Great place and friendly host. Bring cash (you can get cash out from Challenge service station as you pass town). It was $25 for powered site for 2 people. Kitchen has toaster, kettle, microwave etc. Shower is $1 - very clean and great pressure. Would stay again!
Can not fault this camping ground.. Great prices, great host, lovely open spaces..
Price: for 2 persons including stream; $25,00
Location: it’s a great location to drive to our from the Arthurs Pass. The camping is cozy
Douche: a perfect, clean and domestic. You must pay $1,00 for 4 minutes good hot water
The owner is very friendly and he had a great camper 😄
Very friendly hosts, nice open spaces, and good bathroom/shower facilities. We didn’t use the kitchen. Powered site has water as well, so bonus! There is a public dump station just outside the gate, so that was very convenient. This was a very nice stop for us.
This was by far one of the best campsites of both north and south islands travelled 4000 km and endless campsites springfield the best value friendly immaculate facilities a genuine oasis between east and west
Great place to stay for a night! Super clean amenities, friendly care taker, and very cheap ($30 for 3 adults powered).
Stayed here overnight to break up a long drive and what a surprise! Payed $20 for a powered site for 2 people- cheapest you’ll get! Lovely well kept place with lots of space for all! Had clean toilets, warm showers, a kitchen, and even a playground! The owners were very lovely and had a lovely little dog too
This was the cutest little campground, it is so well maintained and has great friendly spirit! Well priced, clean showers and toilets - Showers are $1 for 4 minutes (must have NZ $1 coin). The kitchen area was a bit small for amount of people needing it. Cute common area to relax. No dumb station and no cooking facilities except microwave and toaster. Surrounded by gorgeous small town and scenery.
Very nice campsite with good facilities and cheap.
Cost (2p, non-powered): $15 (+$1 per 4minute shower)
Location: Close to a road/railway line but neither is particularly busy. Nice enough views over fields but not what you'd call stunning
Facilities: Kitchen (a few facilities) with big communal dining area, showers, washer/dryer, tennis courts
Other: There's a cat which earns a bonus point from me!
Really nice campsite and caretaker, lit up with Christmas decorations - very nice wooden lodge with kitchen and clean toilets, only downside is lots of moths and cockroaches outside the bathroom at night because of the lights but they weren’t inside. Really good value for money also, $25 for 4 adults unpowered
Lovely small site. Very friendly and welcoming. The fairy lights at night meant it was easy to negotiate in the dark. Beautiful views onto open countryside, from the rear of the pitch. A very enjoyable stay. Would certainly recommend.

Beautiful, safe, and right off the main road, this camping ground provided my 4 girlfriends and I the perfect destination for the first stop in our camping adventure. When we ran into some troubles with our camper, the owner was quick and willing to help us solve all our issues.
Showers and bathrooms were very clean and well maintained.
Highly recommend this cozy campground!
Best campground of the trip so far! Amenities were super clean and freshly painted with flowers and the showers were super hot and only cost $1 for 4 minutes! Manager was lovely and at $15 for 2 people unpowered a night it was super serenic with snow capped mountains in the background.
Great little camp on domain grounds. Impressive recently updated
ablusion blocks very clean. Very safe kids playground tennis courts. Friendly camp managers. Report to office before driving through🌟🌟🌟🌟
Lovely little camping, cheap (20 nzd/night powered, 2 people), very friendly caretaker. We stayed 2 nights with a campervan and the caretaker made sure we had the same spot both nights. Hot shower 1$ for 4 min. Lovely, friendly big cat on premises. Would recommend.
Well this was really a good place. Clean
1$ the showers 15$ unpowered for 2 persons..... maybe not the “fancy” top 10 but in my eyes much better and sympathetic.
Quiet and sometimes a train.....but even that wasn’t disturbing our night rest.
Lovely place and owners! Commum kitchen and living room! For hot shower we paid nzd 1,00 -4min.

Very friendly camp site, nice stay for a night. Nothing too special.
Great place. Pets are OK on a led. Nice manager
Very nice campsite and the owners! Common room with kitchen stuff and many books is available, cheap washing mashines and showers as well. Highly recommend!
