A group of six friends went out on the Dive Tutukaka boat "Perfect Day" on the 14th March. This coincided with the Release of two Turtles back into the wild. This was an amazing experience! The whole day was fantastic!! Have seen sights world wide, and this trip to the Poor Knights was right up there with the best! Tourists its a must see and day out! Our Skipper was so good and was able to give great information on the way there and back. Crew so helpful all day.
Thanks Dive Tutukaka.

This was one of my favourite locations - our guide Will was extremely helpful and passionate about his job - the whole crew were so nice as the boatride out was a bit bumpy - the diving was so clear and well organised - clear water/heaps of rays, plant life and fish!!!
My first time snorkelling and it was absolutely amazing. The view from the boat was stunning, likewise, under the sea, beautiful fish, plants and animals. The staff were also nice.
Great crew and beautiful sights. Cold! Prefer coral reefs and bigger fish but it was a totally different dive that I have done before and it was amazing!
We went diving t the Poor Knights Islands. Really friendly team, good lunch, awesome weather. We dived twice, saw some stingray, snapper and even dolphins on our way back!
Good professionals but expensive for only snorkelling. Great place.
Good organisation, good diving. Quite expensive though.
Fantastic dive and crew. Large boat with the correct number of crew which meant there was 1 dive master between 4 of us. Poor Knights Islands is a great place to dive. Would dive here and with this company again
The dive operation was well-organized, on time, and we got what we expected - a great experience and a nice lunch. The crew were informative, helpful, and safe. And we saw orcas!!!!!
My personal New Zealand highlight so far. Learn to dive in a 3 day open water dive course at a breathtaking marine reserve of the Poor Knights Islands.
A perfect day! We started early in the morning, had our first scuba diving experience which was great, and later on had time to explore the sea life by kayaking and snorkelling. We were able to swim with a seal!

Less people on board as it is a smaller boat. Poor Knights Islands is a great spot to dive or snorkel but the lunch could be better!
Very well organised trip. The boat ride through Poor Knights was very rough. Lots of people were seasick but the staff were helpful.

Fantastic day out with very experienced and friendly staff. I had a phone conversation and met with 2 office staff before we went, and all were very friendly and informative, even to advising us to wait a day for better weather (which meant they could have lost our business), and letting us know about the best walks and places to free-camp in the area. They booked us in without even taking any deposit, so we just had to confirm on the day - and pay then! Wonderful service! We were only snorkelling, but they still gave us as much attention as the divers, the Poor Knights is a wonderful snorkelling (as well as diving) destination.
Ruven did his certification here. He just needed the last three dives. Very friendly staff and nice spots. Great fun!
Great experienced staff. I felt safe underwater. Impressive underwater world!
The most organised dive centre I have ever encountered. Three boats full of people, organised with military precision. Good quality hire kit and knowledgable and helpful staff. 260 dollars each for a full day with 2 dives. It's expensive but holiday diving always is especially when you are hiring full kit. The ten dollar lunch was fine, a nice sandwich, two pieces of fruit and a chocolate bar. Free tea coffee hot chocolate and soup. The only downside which surprised me for such a top quality dive centre was no showers, you come back from two wetsuit dives and you need somewhere to shower and wash your hair. I have never encountered this previously. They said there was a hot shower on the boat but there wasn't.
Very cool experience diving around the marine reserve. Very professional and quality dives to boot!
Overpriced! For so much money - no food on the boat (only soup and coffee on a full day trip), no insurances on snorkel and mask (customer has to pay for when lost), unfriendly staff.
Very friendly people, very trustworthy. Good diving experience. Good equipment.
10 points for the dive center. Perfect organisation, friendly, efficient and professional. Always with a smile.
6 points for the dives. For me it was less for the money. ( 260$ for 2 dives incl. Equipment) I read a lot about the diving places and I expected more from the places. The landscape is very nice.
Excellent trip. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the packed lunch provided. Loved the dolphins.
Organise a dive trip to Poor Knights (island group), at Dive Tutukaka. Closest largest town is Whangarei. Excellent.
Poor Knight Islands are a beautiful diving area. Good service.
Perfect first scuba diving discovery day.
Access savings worth hundreds of $$ on Top Ranked NZ Accommodation and Activities for just $1 per day.
Very busy at base but very efficient in kitting up and getting right size wetsuit. Excellent tour of islands and commentary. 2 dives/sites very good guiding, made it very interesting, good fish (and birds later).
Great staff but we hoped for more marine experience.
+ Very professional, perfect gear, nice boat trip, awesome diving.
- Terrible current with the first dive.

Diving at the Poor Knights Islands, very beautiful, very nice and humourous crew! But very cold in November (beginning of November).
Company very professional and the trip was ok. The diving a bit disappointing.
Diving at Poor Knights Islands was great. Organisation was good, diving equipment was good.
Marvelous, awesome! Great.
Beautiful colours to see. See a lot of different fish and all other kinds of sea life.
Norm and Sky
Did snorkelling tour. Very fine day.

Great crew, good diving guides, good equipment.

