Extraordinary gardens, went there beginning of February. You can easily spend 2-3 hours just walking around and discovering the local flora. Check out the begonias house. A must see if you are visiting Christchurch!

The most beautiful place in Christchurch. I recommend to visit this place when you are in Christchurch. One of a few untouched places by the big earthquake.

Great place with an even better playground. From toddlers to 12 years. Great place. You can visit the gardens even in bad weather. Some are inside and very warm. But still..... you need to love nature. If you don't, spend your time somewhere else.

Great gardens. Well designed. I always visit botanic gardens whenever I travel to get an overview of the country. This was interesting because they do not seem keen on weeding! Convolvulus, goose grass and other perennial weeds in evidence.

Great visit and spent several hours wandering through this world-class garden. Different features from Native New Zealand trees and bushes, through to a superb rose garden and an equally impressive Heritage Rose Garden on the other side of the Avon. Sadly the glass housese were damaged in the earthquake so no admittance but a new visitor center and tropical display is under construction.
