A short walk to a stunning white sandy beach.
Clean toilets and cold showers available.
Plenty of trees to provide shade.
Would highly recommend this beach.
cool place to camp.showers are cold but that wasn't a problem.beach is a short walk from the camp ground.plenty of room late January...
child/youth (5-18) $6.50
nice and clean up there.
Great quiet place! There are many sites and it’s only a short walk to the beach.
Cold showers and toilets are available.
We paid $26 for 2 adults.
Lovely spot to park up, a few other campers but didn't actually see anyone. Did not use showers as a not warm enough yet to have a cold shower, toilets were fine. Nice short walk to beach which is a gorgeous beach. We parked near the stream, no problems with mosquitos and had the bonus of a tree full of nesting birds beside us.

Good spot if you are going to the Cape Reinga lighthouse. Not much there and probably a bit expensive for a DOC campsite, but on a nice day the beach is nice.
Unique location at a beach with incredible white sand. We loved the waves! Safe swimming in the stream is possible. The facilities are basic as expected with a basic DOC site. Acceptable drop toilets and cold showers. Bring your own water and food. $26 for two persons.
DOC website mentions mozzies, but picked a windy night to be here and they weren't a problem. $13/night, decent facilities. Unsealed metal road to access is in great shape. Open sites and some shaded/more private ones too; saw a few folks with hammocks set up. Lots of birdsong. Lovely.
Great location by the beach. It is very very busy in summer, to the point that there was no water available at the campsite. Almost nowhere to camp
A Brad in a van
Completely abandoned on a sunny Thursday night, late November, except for one middle aged couple in a rental van. $13 per night, per person for no facilities, save a few toilet blocks and a cold water shower. Lots of level ground and obviously very private.

Wonderful location with equally wonderful and friendly rangers.
Remember to take drinking water as water on-site needs to be boiled first.
Basic as expected, but drop loos we're acceptable. Also good, clean, cold shower cubicles.
Clean facilities (long drop toilets, cold showers, running water - not potable). Lovely location.
The campground is very close to the beautiful white-sand beach. You can hear the waves from your tent. Flush + compost toilets, and cold showers. Better have diner early if you cook outside, otherwise be ready to be surrounded by possums.
Beach access. $6 per person. Dry toilets and cold shower. More rustic but very quiet.
Nice campground next to a river and a good spot to stay for a trip to Cape Reinga in the morning. Unfortunately lots of sandflies. The shower were great and clean but we couldn't test them because of missing water on the whole campground. After a short call 2 helpful rangers arrived quickly to check the problem. Great service!
Just a few minutes walk to a sandy beach, the campsite had ample grass lawn parking for cars and campervans. Multiple drop toilets, non-treated tap water, and semi-enclosed cold showers (no roof). Beautiful farmland on one side, with a stream running through a forest trail to get to the beach. There are no fires, BBQs or kitchen. Honesty box for $6 per person per night. Stayed one night in June 2015.
Very good DOC campsite, with cold showers and flushable toilets.
Nice beach, good waves to bodyboarding.
Close to a beautiful beach.
13May14, 1 night, $15 per night, 2 of us (50's).
Nice quiet campsite. Only 2 others there.
1 long drop block and 1 flushable block. How so, I wonder? Why not all flush? Cold shower there too.
Seems like in the middle of nowhere.
Gravel road to get there.
Only one car - OUR car! Nice campground with toilets and a shower. 3 minutes walk to the beach! Great!

Beautiful location with a close walk to the beach, only $6NZ with showers and toilets - perfect.
Beautiful beach, not crowded, cosy camp site, cold water showers, only $7 per night/PP.

DOC sites have best locations and mostly excellent facilities.
great very basic campsite beautiful beach it is well worth the long drive down the gravel track to find. Only has long drop toilet and cold showers though. Great place for star gazing as there is no lighting pollution. would recommend
