I did the Morning Glory trip. As you kayak the entire length of the Sound it is quite strenuous but it is so worth it. It is really peaceful and you get to see the stunning scenery as well as wildlife much closer than on a tour boat - we saw seals and penguins. Only 9 out of 10 due to man eating sandflies!

I would give this trip an 11 if I could. We were lucky, with great weather, and a pod of bottlenose dolphins who played with us for around 15 minutes. Beyond that, our guide, Adam, was friendly, well informed, and fun. The preparation phase was well done and fairly quick, and nice gear is provided. Milford Sound is a fantastic place to kayak, we loved it. We did the Sunriser Classic, it is a good trip. The groups are small, only 4 kayaks plus the guide in our group. And did I mention dolphins? A lifetime peak experience!

We arrived in Milford Sound the afternoon before in an apocaplyptic storm which resulted in the road being closed due to a rock slide, so we thought our chances of going out were minimal. However, the next morning the storm had passed and although slightly blowy we were able to get out on the water. Roscos provided all the clothing/safety gear required and after kitting out and a safety brief we launched. The clouds parted and we were treated to the most glorious views all around the sound. the paddling was easy and nicely paced, so no need to worry if you're a novice. On the way in we were taken into a secluded grove which was a marvellous end to the trip. Our guide was attentive and very informative throughout. Highly recommended

What a trip, we had Dolphins all around much of the time and watched as they fished in the shallow waters. We saw seals all over the place. We went across to the world famous Milford track and got to walk up it a ways to a lake where all the trees are in the lake. We got to see bunch of Penguin on the beach, boy those little guys can swim fast they were Like bullets. We had a Guide call "Damagerman" Dan Awesome bloke who really knew his stuff. I think Damager got his name from his white kayaking he dose. All of the crew were full of fun and we wanted for nothing but the really great thing at the end was they drove us back to Te Anue. All the gear was good and well looked after and for the price it was very good value after some things we did in Queenstown.

Price is a bit high, but the quality of the trip and guide (Adam) was top notch. Equipment is in good shape for a guiding company. They even have a ridiculously cool heater in their tent for changing before the trip.

They even scheduled a pod of dolphins to come by and play with us on our paddle!

It's just too bad that there were no kayak hire options that we could find, as we could've got by on our own and $185 was very steep for the Morning Glory trip. Much more value for the non-kayaker. Also, way better seeing everything from the kayak than the deck of a cruise ship.

If you do one thing in New Zealand, the Morning Glory trip has to be it. We lucked out and had an incredibly calm and sunny morning on Christmas Day. The water was glassy, the sun was shining on the snow capped mountains, and it was just generally incredible. Our guide (Adam) was enthusiastic - even though it was Christmas Day morning - and knowledgeable. Best part was when we saw a pod of Bottlenose dolphins at least a km away and we paddled super hard to play with the dolphins. They were right next to us! Roscoe has a great business here. They are very organized, have great equipment, but it felt very personal. This trip in particular gives you a sense of accomplishment (you kayak the whole length of the sound to the Tasman Sea) and the intimacy of a small group in the quiet of the early morning. Loved it!

The temperature here is quite cold and it snows with strong winds and heavy rains. These occur at any time of the year. There is rain that averages almost every other day during the hiking season. Although the most amazing thing about these places are the waterfalls. These are in plenty and they cascade over each other lie beautiful silver threads.
