  • Delightful campsite, with assorted chooks (some seemingly with Tina Turner inspired feathers), ducks, guinea fowl and a couple of peacocks wandering round, plus alpacas and sheep.

And a huge sow in the next paddock (who loves having her back scratched).

Showers and kitchen etc all handy, plus cafe. Recommend the 'geothermal walk', very up-close and interesting.

  • Easy to find up a short gravel track, no problem in our VW camper.

Hardly anyone else there, we had a field virtually to ourselves + the free running chickens who were super friendly. 3 rams, a pig and 3 alpacas too. Lots of wild birds, the dawn chore was beautiful. Free hot showers, a small kitchen. Paid $10 for us to do the little thermal walk, a bit expensive but the owner was so friendly and persuasive we couldn’t say no!

  • A nicely located campsite with all facilities and a nice cafe.

There are many animals on the farm, but the stars are the free running chicken. The price is a bit high. We paid 80+ for 3 on an unpowered site

  • The farm is lovely and quiet.

The animals are fun to be around. But its a but priecy. 64 NZD for 2 and unpowerd.

The walkway is not worth 10 NZD per person.

  • Cool place, but for the price of $28/night each for an unpowered tent site, the facilities are basic and few.

2 showers and 1 toilet for men. We were asked to use our own camp stove. Compare that with Miranda where $30 gets you way more, even hot pool access. Comparable sites often cost around $15. For example Ruapuke. It feels too much like a rip off.

  • The walk is closed but as campsites go its quaint and quirky.

I worked there for free lodgings and food as they are currently trying to recover from the storm damage so there is some nice opportunity if you fancy some hard manual labour.

John is a unique character and will take advantage of the help but he offered me breakfast, lunch, tea and ice cream and a campspot for 4 hours work.

No WiFi at the ground so if that's a major issue maybe it's not right for you but showers are wood-stove operated by John everyday so nice and toasty.

Yes, it's a farm campsite...there will be chicken poo everywhere but that's just what it is, it's not a Hilton. 🤣
