South IslandFiordlandTe Anau

Time: 3 - 4 days, Distance: 60 km

The Kepler Track is another of Fiordland's iconic walks. A 60km round trip that takes 3-4 days but traveller feedback suggests that if you are fit it can be done in less. It involves a steep climb and fantastic alpine views on the tops. Enjoy.

If you are a bit worried about walking on your own, there are several guiding companies that offer great services.

Go out and do it. Very nice views and funny evenings in the huts. We did it in 3 days start and end from in Te Anau. It is also possible to start/end in Rainbow Creek, the trek is a bit shorter then. But like every walk in NZ, well maintained and signed. Drinking water in every hut and the first day is the hardest!

Too expensive for the facilities in the huts, but absolutely worth it because of the hike.

Don't miss this one if you can avoid it. The first day up the Luxmore is the hardest by a good deal and well worth it to get quickly above the bush line. Its a tougher track than the Routeburn so moderate fitness is required.

Superb views with good weather. Challenging but not too hard hike. Well maintained walking track. Always changing nature makes it very interesting pass though.

Campsites expensive but for a Great Walk normal. Toilets not clean and full, drinking water was not drinkable. Track was awesome, minus because of the campsites.
