We love it ! Very family oriented and they allowed dogs. They gave a little dog called Max. Staff is super friendly. Hot water showers. I will come back again
This is a great little campsite. We stayed in a powered spot, cost was $36. Facilities are great. The salt water pool was lovely. We’ll definitely stay again.
Best place you could stay whether you have a van, tent or want a room! Amazing facilities with a pool, tennis court, movies and get in before 5:30 to help feed baby cows and kunekune piglets
Campervan (powered or non powered) around the hostel with full use of facilities. Facilities in hostel were great. Would definitely recommend. Far better than a campsite, and cheaper! Situated in farmland, with animals all around, brilliant setting.
Very convenient for caves. Relaxed, easy going, not too busy. Road is busy in day time. Good clean facilities. Some of the sites for camper vans are a bit uneven. Steph recommended spellbound Glowworm caves tour and it was an excellent recommendation.
Nice spot, close to all Waitomo - actions. Friendly staff gave us a warm welcome, 38nzd for power +2 adults. Goats, pics and deer nearby, food waste is feeded. Minus: close to the main road and noise from cars starts early!
This place was great! Very quiet and well maintained. Just a short walk to the Long Black cafe - excellent food. Also very close to all of the Waitomo Caves and all of their activities. I would give this place a perfect score except that the one drawback for me was Dave, one of the employees. He had quite a sarcastic nature which I thought was funny at first - but then it took a turn for the worse. He made it very evident that he didn't like Americans, much less women. He was mean and very condescending - it was totally uncalled for. So minus dealing with him, I would absolutely stay here again.
Would recommend this place! Well equipped kitchen, showers, pool and WiFi all in one. Cheap for camping. Lovely dog as well.
Lovely owners, great set up they have there, rocked up late in the evening with our camper, and they sorted us out in no time, really nice spot and has a really friendly vibe.
Leuke jeugd herberg met beperkt aantal plekken voor Campervans dus kom op tijd ! Warme douche, alles prima. Langs weg maar daar heb je geen last van.
Dicht bij Kiwi glow worm adventure. 15 min rijden. Voor 5 uur spectaculair abseiling, climbing and cave tour.
Sept 2019. Rocked up with a 6 bed camper and got a powered site at a very good price. Facilities are excellent including great kitchen, well-priced laundry and great showers. We were there low season so pretty quiet. Space is limited so high season might be tough getting a spot from time to time. We had a one-year-old with us so the lamb in the living room, lambs pottering around, and very friendly dogs, 2 calves outside were a very welcome distraction. Great staff as well.
Great experience with good toilets, hot showers, large kitchen, fire place, nice staff, laundry, fresh water and vacuuming of camper. Great view. Few powered sites available. Lambs and sheep were cute. Walking trail close by. Waitomo caves close by as well.
It‘s a very lovely place and really nice maintained. The owners are just sweet. You‘ll be using the hostel facilities, which includes a large and very good equipt kitchen, toilets and hot showers as well. If you want to chill or just a have a warm place at day or night time, you‘ll be able to enjoy the large living room, with a furnace, some games and a TV with loads of DVDs to chose from, or you just switch between those live channels aswell.

$38 to park our motor home while traveling with 2 adults and 3 kids. Stephanie who greeted us was so accommodating- showing us facilities, inviting us to use showers and facilities and making sure the beautiful fire place was well stoked. WiFi kept us all connected and access to the facilities was 24hrs even though we slept in the motor home. We’d recommend this if in the area.
Lovely little place with large hostel type accommodation/unit. Small area for parking powered vehicles, near the grass. Facilities were very good. Comfortable lounge area with log burner, tv and loads of movies. Showers were great. WiFi very good. Relaxing, family-like feel. Resident dog was the best bit- Max! Staff were great and helpful for booking trips. $38 for 2 people.
17$ per person for parking spot. You can use all the hostel facilities great place and stuff. The only thing it kinda lacks is a level parking area..
Absolutely one of the best places to camp in NZ. Friendliest staff, and just an inviting environment in general. Plus they have puppies at the moment. Clean, inexpensive, great service, what more to ask for.
Meilleur backpacker du monde, 17 dollar pour une tente, piscine, accueil chaleureux et aidant, toilettes et douches propres et 9 adorables chiots !
Best place so far, staff is super friendly
The kitchen is wonderfull, nice hot showers, they have a pool, wifi super cosy livingroom to chill an animals to cuddle. You just feel like being home right away.

$36 unpowered van spot two people one night, friendly and chatty staff, new puppies! And other animals nearby, 25 min walk to the caves. Great facilities- clean loos and showers , very well stocked kitchen, small enough to have friendly backpaper vibe but spaces still big enough for privacy. Very nice ! Not loads of van spots so probably worth ringing ahead in busy season. Also has an outdoor pool!
