Have been woken up every single hour by the bloody clock. Why can't they just turn it off at night? Never again.
Each camping location is approved by a regional council in NZ. So if it shows on the map, you’re allowed to stay.

Great spot located right in the downtown of Hastings, but bring your earplugs!!
Very convenient to the downtown, one block away from the clean bathrooms by the bus station, two blocks away (behind the library) is a filtered bottled water refill. Ample parking, but you have to leave by 9 am, when the parking lot returns to its day use as a for pay parking lot. The big drawback was the fact that you are right in the downtown, next to active train tracks. Through the night it was very nice and quiet, but starting in the early morning (5:30 am for us ) the city starts to wake up around you, and will wake you up without earplugs. Garbage trucks, the early train, and the general car traffic are pretty hard to ignore otherwise.

The description of this lot is accurate, and it is the perfect location if you want to stay in a cute Hawke's Bay town for the night!
If you are looking for night life, Cue Bar was local and really fun, playing awesome New Zealand music and had cheap drinks! Plus it's just up the road from where you've parked!
There is no washroom, but public washrooms are open until 9pm just down the road, or the bar is open late.
Police station just down the road, so felt perfectly safe. Cute shops, cafes, and restaurants all in walking distance. We love Hastings!

This is a parking lot in the middle of the CBD thus the location is ideal to walk out the door and check out all the shops or eat a bite - like staying in a hotel with the great location but no cost. It was remarkably quiet at night except you are right next to the bell tower (it's really not that loud).
