Round Bush is just off the main road on the Lake Ohau side, not far past Lake Ohau Lodge.

So many wonderful places along the lake!!! And almost no tourists :)
One of our best freedom sites during our trip - but check your arrival time! It‘s pretty hard to find the way in the darkness.
Heaps of sandflies but so much worth it!
Have a swim in the lake, wake up right next to the waterfront with a beautiful sunrise and the overwhelming view - what else would you need?

Would be a 10 if not for the sandflies! They were everywhere!! We had to stayed at the van. But for the rest great place! In the middle of nowhere just next to the lake. Great star gazing, long drop toilet. Some dirty road until arrive but easy and accessible. Totally worth the detour!!
An absolutely stunning spot with unspoilt views of Lake Ohau and the mountains beyond. This is New Zealand at its best. Wild and beautiful. We’re here in winter and no other tourists in sight. Will be back for sure. Best of all it’s free.

Beautiful spot with donations welcome. We were in the camper there for the night and it was amazing.
Heaps of sandflies! But beautiful place, the lake surrounded by the mountains in the middle of nowhere is just stunning! No water supply, so bring your own! Clean toilets and all of that just for a donation!
Pretty, quiet spot but a lot of sand flies and quite windy. Long drop was quite clean.
The lake is beautiful and the mountains gorgeous. Not far from the main road. Not much flat area for tents. Sandflies and mosquitos were just tolerable. No water and only a long drop, but for free you can't complain.
Beautiful location and quiet place, but dirty toilet and billions of sandflies.
Pretty lovely place with clean basic toilets (the door was broken), but amazing view of the lake and mountains. Fire is forbidden but a lot of "old fireplace" are on the site.

Very good stay mid May with our campervan. Stunning view in the morning with the lake, the mountains... Free horses wandering around us and the campfire. And beautiful stars by night :)
Lovely spot just by the lake. No water supply so bring your own or treat the water from the lake. Sheltered sites under the trees or an open area for vehicles. Pit toilet. Last couple of kms to the campsite are on a gravel road. Lake is good for swimming in late summer.
Thanks to all the good people working for the NZ Department of Conservation - for all your hard work - making NZ more beautiful, accessable and healthy! Cheers 😍
