Looked like a walk with a great view - the road to the starting point can not be accessed by campervan though.... So had to turn...
Harwoods Hole walk was one to remember. The old woods with their spooky feel, all very beautiful. We did not make it to the Hole itself, but the viewpoint was incredible. Well worth the drive down the long gravel track, do not drive too fast.
45 minute walk through an ancient forest (after a 10km windy, gravel track) submerging into an epic break in the forest, crazy beautiful scenery, valleys, birds, tree tops. Well worth the extra drive/walk.
The drive to the Harwoods Hole parking area was the best of all. Very beautiful. The walk to the Hole was nice as well. The Hole itself is not really impressive.
Very nice walk through the forest. All the landscape around this place is so beautiful. The drive to the carpark is so beautiful and highly recommended. The Hole is not so impressive if you do not climb down.
Shorter than what was expected, really nice walk through the forests and out near the cave, I only I had brought a longer rope!

Fine walk, can't look down the Hole but it has a great echo. The outlook was my favourite though, stunning views. Entrance road was challenging for my 2wd van.
Pleasant varied walk through woods and over rocks. Impressive surroundings at the Hole. Very nice view from the lookout path.
Nice hike, stunning hike, be careful!
Nice walk, liked the climbing over the rocks at the end!! But a bit afraid of heights. So did not come too close!
Easy walk through a beautiful forest, leading to the impressive sink hole. The view of the gorge was spectacular.
Very gentle and relaxing walk through a Tolkeinesque forest. The hole itself gave me vertigo and you cannot see the bottom. Nearby lookout is phenomenal.
Beautiful area, Hole was very eerie. The lookout was amazing.
Nice small walk and nice views.
Slippery rocks after the rain. Bit difficult to see the hole.

Very nice walk to the hole through a beautiful forest, very nice lookout, long road (11km) offroad.
The 40 minute walk to the Hole is easy and the forest looks amazing. Also a must for everyone who likes climbing.
A hole 200m deep in the ground, special place! The forest that you walk through to get there is also worth mentioning, really cool!
Interesting walk. Cave is impressive but cannot see too far. Drive is 11km but very beautiful campsite in Canaan Downs with carved wooden pieces.
Quiet, gentle walk through rocks and trees and then bush and amazing rock formations. Just be careful at the carpark - bees and wasps. Quite a lot.
Good walk into the forest, 45 minutes, easy, a very big hole from New Zealand!
The road to the Hole is 11km of gravel and holes and bumps, be aware! The walk to the Hole is easy, however you cannot see in the hole, but still good to see. The lookout along the walk was better than the Hole, you get an amazing view. Just be careful of the rocks!

175m deep, we have seen it just from the top, from the nice view point on the right side (once coming to the Hole).
Nice walk to an awesome hole. Take care: no safety barriers! 10 minutes before you reach the hole a sign says you can go to a viewpoint up the hill. TAKE CARE: we lost the track going there and got stuck in bushes. Just go to the hole and follow the path.
Nice walk to the hole. Don't miss the track to the viewing point. On the top you have an amazing view. The car park is also a DOC campsite. ($6 pp).
Very nice place. About one hour walk from carpark through nice forest. Excellent view from the rocks.
We could have a climb near to the hole thanks to a nice kiwi.
It is an easy and short walk through a mystifying forest which scenery I loved! You end up at the Harwoods Hole which is also nice. Do not miss the other lookout (marked on path).
Spectacular what the nature can build, a nice walk to the Hole (forest, stones) and very deep hole - surprising view, also a good lookout with stone scenery.
Very amazing hole!! You can't even see the ground.
Best bush walk I have ever taken. Big trees, moss, massive marble rocks, friendly birds and giant hole, also an awesome view over the valley.
You have to drive 11km on an unsealed road but it is really worth it. On you way, you see lots of 'Middle Earth' landscape and Harwoods Hole is beautiful (and so is the lookout you can walk to on your way).
It is a nice walk through the forest and sometimes you have to climb a little bit. It is an amazing hole!!
Only one hour from parking. Breath-taking depth of the hole. Number of biking trails.
Mystical forest to one of the hidden hot spots of New Zealand.
Drive towards Takaka, it is just past the caves. It is a bumpy road to get there, but completely worth it! And do not go if your vehicle is wide! The scenery is out of this world. Did the return walk in 60mins, but one fast walkers.
Very good when you want a little activity, nice forest, you have to climb a little.
Eerie forst walk on the way in. Don't watch the Blair Witch movie then go there. I swear that is where it was filmed! The hole itself is dangerous, the rocks seem to entice you in to look further, with a risk of fall. There are warnings though, and if you use common sense it's OK. But don't go for that extra look over the edge. Difficult work with lots of clambering and climbing over rocks. Make sure you have your boots.

Fantastic view and beautiful surrounding/forest. Very nice spot.
Gorgeous hike from the trailhead, easy hiking. Harwoods Hole is a very interesting site. Grand, very beautiful and a little eerie. Definitely worth the hike in, also recommend taking the trail to the view of the gorge. Worth the extra 20 minutes of hiking.
Quite cold air - very nice walk through trees to large opening in the ground - highly recommend this walk.
Between Takaka and Upper Takaka
Lovely walk though the forest; Harwards hole not impressive but the gorge lookout definitely worth the uphill climb.
This is a great short walk to amazing views down into Takaka Valley. Harwood's Hole itself is about 180 metres deep and you can't see the bottom when standing at the top. Its tempting to try and lean out and catch a glimpse - Ahhhh!
The drive out along Canaan Rd is long, winding and taxing on the car. The track is a bit rough toward the end when its all jagged limestone.
Great walk through old forest. The hole was just a hole. Hard (and dangerous) to see down. Take short side trip up to the lookout point (5 mins from hole) with spectacular views over a valley into Golden Bay. Almost more spectacular than the hole itself.