This camp site didn't seem like much at first sight however, the hosts are very friendly and their passion for the place shows in the state of the facilities. Kitchen and lounge area are very cozy and well equipped ( the only thing missing is an actual stove/cooking spot but if you can cook in your camper you're golden). Bathrooms are on the older site but we'll maintained and very clean. They even have a washer. It is very close to the highway and railroad but noises weren't a problem inside our van.
Good spot on the way to Arthur Pass. Little kitchen, hot showers and a nice dinning room. Worth the price
Access savings worth hundreds of $$ on Top Ranked NZ Accommodation and Activities for just $1 per day.
Perfect little campsite! Very friendly, welcoming warden. $20 for a powered pitch for 2 people. Brilliant hot showers costing $1 for 4 minutes and clean and tidy facilities.
What a perfect, simple, clean and super convenient stopping point straight out of Christchurch Airport. Collected our campervan, quick shop @supermarket & easy drive south-west for night 1.
Great place as advertised, has a lot of facilitys and costs the same for two people no power as a doc site, wish there were more like this
This is one of the best camps for value for money.clean, happy people very affordable. We have been there 3 times in 2 years and loved it. Will be making this a regular stop from now on.well done.
Powered site. Reasonable price. Nice view of the hills. Showers $1 for 4 mins.
Picked up our van from Christchurch and came straight here, our first taste of NZ campgrounds. Super cosy cabin with sofas and brilliant kitchen. Laundry. Showers $, but plenty of time. Showers block not plush, but clean. Lovely friendly atmosphere. Tennis courts. Peaceful. Highly recommended for stop-over.
Loved this site. Good facilities and good value for money. Facilities basic but clean. Good stopover if leaving or heading for Christchurch. Tennis courts.Lovely cosy cabin with kitchen and sitting room. Hook-up. Laundry.
It is basic but clean paid showers which is great
But the price is incorrect on the website cost double $15 for 2 and $20 for power extra people $5
Large ground, clean toilets, dump station and drinking water. Good value.
Quiet campsite with great communal cooking and eating facilities, $1 for a hot shower and $10 for two people on an unpowered site. $5 dollar each for two people in a van for all this is unheard of in NZ ! The facilities are slightly dated but at these prices who cares? It all works and is very clean! Not a sandfly in sight this morning so had breakfast on their sofas on a sun filled porch to birdsong, overlooking a grassy field. Amazing. Definitely recommend.
We paid $20 for a powered site for 2 people; it has a small kitchen, lounge area and toilets with showers. For hot shower you pay $1. Best campsite in value/price ever and the facilities are clean. Very recommendable.
Good price, bit muddy but the hosts were very welcoming.
What a great campsite for $10 (& that was for 2 of us, non powered). We stayed here several times over a 2 month trip, basically whenever we needed a shower ($1 for 4 minutes hot). Communal lounge/dining area to hide in when it rains, communal kitchen with all the necessities (they didn't seem to mind you charging your phone up here either), waste dump and fresh water. Yes, it's not scenic but you literally cannot get more for your campsite money in NZ. Super friendly caretaker too.
The hosts were very welcoming and we had a wonderful stay!
The pros are that it's convenient and indeed has most of the amenities you'd need for a night or two. The cons are that I don't think it's that inexpensive for what you get (but it's certainly not priced unfairly either), the facilities are dated, and it has zero scenic charm. I stayed here the first night on arrival because it was close to where I needed to be the next day. Otherwise I probably would have passed it by. It served its purpose for me in that regard.
I believe the shower was a dollar for 6 minutes of hot.
If you are looking for absolute bare minimum then this is for you. Disappointed as there are rave reviews on this site. We decided to move on as there was only a derelict playground and a lonely sheep farm for sights and activities for kids.
Excellent place to camp ,friendly campers and supervisor ,,showers are clean, and the flowers a real bonus , grounds are in excellent condition ,we have stayed there quite a few times and will again in the near future ..when the weather warms up lol ..
