The whole experience and the caves was wonderful - the boat ride over Lake Te Anau was beautiful, arriving at the caves with the sound of gushing water was exciting: the final part in the dark with the glowworms twinkling above was surreal and magical. This tour is slightly expensive but well worth it. A boat takes you to the cave where you walk through the forest, into the cave, enter a small chain/pulley controlled boat and then deep into the glowworm grotto - it is like the night sky - amazing!! And you learn all about their life cycle.

Very well organised. The caves are not huge but they are interesting. We visited in the evening after touring Milford Sound; it rounded the day off nicely. The passengers on the boat trip over seemed to be a glum bunch for some reason but I don't think the operators can be blamed for that!

Not that impressed. Good information but not as many worms as I'd expected. The Fox Glacier glowworm walk was better.
