Wonderful motorhome journey made in the Toyota Jumbo 2 seater diesel automatic camper. The Toyota Jumbo with its slightly more powerful engine is very liked. Jeroen's and Lorraine's great support and warm reception gave us a carefree 4 weeks!

A family run business, with personal attention. Good price-quality ratio. For travellers from abroad very nice to stay the night at the family's B&B in Rotorua, before taking to the road. Choice between new and used Campervans.

After arriving in New Zealand, we were taken by taxi from the airport to Rotorua Campervans. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed (as if we were there for years).
After acquaintance we could take a room in their B & B to just relax. At night we could, while enjoying a glass of wine, enjoy a delicious meal and we got all the time to ask a few things about New Zealand. Tired but satisfied we went to bed. Having got a great night's sleep and an excellent breakfast, we got a detailed explanation of the motorhome (in Dutch, very handy), and so many tips that you can fill it with several holidays. Relaxing time! And knowledgable we could start our tour. This was great (also thanks many tips). A problem with the refrigerator was quickly and efficiently remedied. All in all a great service and therefore a top holiday. If we go again we will be back in Rotorua Campervans. Thanks very much!
On March 6, we left for New Zealand. We had heard about good experiences with Rotorua Campervans. After reading their site, including many references, we contacted them and from the first contact we "clicked". They provided personal service and clear and friendly answers to our questions. After exchanging emails we booked nice camper (the Mileo) as well as 2 additional nights in their B & B. The reception at RotoruaCampervans was particularly warm and we felt very welcome. It is a special experience to be received that personal way. We had dinner together and exchanged some fun trip stories with each other and slept in the fine B & B. On the day of departure with the camper, everything was well explained as well as some "facts" about traffic and tips on using the app Camper Mate, and we also discussed the benefits of using a local mobile provider and having a good look at the weather forecast. Very practical and as promised no surprises. What struck us was how the camper was completely furnished, full inventory for the kitchen, linen and towels etc. but also two mountain bikes and a gas BBQ. We had a carefully compiled folder of the scenic route to take, and ideas of things to see. We have been to the North and South Island and we had wonderful trip in a very beautiful and friendly country, where the first impression but also the farewell was marked by the hospitality of Lorraine, Jeroen and their kids, thank you dear people. If we decide to visit New Zealand again we do not have to go looking for a motorhome because we'll come to RotoruaCampervans. Kia Ora, Ingrid and Aart Wagelaar.
Extremely cordial reception and a beautifully manicured property for the first night. I was traveling alone for a few weeks so it was very nice to be here speaking my language and talking about all the special places in New Zealand. I hired an 'older' bessie and it was well maintained, and drove well for 7,000km, besides I did not need luxury and found I can go anywhere just fine with this smaller version of a camper. Upon returning, I was again warmly welcomed and they were incredibly helpful in the further planning of my trip. It is highly recommended to hire the camper through Rotorua Campervans.
It has been a very good experience to rent a campervan at Rotorua Campervans. The day of arrival you will have a nice place to rest and you will get a lot of tips of the best places to see in this wonderful country.
Enjoy your NZ experience.
We prefer to give two figures:
a 9 for Jeroen and Lorraine of the rental company, they are very affectionate, give excellent guidance, have a great B & B!
a 5.5 for the camper: we requested a small camper with a bed for 2 and a height of 2m. That expectation was certainly satisfied. What we had not expected was the age of the motor, which was a bit older, 14 years. What was disappointing, was the quality was of the (bed / couch) cushions, not soft enough for us. Furthermore, the handling was not easy: especially in NZ, with many mountains and turns, the car would go uphill with great difficulty. The equipment was otherwise all right, nothing was missing. We also had no problem on the way. The focus from us in the future: more questions about renting RV!
Rotorua Campervans responds:
We would like to thank you for your review and feedback, off course we appreciate the 9 for our service, but we think a 5.5 for our campervan is not a fair rating because the bed was not soft enough. We do understand that a bed is a real personal thing and that the same bed can be to soft for one person and to firm for someone else (most of our guests love this big bed) We could have easily solved your "firm" bed by adding an extra peace of foam, but you only informed us on the end of your 3 week rental.
We have a range of campervans from NEW to our 20 year old RETRO Isuzu to try to satisfy all of our clients budgets, but all of our campervans first have to comply with our high personal standards, new or old before they go on hire.
The 2 berth camper you rented has a 2.4L petrol injection motor and has all the power you need in a campervan, it is a nice and great to drive campervan that can easy keep up with other traffic, but after all it is still a campervan and not a sports car. After you returned this campervan I took your handling comment very serious and took it for a long test drive on some (very steep) hills and on some of these hills I had to change down to as low as 2nd gear to still get uphill with ease, even in a brand new campervan (or sports car) I would have to use the 2nd and 3rd gear on these steeper hills but you will lose your speed fast and would go uphill with great difficulty if you are trying to get up the same hill in the wrong gear. So I found nothing wrong with the handling of this campervan as long as I used the right gears.
All our campervans are delivered clean and come with quality inventory. Specially because you state that your requested campervan was up to your expectation, the equipment was otherwise all right, nothing was missing and you also had no problems on the way with the campervan and you where certainly satisfied (accept the bed) we think this campervan deserved a higher rating.
Kind Regards, Jeroen and Lorraine
A very warm welcome from the owners and a free night in their B&B (from a certain number of rental days onward) was the perfect start of our holiday. Our Toyota Explorer campervan was spacious inside but compact and very easy to drive. They gave us a thorough explanation of car & country, and very reasonable tariffs. We would certainly come back!
Small company with excellent personal service. Your trip starts with a night at their bed & breakfast, so you can get rid of your jet lag.Clear explanation of how the van works. Good price- quality ratio. We hired a van for three months and had a great time.

After a long journey from the Netherlands, we were welcomed with a delicious meal. Having got a good night's sleep in the cozy and complete B & B we expanded explanation of the camper and a lot of good tips, where we used a lot. Especially the tips about the area of Rotorua we can recommend. Take time for this environment. The camper we got it was neat, complete and in good condition. No unexpected or hidden costs! In short, a must here to book your motorhome.
The service, hospitality and assistance provided byJoe and Lorraine is of a ***** quality. We can't imagine a better start of a camper holiday in NZ than with Rotorua Campers. Value for money, personal attention, great assistance and trip information, is what they offered. Through these aspect, it was a wonderful and great trip to remember for ever. Wish all future camper travellers to NZ to choose this great couple. With best regards, Vera, Netty and Sjack from NL
