15 minutes return - for seal pup entertainment and a beautiful waterfall

The Ohau Stream and Waterfall walk makes for a great side-trip alongside viewing the seals at Ohau Point Lookout, keep following the road for a few hundred metres - as it descends to the coast. Then Look for a signpost indicates the Ohau Stream and Waterfall walk.

The Ohau Stream and Waterfall walk begins underneath the railway line and leads you beside the stream through the trees to a small waterfall. During daytime, you are most likely to see the seal pups playing in the waterfall while their parents are out in the ocean fishing.

Please note that the seal pups are only there during winter months.

Short walk to a small waterfall that is home to lots of baby seals. They are adorable and play with each other. Great stop!

Easy and beautiful short NZ bush walk to amazing experience of seal pups frolicking in the stream under the waterfall. I think Dec to Sept is the best time to go to make sure you get to see the seals.

GORGEOUS! Adorable seal pups, unreal flora, well maintained path and beautiful waterfall. Downside - trail was very crowded and at points, too narrow to accomodate the crowds.

Although the seal pups were darling the walk is too busy and visitors has no barriers from the pups. Some people were trying to touch them.

Beautiful trek to smaller waterfall with a bunch of pup seals playing in it. Was so fun to see so many cute seals having such a good time. Also free!

Seal pups playing in the waterfall was stunning, quite busy, some tourists were poking pups with sticks which was concerning.
