This is one of the Kaikoura Coastal Camping Grounds situated just 15 minutes south of Kaikoura along State Highway 1. There are basic facilities that include toilets, but a short walk over to Goosebay Camp will give you access to a shower, kitchen and laundry. Please contact the camp manager for more information.

Right on the beach. We paid $15 pp for a powered site. The toilets are basic and no shower here, but access to lovely facilities just along at the next campground are included in the price.

$12 per person. Small toilets but facility of Goose Bay Coastal Campgrounds can be used, which are very nice and clean. Great location and right at the ocean.

It was very basic, there were clean flushing toilets which is always a plus. There were a lot of long term residence but they all seemed very friendly and said hello. The beach is a nice place to find pāua shells and there is another campsite just down the road if you want a free hot shower/use their cooking facilities. It's not bad for the price but the only major downfall is the road and train track is so close and loud it does sound like there is a massive landslide coming down which meant we were out of the tent every hour checking it wasn't an earthquake - not a great night sleep.

This place was RIGHT on the main road as well as next to a train track- got almost no sleep in a tent with the constant noise and lights going by! It was campervan city, and most of them seemed very long-term, which made us feel a bit like we were crashing some kind of suburb uninvited.
pros: beautiful coast, and very nice facilities at the main campground (Kaikoura Coastal Campgrounds) down the road.

Expensive for what you get (narrow noisy gravely strip of land squeezed between the road/train tracks and the sea). There is no better option in the area though. But it was the noisiest site we have visited!

Nice view as we parked right on the waters edge. Saw dolphins and seals in the morning (around 7am). Beautiful sunrise over the water.
Facilities are very basic, just toilets on site, but we did make use of the showers at the main site 1km away. Which were ok.
Lots of long standing caravans and residents so it did feel a little like we were invading their space. But the views and waking up to dolphins and seals made worth it for sure!

We stayed here for 1 night after a day whale watching.
We stayed on power and it was $12pp+ Fantastic views,
+ Friendly staff member,
+ You have use of facilities in goose bay which are clean and spacious. Although they are 1km down the road at the office,
+ We saw a couple of seals playing in morning but no dolphins.- Onsite facilities not worth the money, 1 flush toilet for men and 1 for women and the women's didn't have a lock on.