Just amazing! Great team, nice boat and fantastic diving spots!
Very good crew! But too many people on the boat and the first dive site wasn't too good! Guide/diver ratio was good (5 divers per guide), very expensive.
Good people and equipment.
Awesome organisation. Good equipment. Very enthusiastic crew on board. Amazing spots. :( a bit expensive $250/person (1 day - 2 dives - 1 sandwhich).
Really great staff, diving was good but expected more for a Top 10 dive site.
Brilliant trip. I did 2 introductory dives and they were superb. My instructor for the day was truly excellent, patient, willing to let me do things in my own time and didn't push when I was uncomfortable. This was a great introduction to diving for me and I would heartily recommend to anyone wanting to do it. My husband did a refresher dive and he was very impressed with the operation, there was him, one guide and another diver in a small group. We both felt that the instructors were the right mix of responsible and yet still could have a laugh. The soups and hot chocolates were also a great addition after those cold water dives!
Diving company that proposes an amazing dive at the Poor Knights Islands - a famous dive spot in NZ. Service was excellent, staff friendly, maybe a little bit expensive for a really small budget.
Well done Dive Tutukaka – and I’m sure you’ve heard that before! Very impressed with your system and organisation and the quality of your team – in this case Sam and Neil on the boat for safety, friendly manner and knowledge and enthusiasm shared. I had a brilliant day out there - in the middle of winter! I could have snorkelled the Poor Knights all day. And that's largely due to how well Dive Tutukaka do things.
Thanks again and best wishes
Brilliant team, brilliant dive sites, over 100 named. The only dive operator I have found in NZ to go every day except Christmas day.
The most impressive dive operation I have ever been to, bar none.
Without a doubt the most professional dive center I've ever experienced! Staff was friendly and very well organized. The dive site was great and we had a wonderful day.
First class dive company. I dove with them five days and they made an effort to take me to a different site every day, although some sites were better than others. Make sure you see blue maomao arch. Lots of color commentary on the islands, I learned something new every day. One day included a detour to see dolphins in the area. They only do the wreck dives if enough people sign up and I didn't get to go. No nitrox available. No snacks included and the paid lunch is rather small, bring your own.
Diving in Tutukaka.
Great Fun! If you are an experienced diver you should definitely get up here! Beautiful dives, weel run, great staff only down side was the cold water.
Have done 500+ dives worldwide - this outfit really is first rate both on shore & at sea. Great boat and expert dive guides.
Did referral dive to get PADI and discovered scuba and snorkelling compnay very thorough and caring - made sure the non-scuba divers were looked after and helped (especially as sick on way out and back) - expensive.
Awesome snorkling day at poor Wright iIslands. Have seen a lot of beautiful fish down there. Very enthusiastic and helpful crew. Is worth the money.
Beautiful tour showing highlights. The staff were excellent with a good sense of humour.
Vera Van Schie
very great day

The poor knights islands are a beautiful scuba dive spot it's a professional crew.
One of the most professional and organized dive operations I have come across - had an awesome day above and below the water at the poor knights.
Good fun. Cool, funny people. We took a dive course. Professional, but in a fun way. If you want to dive, Dive North!
Friendly team, helpful and entertaining. The diving was incredible, like nothing i have ever seen.
Well organised company.
Brilliant refresher course, wonderful & friendly staff/instructors. Would recommend.
I've been out with Dive Tutukaka a number of times and have never had a bad days diving. I am a reasonably experienced diver, so usually either arrive with my own buddy or get buddied with another lone diver. There are always enough guides on the boat to hand hold the less experienced divers so they have no need to team them up with expereinced customers. I've always been satisifed with their choice of buddy.
On the odd occassion I've felt the need for a guide they have listened carefully to my needs. My first dry suit dive I was assigned a guide with the same kind of dry suit as I had purchased to offer practical advice relevant to my needs rather than a standard guiding service.
I notice that someone thought the lunches were a little small - I've never come away hungry.
This is also the only operator I've used that routinely offer real coffee after the dive!
Funny and knowledgable staff. A safe and fun experience! Poor knights are a must!
Fantastic trip to the poor knights. Best dive i've ever done. Really enthusiastic + helpful staff. Couldnt fault them at all.
Well organised diving with the most humourous and entertaining safety briefing I've ever seen. The crew were all friendly and knowledgeable and helped put us at our ease - despite the awful weather on the outbound trip.
the diving at the islands was excellent, however the tour claimed we'd also have time for snorkelling and kayaking, but this didn't really happen.
Dive Tutukaka responds:
There is so much to fit in at the Poor Knights, and many activity choices. I am sorry you didn't feel like you had as much time as you would have liked. We spend about 6 hours at the Islands, but you can always come again the next day!!
A must do.
The guide was amazing. It's like going on a new planet.
Knowledgeable, competent and engaging dive masters & boat captains. Dove at wrecks and Poor Knights Island sites. Enjoyed both.
Nice crew, shuttle service from Whangarei. Lunch for $10 but you can also bring your own food. Good equipment, dives in groups of 5-6 with dive coach or alone. Unfortantly we had to wait for the shuttle back to Whangarei, but theres a resturant/bar beneath.
Did a tour tour on a boat & 2 introductory dives at the beginning of Feb 09. Organisation was excellent and very reasonably priced. All people involved were professional and friendly.
Friendly people, good equipment, good lunch.
Great service. The lunch was good but a bit small for Swedes.
Excellent crew and very funny.
Experienced staff. They take extremely care that nobody will pollute the sea. Rent equipment average.
Excellent organisation and hot water shower on the dive vessel. Also very good strories and briefing.
Excellent equipment, experienced guides. Safe and good explanations. Expensive.
Awesome dive at the Poor Knights Islands with Dive!
absolutely amazing, staff, water, diving, location, everything!!!
Jo and Tony
Relaxed yet organised and efficient. Super friendly and loads of crew on the boat.
Amazing! Best diving I've done so far.
Really friendly and consistant.
