give all the directions you need. A good spot looking out over the sea. Sunrise and seal in the morning.
Toilets close by and not such a long way to a fish and chip shop in King Street.
Arrived after a wet drive the rain kept on. Directions ok overlooking the sea but toilets a good walk especially in the wet, a true fre camping experience. After a wet night woke up to sun and 9 other campers in the park and a good view out over the sea.
Not difficult to find, but unmarked as free camping. We drove up to the Patiti Point Reserve; just keep going up road, past beach, to dead-end parking lot. You will be up from the ocean, but the view is beautiful. We parked at the very end against the bushes for some privacy, windy but lovely. There is a walking/biking trail close but non intrusive. Public bathroom; follow trail at dead-end of parking lot to a road, turn right up the road to a big soccer field on your left, bathrooms are through gate for field. It’s a 4 minute walk from car park. This site was quiet, no bugs, campers were spread out and all self-contained, yay freedom campers! Happy Camping 🌿