Perfect spot! Stayed there with tent for 2 nights. A lot of space, with really nice swimmingpool and you can use all the facilities of te hostel. And an amazing spot for puppy lovers while the are 4 of them here. The host is the best. Definitely go there!
We stayed at the Jump Hall Campground for one night and it was perfekt.
- many hot showers
- every single toilet in an own room
- very good kitchen with labels and co to use for the fridge or freezer
- nice living room with 25 MB’s unlimited WiFi (maybe more. That’s what my phone received)
- very nice staff
- drinkable no chloride mixed water
- saltwater swimming pool with pool rings to use
And only 17$!! That’s the reasons why 10/10 is the right decision.
Absolutely best value for money in 20 days in NZ. Free coffee in the morning, friendly owner. Just the street is a bit close if you stay on tent.
Very nice spot. Went camping here. A bit hard to find a level spot and camping is next to the road with some bushes in between. The facilities(it is a hostel) are really nice. The kitchen and lounge area are really inviting and make you wanting to stay there. Nice calm and young atmosphere.
This place was fantastic. We’ve been freedom camping for the last week or so and needed a good location for the cave experience in the morning (which it is!) and some place to unwind and shower (included!). Super welcoming and friendly reception and helpful. Plenty of space to cook, eat and chill. The kitchen was very resourceful. Beautiful farm animals surrounding the property (behind fences of course) that didn’t make much noise. Good home for campers/travellers.
This place is really Amazing ! We stayed one night with our Spaceship van for 17 dollars per person. We had access to everything (kitchen with a lot of tools and household appliances, hot shower, toilets, swimming pool, laundry 5$ : wash and dry, free wify, living Room,...). To put it on a nutshell, it Was by far the best camping WE did in NZ.
En résumé en français, ce camping est AWESOOOME et de loin le meilleur en NZ :-)
$17/night for a single person in an unpowered campervan. I was early enough to get a spot next to a tree for a feeling of privacy. At first I was going to knock this down to a 8/10 bc of the shower in the womens restroom (very mildewy smell that made it hard to want to stay in even one extra minutes) but later I found the main shower block which is actually very nice. Apparently there’s a small pool as well. Laundry facilities are good and the dryer will actually dry your stuff. Wifi is included in your fee. Fully stocked kitchen. Roomy lounge with a fireplace. Great location if you are going into town for the glow worm tours the next morning. So overall recommended.
Dave is very friendly and welcoming, our kids loved the animals on the farm, Dave even shared with us stories about the calves. Enjoyed our stay very much, facilities are not new but well-maintained, big kitchen and lounge, hot shower, clean toilets, two hammock which kids don't want to get off, cute dog Max our daughter loves :-) although her excitement may be too much for Max
We had a wonderful experience here! Seemed a bit expensive for car camping but was very worth the cozy environment inside with movies, board games, etc. and a fully stocked kitchen! (Rice cookers, panini press, everything). Was definitely one of the most clean and homey hostels I’ve seen. Getting to feed the baby lambs, pigs and cows really completed the experience.
The best camp of our travel: clean, tidy, free hot showers, and we also got free washing machine and heater. Juno is a perfect owner, he showed us his pigs and new born lambs. I wished I could stay longer.
Very nice place, Helpfull and frendly stuff!!!! Everything was Tidy and clean!!!

Our favourite on 20 day experience.
Owner was fantastic, top amenities. Lounge with fire place, old tv and incredible DVD selection. Backpackers were awake very late, around 10 of us mid June. Taken out to feed the deer, goats and Kunikuni in the am. Great stay, be back in summer.

Our favorite stay in NZ! Ended up staying for 3 nights. For campervans, there's one pole out back by the pool. We just slept in the van, and used the kitchen and lounge inside. We had lots of rain so I loved the cozy fire to read and relax. Staff is super helpful for tour info.
Great little place to stay as long as you like. $34 for 2 of us in a van, and you get access to all he facilities inside in backpackers. Large kitchen that is extremely well equipped with everything you could possibly need and more... large communal lounge and dining area. Decent toilets and showers as well as a laundry room... all included! Oh and there’s a large pool out the back that is probably best in the summer months. Can’t fault this place and a very friendly owner. Stay here if you’re anywhere near this area.
One of my best night in NZ!
The owner is very friendly, and has a great sense of humor (above all with french tourist!).
The campground is very little, close to the road, but we had enough place, and a table.
The kitchen is great, the showers are free. 2 lovely pigs come near the fence to salute you, they have horses, goats, and even a deer.
