Brilliant experience, our tour guide was very knowledgeable as he works hands on for the company, telling us great little stories. Well worth a visit if you like films.
Good tour around the Weta Workshop. We got to see how they do stuff and prepare for movies. The people there are so talented. Great tour.
Very interesting. Explains how films and accessories are made. Not only for Lord of the Rings fans. Worth its price.
As a huge fan of the Lord of the Rings, I had to go there..... A bit disappointed, as all they do is try to take all your money, very expensive, but still worthy to pay for the guided tour.
No photos are allowed inside this Aladdin's Cave of movie props. You get to hold props from loads of movies and get to learn loads about how they are made and how they are used on set.
We loved gaining insight to the behind-the-scenes of some of our favourite flicks. Our tour guide was awesome.
This tour was brilliant. The guide was full of interesting stories and insight for the making of some of our favourite films.
Great tour for getting to know the beautiful work of this cool company.
I am a huge Lord of the Rings fan so I booked the tour and we were with such incredible people and we saw so many things, yes 10/10!!
Very interesting and impressive, especially for fans of Lord of the Rings.
Super team, go there if you like the Lord of the Rings - just expensive.
Was really cool seeing how the props for films were made. The tour guide was full of information and showed a mix of films, not just Lord of the Rings which was refreshing.
Thank You - to the thousands of travellers that have contributed to our Top Voted NZ Activities Map - it's free from Rankers.
Great, loved seeing all of my favourite props and replicas and the free video is a must. Don't expect to see lots of prop making in action on the weekends if you do the tour.
Amazing! Only positive, professional costume design, you discover their universe, one of the best things I did in New Zealand.
Thomas Le Buzulier
This is the company who did the weapons, clothes, props to Lord of the Rings. They have also done props for many other movies as well. Really interesting tour with a lot of information about how to make props and such.
We were on the standard tour and we really enjoyed it. But we are fans of the Lord of the Rings and many more movies that Weta Workshop helped to do, so I cannot be negative.
Flo and Frieda
Interesting and cool movie equipment. OK price, exhibition area was quite small, the guide seemed a little bored.
Little, little museum and King Kong mask were really good, but you have to pay for the tour.
Interesting to see how they produce all the requisites for different movies. Although the tour was a little bit short.
Must-do for Lord of the Rings fans and others. This is the place where they created the figures and animation. You can book a tour and see a film.
Good tour for the price, would like it to have lasted all day! Very interesting and very well informed guides.
Must do for Lord of the Rings fans!
Really awesome workshop, through the studios of really fascinating people. But $20 for 1 hour is a bit overpriced but okay.
Super interesting and totally worth it, did not expect them to create and help with so many movies, $25, quite expensive.
45 minute tour of the Weta Workshop where Lord of the Rings and many other film props and costumes are designed and made. Interesting but only okay value for $25.
A fantastic look at how the magic works behind the silver screen. Lovely guides - good stories and a fantastic coffee shop around the corner.
Great Lord of the Rings and movie production stuff.
One of our favourite spots in Wellington - if you enjoy movies or are a Tolkein fan it is a must. Follow it with a coffee and cake at the Roxy Cinema and lunch at the Chocolate Fish Cafe.
If you are interested in FX and/or the movie industry, this place is really worth the investment. Heaps of 'toys' all around and the guide was funny. Be aware that if your english is not that good it is not worth it.
Such a cool place to visit! I only went into the first store part on the way to the airport but I think it was a great thing to do for free!
I definitely want to go back and do the tour!
Not that great value for money but still interesting!
Here we had a look behind the scenes of all the Lord of the Rings movies and others! Fantastic, we could see how they made the swords, the costumes......
Guide was very good, provided in depth insights and enthusiasm, really interesting items. Just wish I could have had a photo with some props.
Very interesting, would have liked to see more.
Great to see how they make all the features for the movie.
Awesome tour guide, Bridget, made the experience. She really livened ip the whole group and was able to give insight into any aspect of their work people asked about. A great for any modern film fan.
Weta Cave - look into the workshop - great for movie fans. Fantastic look into the prop making process. Our guide was little too hasty, but otherwise helpful.
Lots of display. Good information about cinema and costume production.
Very small museum where you can see props from Peter Jackson films and a DVD showing history of company. Not great, but I did see Peter Jackson on the way there, which was nice.
Fascinating at free entry - worth a visit.
Behind the scene movie was great and fun to see even for no movie freaks. The selling props are also wonderful to see. Is a bit small.
Absolutely a good place to go if you like movies, they worked on Lord of the Rings, Avatar, King Kong and many other movies for the special effects.
We really enjoyed seeing hot the likes of LOTR and Avatar were filmed and seeing some real film merchandise.
Helen & Laurence
Small museum and DVD about Weta Workshop. Some props from Lord of the Rings etc. Good if you are interested in the films.
Dave van Bergen
Especially the movie 'behind the scenes' is very interesting.
Smaller than expected but still fascinating for a Lord of Rings geek like me!!
Some cool set pieces from LOTR and a few other recognisable movies. The exhibtion was very small though, they really mean a 'mini-museum'.
Fantastic models from the Lord of the Rings. The video shows how the movies were made and all the hard work that goes into them.
