The most well appointed campsite we stayed at! Beautiful landscapes grounds, new buildings, immaculate stainless steel kitchen, modern bathrooms which played great music. The bay across the street was idyllic. They appear to be building more ensuite lofts so hopefully they keep the campervan sites going. We will definitely be returning!

A lovely campsite in the heart of the coromandel. Managers and staff are all super friendly and helpful. All utilities were super clean and to a high standard. At the entrance is beautiful flaxmill bay. Highly recommend this campsite to all!

Lovely campsite and welcoming owners. This was our first stop in NZ but 2 weeks later it's still our favourite. Spacious grounds, clean tidy kitchen and ideally placed for a trip to Hot Water Beach and Cathedral Cove. Thank you.

The best place we could find in whole north Island when we visited New Zealand.
The hosts were friendly. Car couldnt start and they helped me jump start it.
Top notch service and highest quality kitchen and bathroom facilities.
Will different come back over and over again.
Also the place was very calm nice beautiful and amazing.

Camping on grass in what feels like staying in a botanical garden. Spacious pitches & the site is opposite a great sheltered beach.
The kitchen is basically catering standard with very clean stainless surfaces & sinks , full height fridges freezers and Bosch ovens!
The washrooms are immaculate , with really great showers.

Such a beautiful place to stay. We had a powered site for our camper van for 1 night on 24th Dec. $70 for the two of us which was our most expensive site in the two weeks we’ve been touring around the North Island. I guess because it was Christmas Eve. The facilities were also the best we’ve had. A very large site with beautifully landscaped gardens including large trees for shade. Quite delightful. Steve and Therese also the best hosts we’ve had. Happy and enthusiastic with lots of good tips on what to do in the area. We had bikes so cycled over to Cooks Beach and at low tide could cycle right along the long beach on the hard low tide sand. Good fish and chips at Clark’s Beach. Had a beautiful swim along the beach. Also walked around the Shakespeare Cliffs walk and rode our bikes down to the ferry. Highly recommend this site.

Can't believe there is not a current review of the Flaxmill accomodation and campsite... (that fact nearly put us off to be honest😳) So glad we took a punt ...the whole experience was first class. Steve the manager met us enthusiastically the first night and as this was our first day/night in NZ he spent time with us to hatch an itinerary and gave us some excellent tips for where to go and what to do😀The campsite is beautifully located with stunning scenery and walks on the doorstep - it is a cute ferry ride from Whitianga and is ideally placed to visit Cathedral Cove and Hot Water Beach. Our one night stopover quickly became two and we can't recommend it highly enough... the facilities were first class with more than a hint of style - thanks guys👍🏻

Nice and quiet camp ground on grass with a lot of space. It's mainly a park with cabins but much space for camper vans or tents. It's opposite of Flaxmill Bay (small beach) and close to Cooks Beach and Ferry landing (ferry to Whitianga, attention: no vehicles just people and bikes). Free Wifi, very tidy kitchen and bathroom (must be new). Shower is limited to 6min. No playground. Picnic tables around. Staff/host friendly. We can recommend the place and it's less expensive than the other ones around.

Easily the most picturesque commercial camp ground we have been to. Very expensive, but worth paying more for. This place is unique in that there are no rows like most other camps so it doesn't feel like a commercial camp ground. It really feels like you are staying in a large park. You take a very spacious spot around the outside of the grounds or under one of the many mature trees. The playground was out of action but it appears a lot of work has been done here over the past year and this might be a work in progress?? Beautiful native landscaping, lots of huge trees to shelter from the heat, lovely beach across the road, great nearby walks and friendly staff.

We have spent 2 nights in this resort on a powered site during Xmas season in 2009. This was our second night in NZ and we were not (yet) aware that some NZ campsites managers could try to crook campers. The first night was invoiced at a "normal" price (60 NZD) but the second has been invoiced at 131 NZD, supposedly because of "high season and fully booked camp"...while we discovered on the next morning that the camp was half empty. In addition, power was unexpectedly cut (the manager came to inform us of this at midnight...swearing we would get a discount, which was never granted afterwards) and the playground for the kids not available. Such a pity that a so nice environment is spoiled by such people.
The campsite is very basically equipped (only 1 bbq working at the time of our visit ; kids playground not opened while it was mentioned as available on the website,...) and well positioned to discover the wonders of this area. A bit difficult to find without a GPS though.
With an other management team and reasonable prices, would be an appreciable place.
