DOC campsite, small fee, basic facilities

What a place! Not too far off the main road, down a narrow unsealed section - watch out for sheep. Beautiful beach, vast grassy areas, seals, striking cliffs as well as a good surf beach. The famous Purakaunui Falls are not far away. This camp site is definately well worth the trip.

Camp on the coast. Striking cliff faces can be seen from the campsite and Purakaunui Falls are not far. There is a good surf beach to the south of the camp. Cosgrove Island, a wildlife refuge, is off the coast and Jacks Blowhole is 10 km to the north.

Large campsite with stunning views overlooking a beach and cliffs in the distance. Long drop toilet and no camp shower or free wifi as the description suggests.

It's a long dirt road, and you might have to wait for the farmer to move his cattle, but it's worth the drive. There is a stunning bay with seals on it. Unfortunately there was no shelter to cook under, which is a bit tricky in the rain.

Beautiful view, in the middle of nowhere directly located at the beach (saw a sea lion the next morning), but kind of crowded, toilets and water, $6 per person, per night.