One of my favourite campsites on the South Island! It is basic and not particularly scenic but it is cheap at $10 for 1 or 2 people with coin operated showers. The caretaker was super friendly and the lounge and kitchen area were great on a cold evening! There are no stoves for cooking but for $10 I can't complain. I heard one train go past when I was there but it wasn't that loud so didn't bother me :)
One of the best camp grounds in New Zealand (and we criss crossed both Islands over 6 weeks!!). We had a powered site for 2 @ $20 which is great as there are hot showers ($1), clean drinking water, dump station, laundry, clean flush toilets, kitchen and lounge. The Tranzalpine train went past about 5.30 pm and it WASN'T noisy as some suggest. The cheery manager, Roy, will call and collect your fees. The grounds are flat and well grassed. Simply a great spot. Springfield has some great places to shop at too, and delicious pub meals, although a very small village. Thanks heaps to the Springfield Community. Can highly recommend.
Easy to find in the dark. Plenty of space for larger campervans. $20 for 2 adults and 2 children on a powered site. Toilet and showers old but clean. Kitchen and dining area basic but functional. Kids enjoyed the playground. Would stay again.
This spot is a great first night out of Christchurch or last night before return. There is a kitchen, washing machine, dump station and garbage facilities. Roy the caretaker is friendly, helpful and wonderfully laid back. We stayed here March 2016 and highly recommend it. The rate for a powered or non-powered site is fair with showers $1. No coins? Don't fret, Roy will help you out. There is a great coffee shop nearby and Springfield Hotel offers a bistro meal or pub grub on a Monday. Both within a 15 minute walk. Fuel is also available. The camp ground backs onto farming land so is peaceful. Yes there is a train nearby, but you really don't notice it. Oh, and for you Simpson's fans, while in Springfield, don't forget to pose for a pic in the big donut.
$10 without power and $20 with power for 2 adults, cheap, but:
No real kitchen, no stove! Only pans, cups, plates, toaster and water boiler and water to wash dishes. Small children playground and tennis court (for free) which is nice. Facilities can not be ranked as there were no light (maybe broken?) on the ladies site!!!!! So I have done my things in our own camper. The owner was friendly, but not available all the time (would be good to have him seen after 6pm to change the light at the toilets!) Be aware of the trains, they are loud and in the morning they start to horn when they cross, so a lot of noise! 1 night stop ok, but definately not more.
Cheap and cheerful with an old pavilion and small kitchen with no cooking facility. Toilets and showers dark and very old but clean. Plenty of powered pitches. Good for Arthur's Pass.
We turned up here after reading the the positive reviews and the 5 star rating. We took a look around and if you want a cheap site next to a railway line and very basic facilities then it's for you. But it's certainly not 5 star!!!
Awesome campground. $10 for 2 people, unpowered. Super clean toilets & showers. Kitchen & lounge area with hot water (bring your own stove inside). Friendly ground keeper who will pass by to collect fees. Small playground & tennis court. Washing machine. Pretty close to the train line but I heard only 1 train much before bedtime! Fantastic spot if you're passing this way! Can also recommend the Springfield hotel for a meal, just 2 minutes away, in town.
I spent a night here before driving up to the West Coast and this place is a really good stop by. The facilities are basic but clean. The only issue was the train noise at night once a while. Overall this is a great place and the person in charge is very friendly.
Nice place, but kitchen was closed. Warm showers for $1. $5 per person on an unpowered site.
Very good, quite and spacious place to stay overnight. 20$ for two, cheapest powered site we got on our 9 days trip of South Island.
Nice place to stay, very friendly staff, 4 min for shower for $1. $7 for 2 persons unpowered, $15 powered.
Nice spot to stay overnight! Friendly staff, hot shower for only $1. Price was $7 for two people unpowered.
the kitchen and the living room were closed, we were alone under the trees but we enjoyed it, the train was really noisy, the facilities are basic, staff is friendly
Not much of a landscape but EXTREMELY nice caretakers. Very helpful, super facilities.
A very clean place to stay. The caretakers are very helpful and friendly. Showers cost $1 for 4 minutes but are nice and hot. All sites are on the grass. The train was a bit of a surprise but it only came through twice while we were there.
Matt & Sue Standish
Great spot, with grassy area for parking. Showers cost $1 for 4 minutes, with toilet block and dump facilities. Clean and tidy. If you like trains, you're in luck, because its right next to the train track.