Very close to the glowworms caves (the expensive ones, and the wonderful free bushwalk).
I recommend this place to all!

Beautiful location with views from light airy lodge. Dave and Steph brilliant hosts, welcoming to all so set a nice vibe. Gave us sensible traveller advice for the caves and our further journey. We had a powered camper site by the quaint swim pool with farm animals on our boundaries. Brilliant camp kitchen with all utensils, pans, cleaning stuff. Gave it a 9 because of occasional road noise for us campers eg big logging lorries in early morning. Free wifi limited to daily 30 mins but village cafe a short ride away is free with a purchase.
UK 50-something couple
Good location, nice clean site, very helpful owner. Predominantly aimed at backpackers/tents/smaller campers - limited number of powered sites. With a larger camper it was tricky to find a level spot.
The best kitchen I've seen at any backpackers. They have every possible piece of cooking equipment and it is spotless. The hot showers are free and wonderful. Very clean toilets. TV lounge with DVDs and games. Swimming pool. Pigs! Overall a great place to stay. $17 per person for an unpowered site.
Nice backpackers with good facilities. Also accommodated our late arrival and let us pay in the morning. Excellent service. Showers were free. Didn’t give it a 10 as we had a little difficulty finding a level spot to park a large motorhome.
It was marvellous to wake up in the morning and be greeted by two very cute pigs just over the fence!
Dave was so welcoming, helpful and funny. He sorted out our glowworm caving, booked it for us and got us transport, told us to try the free nature bush walk before hand too. Showed us round and introduced us to the animals (very cute dog too who would sit with you) and let us feed the lambs in the morning. Good facilities, large kitchen with lots of utensils, sofa area with DVDs and a fire. Limited WiFi but given daily slip.
Friendly staff, lots of help planning itinerary and suggesting options. Building was a little old, but spotlessly clean. $17 for non powered van site. Wi-Fi included.
We loved to stay there. Great facilities, free hot unlimited shower and really friendly staff. It has also a little pet area with a goat, a deer, sheep and many pigs. The price is awesome.
Very nice and clean facilities. Girl at the reception was really nice and helpful.
Unfortunately arrived too late to enjoy the magnificent swimming pool.
Shuttle for the "All You Can Eat" casserole at Roselands ($10/pp) where we had a nice meal.
Wifi is $2 for 250Mb, $5 for 1Gb, paid 5, only used 150Mb, got offered the refund, I didn't ask.
One of our best camping experience in NZ.
Perfect location near Black Water Rafting where we booked Ruakuri Caves (nice ++) and Black Abyss (++++) : a must do when in Waitomo!
We stayed here for one night in an unpowered camper van site, and very much enjoyed our stay. There was definitely a backpackers vibe to the common areas (go figure), with a group watching movies together in the common living area, and the bathrooms can get a bit crowded.
We were told to basically park anywhere we liked overnight, but you need to be weary of uneven pitches. We didn't realize how uneven our spot was until we were too tired to fix it, making for an uncomfortable night's sleep. We loved the convenience for staying here after a trip to the caves, and at $34 for the two of us the price was a bit better than some other places we stayed.
Loved the animals! And we recommend checking out Rose Hall for dinner, as was recommended to us.
The best place to stay to visit the caves and surrounds.
We stayed there at the end of January with our campervan after the black abyss ; very convenient and clean. We didn't reserve in advance.
Really great hostel with plenty of space for non powered and powered campers and tents too. Really lovely setting and despite being on the main road it's super quiet and very green!!! There's a great pool and hammocks all over the place! Can't recommend this place enough. Great kitchen and shower facilities and huge lounge/dining area. Really welcoming and friendly host and great traveller vibe!
Predominantly a hostel but camping is available in a grassy area and there is space for a few campervans as well on hardstanding. There is only one box for power though (4 outlets) so if you arrive too late to get a spot close to it you'll need a long power cable. Good kitchen facilities with everything you could ever need and great hot showers. Big lounge & dining area with a selection of DVDs, games, books, etc or just to socialise with other travellers. Helpful and friendly staff who can give advice on and book activities in the area. Small swimming pool available to guests which would be welcome on a hot day or after a hard day of caving. Discount for members of Youth Hostel Associations.
Facilities were good, kitchen, showers etc. Free 30 minutes wifi. The host was very welcoming and entertaining. Only downside is we were camped pretty much next to the road so every set of headlights lit up the tent.
Juno camping has unique vibes! The staff is super helpful, efficient, friendly and... funny! Just get to talk to Stefanie and you will understand ;)
Initially we planned to camp here one night, but got two instead! The facilities were in perfect condition: clean toilettes, hot showers, fully equipped kitchen and entertaining living room with loads of board games, DVDs with newest movies and very very comfy couches.
