Klondyke Corner Camping Ground is a large open campsite surrounded by large trees creating a good sheltered spot. It is right on the banks of the Waimakariri River and is very popular in the summer. There is a large shelter with picnic tables in it - watch for the sneaky kea's that will try and steal your lunch.....!

Paid campsite, 2 long drops nice and clean. River nearly dry but still plenty of sandflies. Lovely view and not too noisy even though close to the road.

Now a Paid campsite, 8$ pp. Clean toilet. Some sandflies, but if you stay at a windy spot they are no problem. No cellphonereach.
Quite place close to the river. Toilets are very basics. This campsite isn't free anymore so it's a bit pricey for the spot
Great spot, fantastic views of the river and the mountains, a little noise from the road and the odd train but nothing too much, loads of room, there were only 5 campers and some people tenting, great spot for family's to run a muck
A very good Campsite nearby the street. We had no trouble with sandflies. Shelter is great for cooking. Toilets simple but for a free campsite everything you need.
This is a nice little free camp spot!
Drive down away from the road and you'll find beautiful spots under the trees & next to the river. We hiked up over the hill and found a big patch of purple lupin next to the river.
Toilet is as basic as they come, don't forget to bring your own paper!
Yes, there are sandflies but they really are everywhere that whole area - Bushmans spray really helps!
The view across the river is beautiful but the sandflies are relentless which spoilt the site a little.
Thanks to all the good people working for the NZ Department of Conservation - for all your hard work - making NZ more beautiful, accessable and healthy! Cheers 😍
