The Abel Tasman has always been a busy little beaver comparative to most New Zealand destinations. But traveller feedback shows that crowds are less of an issue and fewer people seem to be coming here. If you come here in peak season and want to get away from it all then it is still very possible. DOC have devised a cunning plan where only certain places get full at certain times. Ask about this and stick to one of the many secluded spots. Plus, if you make an effort to get to the quieter northern end of the National Park, or are travelling out of high season, then swing with the breeze and you are in for a real Abel Tasman treat. If you are unsure of embarking on this walk on your own, there are several experienced guiding companies offering great service. Enjoy!

Stunning views, cozy huts, lots of beautiful beaches for a swim. We especially enjoyed the more remote part of the track, going from Totaranui to Whariwarangi.
We walked the 45km from Marahu to Bark Bay and back again. Really beautiful place to walk. Not that easy to walk, but worth it!

Nice views, the water is amazing, great walk.
It was very nice to see the bays from the water. We saw lots of seals. On the boat trip back you see everything you have done.
Coast track was beautiful but a bit busy with all the day walkers.

Great tracks and views from numerous places. Booking is essential in the summer. Good quality of information on the track.
Super views, good huts, great beaches, lots of wildlife.
The beach was huge and the track very pleasant. Insects very loud! Found a lovely spot on the beach for a picnic and the views of the mountains and sea were really nice. Interesting tree growing out of a rock!
Nice walking track to the beach with trees that enclose the path and I really loved the crickets. The beach was big and we watched the kayaks and boats while seeing the mountains in the background.
Onetahuti to Awaroa - beautiful.
Awaroa to Totaranui - stunning.
Track is in the middle of the national park with forest and sea - just awesome. Possibility to make a kayak trip also. Really good.
Thanks to all the good people working for the NZ Department of Conservation - for all your hard work - making NZ more beautiful, accessable and healthy! Cheers 😍