And on top of that the campsite is just 5min walking from Waitomo Caves tours which was perfect for us!!
To sum up, if we could we would stay at least a week here :))
Helpful and friendly staff, well equipped kitchen with all cookware and utensils you'll need. Only drawback was that powered campervan sites all had to huddle around one power pole, which limited where you could park and also limited privacy/proximity to other campervans. Great location to walk to the Legendary glow worm tour across tge road.
Becky and James
I am so pleased we stayed here, this was our final destination of our 3 week long trip around NZ and we could not have found a better last stop. There is not a single fault I can find about this place, it ticks every box.
They have, clean, hot and unlimited showers, they have a lounge area which is always open, and genuinely is made to feel like a home from home, with an amazing selection of DVDs, an open fire, board games and more.
The kitchen is the best kitted we have experienced, with every utensil you could imagine for no extra cost. There is also a complimentary shuttle to Roselands where they do an all you can eat buffet of stew, potatoes, rice etc which is perfect after a day of caving!
To top it all off the manager was just amazing, he looked after us and talked to us often, giving us advice on the area and generally making us laugh! Also he had a really cute dog!
All I can say is STAY HERE!!
We will be back :):)
Really helpful and funny staff with great tips. Perfect location for all sort of tours in the Waitomo Caves. Kitchen really clean with everything you need. Bathrooms and showers are also clean with free hot water. We were the only campervan there so it was nice but there is not too much space and seems more made for hostel guests.
Very nice backpacker and camping facility. Showers were good, kitchen was very well equipped. Great location if you are doing the black water rafting - just across the street. Very friendly and let us leave our camper there until 2 while we did our cave adventure.
Paid $38 for two people in a campervan. Wonderful host and cute dog. Very helpful advice for which glow worm cave to do. Nice showers, bathrooms shared with the hostel. Nice common area where people watch movies and talk. Campervan spot is small but great and quiet at night despite being next to the road.
Very friendly host. Cosy and clean accommodation. The children had a great time at the swimming pool. The place for the campervan was small. Power site 2 adults and 3 children are $38 for one night.
The campsite has a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The manager is very friendly and always up for a chat. The site is very close to the road but at night it's quiet. You'll find the Legendary Black Water Rafting Company just on the opposite of the road. We found that very convenient since we booked a Tour there. You can also book Tours at the campsite.
We rented a tent site for 1 night. Lovely place to stay, friendly staff. The pool was a welcome treat on the hot and sticky day that we arrived. Only downside was that the road is fairly busy (bit noisy) with local and tourist traffic. Handy (walking distance) to tour set-off points. Just down the road towards Waitomo Village is the start point of a nice walk through native bush to an old pa site on top of the hill (good views). Would stay again.
Really cosy hut with very good facilities and awesome host. The space for cars is VERY limited. If you have a very big campervan go somewhere else.
Nurul Nadia Naziron
The owner was very kind, friendly and helpful. The place is not far from Waitomo Glowworm Caves. The facilities there are the best. Clean toilet and shower and warm living room. They also have a swimming pool provided. The view in the morning was very beautiful. They have three cute lambs, a cat and dog.
Clean, warm, relaxed place with helpful and totally friendly staff. Definitely recommend it ($16 per person for a non powered site).
The best camping that I had for all my week in NZ. The space for our van was quiet and nice but the best thing about this place is a lovely and comfortable big room, with a fantastic fireplace that in winter is perfect and keeps the place so warm! Very friendly atmosphere, like home, you can watch movies all together.
The kitchen has plenty of all the stuff that you need, toilets and showers are in good condition. The only negative thing was the wifi that didn't work (we bought a password for $5 but it didn't work), but the rest was so beautiful that we didn't care!!!
Perfect if you want to do activities in waitomo's caves, so close!
It's a very tidy and warm building, you can camp at the backyard and pay $17 p.p for a campsite.
The showers are for free, clean and the best I have seen in NZ. Great Kitchen with all the gear you will need. Located near to the caves and a friendly guy in the office. TV and some games like chess or monopoly are also available. I recommend this place.
Grass pitches. Next to road. Nice scenery. No Wifi on pitches. Note: Only space for two campervans/motorhomes! However if you have a self-contained campervan/motorhome/trailer $38 is expensive for NZ...
Very cosy and welcoming. Good and very clean shower and kitchen facilities. Uncomplicated booking. Juno gave us the info to do the cave tour with Spellbound. A thumbs up!
Camping is possible behind the backpackers, very clean and tidy, nice TV room with fire, very comfortable.
Friendly and helpful staff, well-kept, free showers. Plenty of camping space ($15pp).
